This is bang on. I went from being a a high level athlete fell running, cycle racing etc to having ME and barely being able to get to the top of my street. Over many years of martial arts and movement training i realised that true health is acheived through a balanced, mindful approach to exercise, movement and meditation. Ultimately i try to bring a meditative mindset into everything i do. It is in the emptiness that we find true fullness. I love your channel Josh! Very inspiring. Thankyou!!

Stepping back, slowing the hectic hustle and bustle lifestyle down, and truly existing within your mind seems to be a practice that’s fading into the shadows. There’s so much value to it because our headspace is truly what enables us to survive and preserve sanity more than anything else. I had the same experience as you with the appendicitis and also had hernias as well, it’s a humbling experience realizing how fickle and fragile our physicality can be. Sitting still and facing “the void” that we all feel inside of us on some level when we are completely still with nothing to distract us is the greatest way to evolve and heal addictions/crutches of all sorts. This video was beautiful:)
I'm a runner, and I had an injury that took away my ability to walk, and my general health (mental and physical) deteriorated very quickly. A year and a half had past since my injury and I can again walk (with some pain still), and I using your videos to teach and inspire me to move in many ways that I never though possible. In just a month, the improvement is amazing (to me). Thank you very much!

I'm still working on the sleep thing. My teen needs to be at swim at 5:00 a.m., and I still get him up, fed, and out the door. As for the rest, you motivate me to keep trying, even as I close on 60, and struggle with stiffness and lack of range. Repeating a mantra. “ commitment and discipline equals focus” Developing a habit makes me feel good. It’s a simple one but it leads onto other habits.

Thank you for this beautiful sharing. An experience a friend and I had when hiking up a tough part of a mountain was to focus only on two steps ahead. We did it very slowly and it became a deep meditation. It felt amazing and weirdly there was no effort going up and we passed up it quickly by going slower. Slowing down can be so beneficial.

Super helpful take on a healthy life. One point that’s important to get right is that our thoughts come before feelings. Our thoughts create the neuropeptides that create our feelings. This gives us ultimate control over our feelings, through being intentional with what we think. If the opposite were true, that our feelings give birth to our thoughts, then our thought would not be anchored to anything stable. After all, we all know how fast feelings can fluctuate.
Yesterday you just made my day. I was soo angry and felt bad after a conflict. I wanted to train in the evening but I had no energy, so I trained with very thin resistance bands just beside the forest by night. Kind of a low resistance training with long reps. I listened my body and feeling, that was good. Then I thought about what you said in one of your videos, smth like "doing what movement I want", spontenaously. Then I just did it, I runned, jumped, and did weird things. Like a kid who's playing with nothing in the wild. Maaan I felt so better after all of this, I find a new pleasure, an ultra simple pleasure which needs nothing to be practice, that kind of pleasure are big wealths ! And now after watched few of your videos I was cooking then I was spontaneously kind of dancing witout music while I was cooking. Man I usually hate cooking, that's boring, and I'm kind of depressed I usually never dance except when I'm so happy lol. But this time I danced without being happy and that made me happy, and I danced without point. Damn you are literally the most inspiring RUclipsr I ever seen since 2008 that I check RUclips. The nature arround you, your body, your movements, your haircut/beard, your calm voice, etc .. THAT is a hominid ! That is a homo sapiens sapiens ! Healthy af. I fuckin love it haha, That's so rare in this weird society. You'd be almost a legend for me if you were strongly ecologist lol. Anyway, Sorry for my english. Peace

I hope many will open their eyes after they listen to your talks :) I've started to go in nature and be bored - just sit on a big rock in nature and sit for hours and just be bored. At first, I got a major bad conscience, but it has gradually disappeared. It gives me a clear view on many things in my life and on myself - body and soul(or what ever we call it). Among other things, I belive it's about the brain developing new connections when you're bored. The brain begins to move out of the thought stream that you always have when you are in the middle of daily life and constantly have chores and places to go or be. Keep on - live a lifetime :)

I tend to romanticize "health", and for long time my main focus was "fitness"... that led me to a deep emptiness cause' almost all my attention was put on that, as well as diet and sleep... but I was missing something else... The point is that I realized (throughout your videos/walking/meditation/journaling...) that life is not only physical activity, but something else :) finding passion in those tiny things is even more important than having one single big passion ❤ man, I live in another hemisphere (from Chile) but I really feel your words... I really like your videos, but this was so inspiring. I experience this myself, after I was operated two years ago. Thank you and keep on with this wonderful videos that have already making a great difference on my mind and hopes
I suffer from depression and anxiety. I’m unsure if my old daily routine helped me with depression because the activities helped, or if simply doing anything positive regardless of what it was help me make a mind shift. I have since stopped my routine and my depression returned strong. I’m unsure if I stopped then depression returned or if depression returned and therefore I stopped. All that said, my routine was get out of bed as soon as I get up, drink tall glass of water, meditate, journal, thank the world for another beautiful day, cardio exercise (skateboard) and calisthenics, shower, eat breakfast (vegan home made whole food), sit outside in the sun. Walk later in the day. It took a lot of time to do this entire morning routine but felt worth it. I’m also extreme and anxious thinking makes me search for answers to solve my problems where in many cases just practicing self acceptance would be fine (according to my therapist). But I will say with the morning routine I felt an overall subtle feeling of optimism. I had all the same problems and was still so anxious and many times depressed. But I felt line I could push forward and it will be ok eventually.
I would offer this... Don't overthink why or how or if the "morning routine" is working. Just do what you can and follow good feelings. You can't out think depression but you can out-feel it :) !!!
Yeah, every time you did that routine you were improving yourself, you were creating a better future. It's important to be flexible too - sometimes things will happen in life where you can't do it all exactly the way you want so you need to work around obstacles.
What i admire most is the journey! You have walked a long road coming to this point. And that is what makes what you say and the way you view our world much more meaningful. It shows that they are not just words, but experience. Keep on going and exploring! And dont forget to tell us abou it!

As a person who loves movement and sometimes can get obsessed about "success" and goals, it's helpful to see someone like you with a lot of expertise in that area, transcending that state to be more free, happy and content. I can see it comes from a place of authenticity and love. 🥰
Super helpful take on a healthy life. One point that’s important to get right is that our thoughts come before feelings. Our thoughts create the neuropeptides that create our feelings. This gives us ultimate control over our feelings, through being intentional with what we think.
If the opposite were true, that our feelings give birth to our thoughts, then our thought would not be anchored to anything stable. After all, we all know how fast feelings can fluctuate.
Yesterday you just made my day. I was soo angry and felt bad after a conflict. I wanted to train in the evening but I had no energy, so I trained with very thin resistance bands just beside the forest by night. Kind of a low resistance training with long reps. I listened my body and feeling, that was good. Then I thought about what you said in one of your videos, smth like "doing what movement I want", spontenaously. Then I just did it, I runned, jumped, and did weird things. Like a kid who's playing with nothing in the wild. Maaan I felt so better after all of this, I find a new pleasure, an ultra simple pleasure which needs nothing to be practice, that kind of pleasure are big wealths !
And now after watched few of your videos I was cooking then I was spontaneously kind of dancing witout music while I was cooking. Man I usually hate cooking, that's boring, and I'm kind of depressed I usually never dance except when I'm so happy lol. But this time I danced without being happy and that made me happy, and I danced without point. Damn you are literally the most inspiring RUclipsr I ever seen since 2008 that I check RUclips. The nature arround you, your body, your movements, your haircut/beard, your calm voice, etc .. THAT is a hominid ! That is a homo sapiens sapiens ! Healthy af. I fuckin love it haha, That's so rare in this weird society. You'd be almost a legend for me if you were strongly ecologist lol. Anyway, Sorry for my english. Peace

I have such a hard time just sitting and not “doing” or thinking about “doing!” My mind races a mile a minute and I’m so anxious, which means I don’t sleep well either. Excellent and conscious approach to life! Experiencing things like body movement, strength and the natural circadian rhythm are elemental, yet so few people are able or willing to do it. Just walking in nature will strengthen the resolve and resiliency to chart one's own path.
Thanks a bunch for sharing. I hope many will open their eyes after they listen to your talks :) I've started to go in nature and be bored - just sit on a big rock in nature and sit for hours and just be bored. At first, I got a major bad conscience, but it has gradually disappeared. It gives me a clear view on many things in my life and on myself - body and soul(or what ever we call it). Among other things, I belive it's about the brain developing new connections when you're bored. The brain begins to move out of the thought stream that you always have when you are in the middle of daily life and constantly have chores and places to go or be. Keep on - live a lifetime :)

This video is so damn inspiring 💙 but most importantly, it really make sence... I tend to romanticize "health", and for long time my main focus was "fitness"... that led me to a deep emptiness cause' almost all my attention was put on that, as well as diet and sleep... but I was missing something else... The point is that I realized (throughout your videos/walking/meditation/journaling...) that life is not only physical activity, but something else :) finding passion in those tiny things is even more important than having one single big passion ❤ man, I live in another hemisphere (from Chile) but I really feel your words... I suffer from depression and anxiety. I’m unsure if my old daily routine helped me with depression because the activities helped, or if simply doing anything positive regardless of what it was help me make a mind shift.
I have since stopped my routine and my depression returned strong. I’m unsure if I stopped then depression returned or if depression returned and therefore I stopped.
All that said, my routine was get out of bed as soon as I get up, drink tall glass of water, meditate, journal, thank the world for another beautiful day, cardio exercise (skateboard) and calisthenics, shower, eat breakfast (vegan home made whole food), sit outside in the sun. Walk later in the day.
It took a lot of time to do this entire morning routine but felt worth it. I’m also extreme and anxious thinking makes me search for answers to solve my problems where in many cases just practicing self acceptance would be fine (according to my therapist). But I will say with the morning routine I felt an overall subtle feeling of optimism. I had all the same problems and was still so anxious and many times depressed. But I felt line I could push forward and it will be ok eventually.
I would offer this... Don't overthink why or how or if the "morning routine" is working. Just do what you can and follow good feelings. You can't out think depression but you can out-feel it :) !!!
Yeah, every time you did that routine you were improving yourself, you were creating a better future. It's important to be flexible too - sometimes things will happen in life where you can't do it all exactly the way you want so you need to work around obstacles.
I enjoy as much reading a book as listening to your depth. Thanks!
