Funny review of this movie I've read: " Every work of art begins with a question. With *Parthenope,* Paolo Sorrentino asks: _What if a woman was hot?_ " 😂
It's probably the worst of Sorrentino's films. It's incredibly pretentious, but then it's also so painfully flat that you can't even call it campy. The only good thing about it is the visuals; but even that gets tiring after a while.
@@henrygifford544hey, can’t say nothing about “parthenope” cause I didn’t watch it yet. But yours is a risky sentence! Maybe, as it often happens for foreign directors, you missed some of his oldest movies like “Le conseguenze dell’amore” or “L’amico di famiglia” or “Il Divo”. I’m assuming you’re not Italian and you didn’t watch these movies. Probably I’m wrong. Otherwise, give them a look. They’re masterpieces.

Wow what a trailer, absolutely beautiful shots and music This seems very oddly similar to Challengers but if it's well made enough I literally don't care - must watch!!
All digital video has some filtering. Even in film days, the type of film you used and post processing would end up with a slightly different color (not to mention filters used on film cameras). Maybe you just mean how much natural light is used in this trailer? The night shots are very bright so lots of processing and backlighting. The lighting, blocking and cinematography are all top notch.
@kkattrap Yes, maybe they use filters but it doesn't feel realistic. Trees, water, woods feel real because it projects a vibe which calms your mind even in a violent movie but these vibes are gone 5 minutes and you don't feel like watching. The Thin Red, The Last Samurai, all great movies before 2010. Even Inception was a very good beautiful looking movie. I don't know what happened after that maybe because they changed the cinematographer.
@@mmayer1558 It's about vibe of realistic world which oozes through the screen, when you add filters it ruins it. Filters are for specific films like psychological drama. When a movie is about nature, nature should be like nature in real like not like anxiety driven yellow filters. Outlander came out in 2014 and that show is so beautiful interior lighting as well as outside. Lightings they use these days are too bleak. I don't like Greig Fraser he uses too much bleak lighting.
So glad marvel sterilized era is slowly ending and real cinema is coming back who is not afraid of sexuality or sex scenes and mature storytelling. A24 and neon are best studios.🔥
what? marvel is just a small piece of movie history. There was already so much before. And there will always be more thoughtful movies. this director (Sorrentino) has been doing movies like this for a while
You say the same comment in different ways. There’s always been very good indie made movies, even when Marvel was at its peak. No need to bring down other genres of movies for the same to “uplift” others. Enjoy the trailer without being weird.
You are giving too much credit to Marvel movies. They are products designed for a very specific kind of moviegoers. Good movies have always existed and are still made around the world. Marvel is not the cinema,. just a tiny fraction of it.
Sex scenes and nudity isn’t gonna go away because some audience are against it. Indie film studios always including them especially director like Pablo Sorrentino who is not shy away from explicit scene

Ridiculous.
In the Greek myth, Parthenope is the siren who committed suicide after failing to enchant Odysseus. Her body was brought by the tide to the place where Castel dell'Ovo is now built, and for this she gave the name to the city that would have later become Neapolis, Naples. 🧜♀
@@Shionshowahahaha no! Indie films are just movies done outside of big studios. But big studios exist all over the world, not only Hollywood. This movie is being produced by Pathè (one of the biggest production companies in Europe) and The Apartment Pictures, British distribution company. Also, Warner Bros is distributing this film, potentially being the reason you’re watching a nice trailer on RUclips in the first place!
@@Shionshowa No, it's just... film. "Indie" is a term to distinguish American movies financed independently from those produced by major Hollywood studios. It was popularized in the '80s and '90s when it became much easier for individuals, such as Steven Soderbergh and Spike Lee, to make feature films, thanks to improvements such as small film cameras and the emergence of American film festivals as an accessible sales platform. An "indie" production company may distribute a foreign film from time to time, but they're not seen as "indie" films in their home countries. Only here. Many foreign films are made with government financing and backing from major European corporations such as the BBC and the Sky Group.
Too hard to parse. I remember Ferrari and May December being Sky films in the UK, while they were Neon and Netflix respectively in the US. But who actually invested in them? The random audience member has no idea, but in the vernacular these are indies. They just are. The same with a BBC coproduction like The Outrun. It’s a Sundance movie. I’m sure it’s up for British Independent Film Awards and Indie Spirit.

Since Gary Oldman said he’s retiring I’m curious if this is one of his last films.
I would imagine it is…if he’s retiring…
I'm pretty sure I also just read something saying he'll play Jackson Lamb as long as Apple are making Slow Horses. So.. who knows when he'll retire.
Something about this gives me vibes to “And God Created Woman” with Brigitte Bardot. Definitely liking this
Cinematography though 👏👏
