This looks like an extended perfume commercial 😂
It is impossible for women to coexist with them. unable to survive without them. They do, however, make the world go round.
This seems like an extended perfume commercial
I look at a movie like this and I don’t think for one second that Gary Oldman is the most random one in the cast but here we are
She resembles Maria Tomei! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
True😂😂😂😂
Gary Oldman: I'm retiring.
Paolo Sorrentino: Want to be in my movie where you hang out on the Mediterranean with the most beautiful young people alive?
Gary Oldman: I think I got one more in me.
Nooo he can't retire just yet😭

@@frypan8942 Not until Squadron 42 releases at least.
😂😉
Funny review of this movie I've read:
" Every work of art begins with a question. With Parthenope, Paolo Sorrentino asks: _What if a woman was hot?_ " 😂
It's probably the worst of Sorrentino's films. It's incredibly pretentious, but then it's also so painfully flat that you can't even call it campy. The only good thing about it is the visuals; but even that gets tiring after a while.
@@nikhilajith8880watch his film only for the beautiful woman
@@nikhilajith8880 Sorrentino has made one great film, and I'm beginning to think he did it completely by accident.
@@henrygifford544hey, can’t say nothing about “parthenope” cause I didn’t watch it yet. But yours is a risky sentence! Maybe, as it often happens for foreign directors, you missed some of his oldest movies like “Le conseguenze dell’amore” or “L’amico di famiglia” or “Il Divo”. I’m assuming you’re not Italian and you didn’t watch these movies. Probably I’m wrong. Otherwise, give them a look. They’re masterpieces.

just another 304
So, Malena?
@@niidea927 My man.
"Parthenope" is a smart title ! Parthenope is supposed to have been a Siren of Greek Mythology, who drowned willingly when she failed to seduce Odysseus (in the Greek versions, Sirens were bird-like, not fishes), and whose tomb was in current Napoli, and her name was often used to mean Naples as a periphrase. So the main character is both the seductive figure of the femme fatale, but also the beauty of the place - Italian streets in the sun, something you can fall in love for one Summer.
No, no Siren is named in the Odyssey.
@@zoebaggins90 In the Odyssey the Sirens are indeed not named (they're just referred in the dual, which can either imply they were two or that it was a feature of their names which context we lack). But please note that I didn't mention the Odyssey as a source for this myth. The main mentions of Parthenope actually comes from two Roman accounts of Greek mythology: Strabo, who just gives the name of Parthenope to a siren, and Servius in his comments to Ovid's Metamorphosis, who adds the detail that she tried and failed to seduce Odysseus.
More weird, degenerate, foreign, subversive, divisive, harmful messaging and propaganda.
Also why starbucks worships the devil. They use the sirens in their logo. Don't forget the devil comes to kill and destroy.
I've read an interesting take from an Italian explaining that the main protagonist is the allegory of Naples itself as she's named after it (literally, it's in the first scene). This makes some scenes that otherwise seemingly have no sense meaningful and adds another layer of meaning to other ones. Brilliant movie.
This looks like a movie that was made in the 90’s that wasn’t released and then after restoring the footage we are now finally getting it
All his movies feel like that.
Gary Oldman would be younger in that case.
this is a goated comment
So a movie from when they still made good movies?
In that case would that make him gary Newman?@@koalabunnyy
Parthenope was one of the three bewitching sirens of the Odyssey. Disappointed by Ulysses' refusal, she committed suicide and her body was carried by the currents to the gulf where Napoli stands today. 🧜🏼♀️💙
A man really has to tie himself up to stop being ruined by the likes of her, no?
Guess shell die at the end of this then
Thanks saved me time from having to google it 🙏
Grazie, Giulia! Ciao
Not sure what you’re referring to but it is definitely not the Odyssey. May or may not feature Odysseus, but not the Odyssey.
"I don't want to steal one minute of your youth from you" - Count Dracular is a reformed character!

Great review.thanks I must say it looks very photographic
More weird, degenerate, foreign, subversive, divisive, harmful messaging and propaganda.
Subtitles maybe?
I remember in a high school media class we watched "Duel" without sound. The point was to teach us that a good director can convey the message without dialogue.
"Because I don't want to steal one minute of your youth from you".... Absolutely profound. If you're young and beautiful, and trust me, you are all beautiful, live every single moment to it's absolute fullest. Dwell not, live, dance. Tomorrow becomes today, with maddening haste.
beautifully said
You don`t need to be young to do these things. I know people in their 60s who enjoy every minute of their lives. Perhaps more as they are retired and have all the time in the world to enjoy this amazing life and planet. Health and a positive outlook on life is all you need to live life to it`s fullest.

One thing about A24 is they’re always gonna hit it off with the aesthetics.
"They" are doing no such thing. The cinematographer and the director are "hitting it off with the aesthetics" - what do you think A24 do, exactly? Do you think they're some entity that exists on set, guiding the way a movie looks?

@@aris9560I agree
No idea why EVERYONE is comparing this to Challengers. In that movie it wasn’t like everyone was falling head over heel for Zendaya, only two guys she pursued relationships with and didn’t even care about becuz she had her own pursuit, this movie is far more like a classic Greek myth where every single man who sees her is in love with her and becomes crazy. And the character is supposed to be naive, innocent, nice to everyone and just likes everything, not at all like Challengers
Sorrentino is as close to modern day Fellini as it gets. Challengers is hack stuff. People who are saying that just don't know what they're talking about.
This betch is the Most Average looking ... and somewhat like Zendaya.
thats why maybe
she is literally making out with two dudes
The one scene in this trailer where one guy is kissing why she plays with the other guys neck looks very similar to a shot in Challengers where they are both tryna kiss zendaya. The whole fighting over a single woman, but people have a recency bias against Challengers. Other than that this movie seems totally different.
Reminds me of MALENA, where in a small town in Italy during WWII, every man is in love with Monica Bellucci's character, while all the women where envious of her.
Stunning cinematography. Reminds me of 60s
its from the last century for sure. maybe even millenium. or dark age.

PLOT TWIST: The protagonist ends up actually being a siren like the mythical Greek character of the same name 😂
So this is what Jackson Lamb got up to in Italy then😀
Weirdly, they kept the farting for this. He's standing in a church with soft morning light filtering through the stained glass, and says something about how beauty is timeless and has value in and of itself, and then farts loudly. I guess the director was making a statement about the human condition.
Anyone else think the scene at 0:28 with the girl dancing at the club and two guys watching is a reference to the movie Layer Cake (Daniel Craig, Sienna Miller)?
