FINALLY an honest in depth video on composting toilets! Definitely was a subject to discuss and to some it may be awkward but hey we are all human and we all do the same "business" and the truth needed to be said. Thank you for producing honest and entertaining videos on tiny house living.
Wow! I have so much more appreciation for the cleaning you do before/after a guest comes to visit! I feel bad! I appreciate your thorough explanation of how these work. I am in awe of the spinning bucket technology!
Thank you for going in depth about this, i know its a little taboo to talk toilets and poop, but its so helpful when planning which route to go; flush, incinerate, compost, etc.
Planning van life for future homelessness, sadly. Some questions: 1. Have you tried coco core for the toilet? 2. Rather than the chips? 3. What is that pipe on the top? Exhaust for smells? I probably wont use it with power so I assume I could just use a cover for the top? Thanks!
I have been using a Nature's Head composting toilet in my 38 foot 5th wheel RV for 9 years. I use peat moss that I buy at Home Depot or Menards. The urine goes into a separate bottle which is dumped as needed. I like a composting toilet as opposed to having to dump a black water tank periodically as i like to camp off the grid when I can. I installed solar panels on my trailer roof and live very comfortably.
Way informative. Thank you. All other videos just show the toilet. …. Now I know ….. and knowing is half the battle! Anyone is welcome to comment the rest of this pop culture phrase!
Thanks, this was very helpful. I have a SunMar at my offgrid cabin and it's been an utter disaster. Mostly due to the poor handling of the liquids. This seems like a far better solution. Question - you mention your daughter - how do the kids do with this? You mention that you have to clean the "rainbows" off the various parts of the internal housing - are the kids the biggest offenders in this regard?
Thankfully I don’t have to even think about the pee because it joins my gray water line and gets diluted by my sink and shower water. No weird pee jug to deal with!!!
Wait. There's no composting medium in the bucket?!? I have an OGO in my van and use coconut coir. The OGO has a mechanical mixer. You can push the button while you're still seated and never have to actually see any poop. 👍🏼
Not with this particular model. Also I don’t actually compost this as of yet. There are no services in my area so for now it is just going out as regular waste.
OMG...I can't believe what you have to do re: the toilet. I would have to wear a mask and rubber gloves when taking the plastic bag out. Or possibly go full Hazmat!😂 For me... life is to short...and God forbid I never have a flushing toilet

Nicely explained. Kudos to you! Been thinking about a composting toilet. You answered many questions.
So appreciate your honesty & humor! As they say, everybody poops! Very thorough demo - the good & the ugly. Thank you!
Everybody does poop 💩😁
How does that work when one has a menstrual cycle?
So happy you are posting again! Your videos are so professionally done!
Thanks for the information 👍
You’re welcome!
Interesting info, I’ve never heard a demo so enjoyed all the great info. Thanks.

Thank you for the info. It was very informative. I never knew how a compost Toilet worked before.
Listen, it is so good to see you back on here more often. Your positivity is contagious!
Awe thank you so much. What a wonderful comment to start my day ❤️
Toooo excellent!! I feel enlightened and in an alert state of readiness… 🙏🤩
✅🤣
Good to know how this works! Great explanation and very humorous!
Love that sign, 'you are magic, own your shit!' 😅
Hi. Very informative. Off topic....Your shower curtains are so pretty!❤😍 Keep the videos coming. 😊

Very informative.. as others have commented: folks dmshiw these but did not explain them.
Excellent job on the how to!
That was a great video, but I would have to stick with a regular toilet. 😊❤
😆 glad I could help with that decision 🚽🧻
I'm glad to see you are comfortable with your toilet. This wouldn't be for me! Thank you for sharing.

Surprisingly that was interesting. Also, seems to be a lot of work but worth it to be off-grid.
Wow interesting. thanks
You did a great job walking us through this. Awesome information!
Question
Is menstruation solid or liquid?
I would definitely say solid! The cedar shavings help with absorption.
@@trailheadtiny I believe it. I used to use pine horse pellets as kitty litter. Worked best, lasted longer, and MUCH cheaper. 👍
Way informative. Thank you. All other videos just show the toilet.

I thought I heard somewhere that you were selling your tiny? If so, please reach out. I live in CO also and am interested as I love it

Thankfully they are great at leaving no sign of rainbows. This made me laugh 😆🌈
What about the pee? How do you deal with the pee? Where does that go???
Thankfully I don’t have to even think about the pee because it joins my gray water line and gets diluted by my sink and shower water. No weird pee jug to deal with!!!

Where does the pee go? Into grey water? Or do you have to drain a bucket?
Exactly. The urine diverted line joins the gray water line so I don’t even have to think about that, thankfully!
@@trailheadtinydoes your grey water goes to the city sewer?
PS I love your hair!

Informative
I’ll take a flush toilet anyday! 😅
It’s not for everybody 😆
Every time I watch a compost toilet review I know which one I'll get....SunMar.
