Hi mate get rid of the metal seal bearings and just go to my local bearing service and get Japanese or German rubber sealed bearing when possible for quality bearings. I just finished fitting metal differentials and drive shafts on my grandson's vorteks 4x4 3s 😊

Got the HPI Firestorm home completely striped it down cleaned it all up had to order 2 parts for it to get it up and running an arm for the carb and a set of wheel pins as lost one so only 3 wheels on the wagon.
But video is up ready to be watched.
Family all good working all this weekend but that's life.

Those bearings were shocking mate. I honestly don't think I've seen worse. Is there any way you can fit a gromet or small gaitor over the outside of the gear and maybe Plasticoat it. Check out the Fast Eddy bearings, not sure about the uk availability though. All the best

Hiya buddy , Thanks for watching
Yeah unfortunately massive design flaw in the 3s range with Arrma , Im going to get a set of Jim's Bearings from Custom Rc upgrades here in the UK , the quality so im told is amazing , but unfortunate its a common issue .
Boils down to price point i suppose it was the same with my Vorteks/Typhon ive just got used to using them and servicing them .
      Hope your well buddy
      Chris :)

Any carbon steel bearing will rust up if wet & left, to help prevent you need to strip & clean/oil bearings everytime they get wet. Not practical to do though, fitting stainless steel bearings is better if you can get the required sizes in stainless.

Argeed buddy yes ! , As for servicing as you seen in the video i do normally do so but as you said its not something you should have to do .
Ive already book marked some better bearings here in the UK was planning to get them changed .
Thanks for commenting and watching also .
Remember to Boop the like button also

You know what I just absolutely love? And by love I mean I fucking hate it. Why didn’t Arrma just make their 3s line with metal diffs? Would that have been so hard to do? I’ve had the Big Rock for 4yrs or so now. It’ll run great for a bit until those plastic diffs (especially the rear for obvious reasons) will get chewed up. I don’t even bash it hard whatsoever. My son and I stick to mostly pavement and light dirt and grass. It doesn’t matter, though, because even just 3s becomes too much for these plastic gears. Then if you upgrade to a metal diff like I just did, the next weakest link is your drive shafts. Goodbye drive shafts. Ordered some GPM metal drive shafts. Should be here in a few days. I’ve read a lot about them. Lots of good, but plenty of criticism also.
Also… just got a V3 Big Rock a couple weeks ago because I was impatient for parts to fix my OG Big Rock, and I guess I just also wanted to have another one. Not much change in the QC department, but they did indeed widen the wheel base to 14” to match what we all did with the Hot Racing 10mm hub extenders to get some Proline Badlands on there. Arrma obviously listens, but they need to take note on where it really counts. They are a mostly great company IMO, but I want to see them do more in the structural integrity department, because it’s kinda become inexcusable at this point in the game when even cheap Chinese companies are offering all metal drivetrain in their 1/16 models. Super affordable. Super fun. Super well built. Wake up, Arrma.

Hey there buddy , And massive thanks for watching the video , yeah i have to agree with you on the Crown and input gears on the 3s range its a massive pain in the backside , Ive been running this 4s diff now for a good few months and no issues at all works great its a shame they cheapened out on the 3s range with it .
I mean really would not have cost them that much extra on the manufacturing process .
Ive just picked up the 4s Outcast and its refreshing to see that this is already in place so that is out of the way now .
As you say i love Arrma trucks , really got to say there my favorite right now and yes they do seem to listen , a complete re design on the 3s range would be amazing and hopefully metal diffs would be great .
I love my big rock 100% always have since getting it and its by far the best of the 3s trucks they have but as you say they do have there issues , but having said that so do most RCs
Thanks once again for watching and would love to see you sub to the channel if you enjoy the content , i have loads more to come .
      Stay awesome
      Chris :)
