Just buy a hat press, I been doing hats with patches over 10 years, and I bought a hat press since day one, is easier, faster better.
Just an alternative option for others, in case you’re in a bind and need to use the heat gun method.

Cricut design space and Inkscape for my graphic builds. Then I transfer those images over to the Xtool design space for laser cuts and engraving.

I buy the non stick 12x24 leatherette from createwith614.com. I then put ultra heat n bond adhesive on the back. I’ve found that it’s more durable than the already adhesive backing that you can get.

I apologize on keep asking questions. I bought the a couple leatherettes, thanks for code. Question is the HeatnBond Ultra. Do you use the adhesive sheet that you iron on the back of the leather? And then cut out? Thanks for the video and responding back, just want to try to get as much info before experimenting on these hat patches
@@georgesavage3482 yes, you’ll need to put the heat and bond on the back first, then do your cut outs. Make sure you do not get it too hot. I set my press at 300 degrees and press it for 2-3 seconds.

Good info! Thank you. I really love be the site for leather and will be ordering very soon. My M1 is making a noise when it’s finished etching or cutting. Does your machine make any noise? It almost sounds like it’s grinding. I’ve cleaned the belts but didn’t want to take it apart to check it there’s something there I missed. The machine runs well. It didn’t make the noise when I first got it. I have had the machine for a month. Any thoughts?
Yes, over time it’s the ribbon wires and the rail system creates some noise. If my machine is moving back and forth a lot you tend to hear what seems like grinding but I’ve determined mine is the ribbon wire movement. Hello nice video! Is possible to use normal real leather with Heat'n Bond Ultra Hold Iron-On Adhesive? Is also possible to use an iron? Instead the heat gun thanks a lot for your videos
It depends on the thickness of the leather, if it’s to thick and stiff the heat n bond will not be strong enough to hold, you’ll have to stitch it too.

@@GianlucaTursi I prefer the heat gun over an iron, if you could use a hat press that would work better than an iron. If you use a iron make sure you use a heat silicon sheet over your leather.
Hey what are you using to hear the gun on I’m going to try this method
The gun has two settings low and high. I typically use the low setting. I also use a laser temperature sensor to make sure I’m reaching 285 degrees. I would practice on a old hat first and make you get the heat just right before using good hats.

Its not lasting..glew or heatpressing will come of after you wash it...only sewing keeps the patch longlasting on any hat...😂😂its just amateurish..
Yes, sewing is always a more permanent option.
