I have watched both your videos about how the toilet works! I REALLY appreciate your detail in how it works and how to clean it. This helps me in my decision to go tiny and tastes the stress and worry out of it for me!!! Thank you so much!
That's amazing! It's always good to hear that they were helpful. If you'd like help shopping for a tiny home, I'd love to help you at The Tiny House Concierge!✨
Super practical tips and tricks. I appreciate your content. Also love the earth friendly yet useful cleaning products you use. Great idea to put some drops of the theives oil in with your castile soap. Inspires me to want to put this toilet into a Tiny Air BNB some time. 10/10!
This is an adventure . Old lady in son’s Tiny house. Cleaning composting toilet 😂 Your video is so informative !! And…. You are so cute about a very non cute adventure!!! The freezer😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Even though your videos are straightforward, reading your responses in the comments section is an added bonus. There's a wealth of information there. Thanks for being so forthcoming. ❤🎉
I am looking at installing in an AirBNB "treehouse" that is a room separate from the main house. 12x 22 room. Is the fan loud enough to be annoying when going to sleep?
Tips if anyone wants to know how to make it NEVER smell Get some poopourri but the diaper pail version (it has the perfect nozzle) and spray number twos before covering with sawdust or whatever you put in your compost No smell EVER ❤❤❤
What a brilliant couple of videos about this. Thank you. Im sure I will have more questions but just want to ask now, the blue disc that slides out the way when you sit down - in reality does this get poop on it and can it be removed to clean thoroughly? Thanks again so much. And even better for you that you can put it in the compost trash, here in the UK thats not something we’d be allowed to put in it, just general garden waste unfortunately.
Hello! I'm glad you found these videos helpful. To answer your question, the blue disc COULD be removed, but you'd have to be pretty motivated. A pice of poo might occasionally get on the blue disc, but it's rare, and easy to wipe off. I keep a spray bottle of alcohol nearby and just spray and wipe with a tissues if anything goes wrong, lol. Thanks for watching!
@@tinyhouseconcierge Hey, thanks for replying so quickly. This does seem a good system. Its hard to decide between the Villa and the new Tiny. They both look like they have the same features but seem to have made the Tiny look more stylish. Do you know anyone who has that one?
@@StevenInCornwall Of course! I've had my eye on the Tiny as well, for van building purposes. In a van, it would come down to space for me, and in a tiny house, my concern would be how often I'd have to empty it. As a single human, I empty the Villa every 3 weeks-ish. I hope that helps! And if there's anything else I can do, feel free to reach out. I offer tiny home consulting, and have a number of other resources as well. Cheers! www.TinyHouseConcierge.com
Thank you so much for this. I’ve just moved into a tiny house a couple of weeks ago, and today will be my first time changing out the Separett composting toilet. 😮
Thank you for sharing this video! I’ve been wanting a more in depth explanation of using one of these toilets and your videos have been the best at doing so. I wanted to ask if it’s okay to use and discard flushable wipes in this or would that add too much moisture to the compost area?
I'm glad it was helpful! You ask a great question. I have occasionally used wipes with no issues, but in general, the less moisture, the better. One option would be to evaluate how dirty the wipe is. You could throw lightly used ones in the trash and anything with poop in the bucket. Ultimately, if the bucket gets too much moisture, you'll just have to change it sooner. Thanks for watching!❤
It’s just me and I change it every 2-3 weeks. If you throw limited TP in in, you could probably go a month as a single person. I know of one person with a Separett in an Airbnb, and they say it’s worked out fine. I would include instructions, though! Thanks for watching!🌟
The spray I'm using in the video is a 50/50 solution of alcohol and 70% isopropyl alcohol. I also use white vinegar, though, both to spray the urine funnel and to pour about a cup down the pipes weekly. If the Separett smells, 99% of the time it's the urine funnel and white vinegar will fix it instantly. Essential oil wise, I will put a few drops of 'Thieves' oil by YoungLiving into some Dr. Bronner's castile soap to clean the whole toilet when I'm doing a deep clean. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
I have been wanting and needing to switch out my regular toilet for a Separett. So thank you for reminding me. Did you buy yours directly from the US authorized dealer? 😊
@@saucer61 I'm glad it was helpful! I purchased my tiny home secondhand, and a Separett was included in the sale. I'd definitely buy one again! Thanks for watching! :-)
I like the Separett because the composting happens elsewhere. With the Separett, the solids are dried out with a fan in a bucket lined with a biodegradable bag, and then that "doggy bag" can be put in a composting trash bin (at least in areas). With the Nature's Head, the composting happens INSIDE the toilet. You have to put media like coconut husks in with the poo, and crank it every time you use it until you eventually get dirt. I've heard it really is dirt, but I love my Separett far too much to experiment at this point. Thanks for watching!🙌
Informative video but for the sake of constructive honest criticism- I would work on being more concise. It took a full 4 minutes to get to cleaning the loo!
Never thought I would be watching and liking a video of someone cleaning a toilet online, but, here we are! 😅
Haha, and I never thought I would make such a video! As you said, but here we are! Thanks for watching. 🙂
no grosser than cleaning a regular toilet! Thanks for your good humor and advice
Haha, that's a good way of looking at it! Thanks for watching!😄

Greatful for the fan
Glad for electricity
I’ll have the same toilet in my Teacup Tiny, great information, loved the tips about the vinegar and compost bags! 👌🏻
I can't wait for you to get your Teacup!

How often do you change your waste container? Once weekly? Ok solution for airbnb TinyHome with screened guests?

Hi! Wondering which model you have? Is this the tiny model?
I have the “Villa” model. There is a “Tiny” model, though!
would love to see a link to the Separett model or model number you are using of their toilet
Hello, thanks for watching! I will see about that link. In the meantime, it's the Separett Villa, and the model number is 1067-03.
Nice good info!
I'm glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Do you use RV or regular TP?
Hey! Thanks for watching. I use regular TP.
Can you post the recipe for the spray with essential oils you use in the urine diverter please ?
The spray I'm using in the video is a 50/50 solution of alcohol and 70% isopropyl alcohol. This makes me want a compost toilet in my regular house! Lol
Hopefully, someday that will be the norm!😄
What toilet do you have in YOUR tiny house? Is it as easy to clean as the Separett?
I have been wanting and needing to switch out my regular toilet for a Separett. So thank you for reminding me. Did you buy yours directly from the US authorized dealer? 😊
@@saucer61 I'm glad it was helpful! I purchased my tiny home secondhand, and a Separett was included in the sale. I'd definitely buy one again! Thanks for watching! :-)

Why did you choose the seperett over nature's head or others?
I like the Separett because the composting happens elsewhere. With the Separett, the solids are dried out with a fan in a bucket lined with a biodegradable bag, and then that "doggy bag" can be put in a composting trash bin (at least in areas). With the Nature's Head, the composting happens INSIDE the toilet. You have to put media like coconut husks in with the poo, and crank it every time you use it until you eventually get dirt.
