    I literally stayed up all night to get this video out today. Now I'm exhausted but I hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas and enjoying their day. This also may not be my final video anymore as I have just recently gotten a request to do another holiday related movie so... I guess Stay Tuned :)

      I actually have a vintage copy of the book & it is so good. You should totally read it. Oh! And watch the one from 1984 with George C. Scott. As far as live action adaptations go, that one is the most faithful to the book. Almost 200 years old & it's still as popular & influential as ever. It's a timeless story that resonates with people of all generations.

    30:55 a lesson from Dickens, while one child's death may seem minor in the grand scheme of things, it sure doesn't seem that way to anyone who knew the child.

    38:20 This scene is what makes this version of A Christmas Carol so powerful to me, besides it's VERY close adaptation to the source material as I read it.
    This scene where Bob just pauses before Scrooge and he's forced to stare into the eyes of a man whos spirit is completely destroyed. He's found Bob's joy annoying and wasteful as what good does joy do but get in the way of work? He's tried to snuff it out of him for years ever since Bob started working for him, but to see it just completely stripped out of him, and all from the death of a child whose spirit was so full of joy and love despite being a weak cripple and sparked in him the seeds of compassion and love for his fellow man... breaks him too.😢

      I can't imagine how parents must feel when losing a child. Because once that parent realizes what happened to their child, what's the point anymore? Life is still worth living, but your soul is vanished in the process

    "even the dog is scared of him."
    That's an actual line in the book too. haha
    “Even the blind men’s dogs appeared to know him; and when they saw him coming on, would tug their owners into doorways and up courts; and then would wag their tails as though they said, 'No eye at all is better than an evil eye, dark master!”
    ― Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

    Marley's words are so humbling but truly make you think. "I wear the chain I forged in life," "I made it link by link, and yard by yard; I girded it on of my own free will, and of my own free will I wore it. Is its pattern strange to you?"

      Wait your learning about this movie? That’s actually kinda cool I never learned about movies in school. The only time i got to watch movies for school work was in my last year of hs I got to watch Cinderella man 🥊 and Dunkirk for history.

    I like that you pointed out that Scrooge was haunted by his own words. And for a more gradual emotional development by Scrooge, I would recommend the Muppet Christmas Carol. Michael Caine does an excellent job of showing a gradual change rather than just a sudden one when he sees his grave.

    The food Scrooge was eating by the fire is gruel which is a kind of oatmeal.

    • @johnnehrich9601
      @johnnehrich9601 7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, it is watery oatmeal, which can also be sipped. It can be sweetened with milk and with sugar added, and it actually is quite good if you doctor it up enough.

    Is it weird that I've had a similar dream to Scrooge in the grim reaper department about death?

    This film isn’t just animated. It’s motion capture. Jim Carrey and the other actors are providing the movements themselves, not animators.
