Do you have a link directly to the leatherette color/type you used? Or a number I can search on the site you linked please? Thank you! Hat looks amazing!
Hi Josh, I use a 3mm birchwood on top of my honeycomb work bed. I then do my engraving material on top. What adjustments do I need to make in Lightburn? I have changed the Z focus to 14 to compensate for the 3mm. Is that correct? Also do you have power settings luck with the metallic leatherette patches? I am going to order some sheets to do material tests. Thanks. I use a polar 350
Looks great - love the magnet trick you did on the honeycomb. Up until this point I have been using painters tape to keep the leather tight - your way is much better! Hat came out great too.
How long did it take to engrave that one patch? I have the 50W and I’m still learning how to use it. It took me about anywhere from 10 to 12 minutes to engrave 2x2 inch veg tan parch. My Settings were 300 speed and 14% power. How long does it take you to engrave up to 20 patches in one go? Thanks. Love the videos 🙌🏼
unplug the air assist tube from the head before engraving then pause and plug it back before cutting, you will not have to clean in between engraving and cutting
@@harryhanson6660 if you're using lightburn yes you can do that, but need a solenoid valve controlled by the controller which is not included in the machine from the factory
@@alexnadeaupelletier2287 That's not correct. I just bought a Polar and I can confirm the settings in LIghtburn work, and the Polar can turn the air assist off/on per line.

Exactly what I was thinking as well … but the vendor website lists laserable leatherette and all sorts of template products so I guess someone smart has figured out how to remove the evil chemicals and replace them with some thing that won’t kill us when it burns! Isn’t science wonderful?! 🤣

Josh, my family made party cakes like birthday an wedding cakes. Is that a Harley Davidson patch you made? Back in time, with no copy machines, I drew almost everything for cake displays. But I couldn't draw any "Disney", characters like," Mickey Mouse" or other copy righted signage, so not too be sued by big companies. An Harley Davidson is very strict in copyright laws. Even Harley exhaust sounds is copyrighted. Be careful making Harley or other big company signs without permission, an they won't give permission!
Has anyone had this work for them? I'm on the same OMTech machine, bought the exact same leatherettes (from JDS) and when I try to clean off the leatherette (same method), it leaves large dark splotches around the engraved sections (it almost looks like the leatherette is soaking up the cleaner?) I've tried changing the power/speed and so far i'm 0 for 16 on leather patches. @Wright's Woodworks, have you seen this?
Appreciate the video! Love when folks show the cut/layer specs on different projects. It’s helpful for us just getting into it! Great patch!
