I love Def Leppard. Joe Elliot the lead singer is just wonderful. The drummer lost his arm in a car accident and had a modified drum kit and kept on rocking! Awesome song and tribute to Marilyn Monroe who died young and all we had were “her face from magazines” just photographs instead of her physical presence. Def Leppard🔥🔥🔥Great song!
Lead singer Joe Elliot has a huge crush on the beautiful Marilyn Monroe. And wrote this song for her! Next up - Stage Fright, Die Heart The Hunter, Too Late (For Love) and Bringing On The Heartache!!
The Lead Singer, Joe Elliott was asked in an interview how he was chosen to be the Lead. He said because he had the largest L.P. collection at his flat and he was the tallest.
About 10 years ago. Def Leppard & Taylor Swift performed this together on CMT “Cross Roads”, where they would team up rock & country stars together. The video is 🔥
OMG...15 years old and loving this song! I wasn't actually into metal in the 80's but I liked this song. I'm so glad to see a young person into this song. I love your reviews. You generally get it right.
Lead singer is Joe Elliot. This was the last album drummer Rick Allen had both of his arms. Lost one in a bad car accident before they recorded the next album, the record breaking “Hysteria” album.
You should check out "Let's Get Rocked" by Def Leppard. Preferably the Live in Sheffield video. If you think Joe can hold a note, you won't believe how long he holds one in the video.
I remember this song playing on the iocal Dallaas rock station while drinking beer and playing water volley ball in the pool at the apartments. Oh yes the memories from the 80s when i was in my 20s! 😂
Lead Singer JOE ELLIOTT-Girl’s were in love with him. Guys wanna be him. 🇬🇧 🎤 🎶 FYI, just saw him sing with the rest of the Def Lep boys at the SoFi in Inglewood (LA) last Sunday, and they killed it. Joe has long grey hair now, and a little chubby, but he still hold a candle to his younger self in the vocal department.
I loved this song when I was in high school, but it wasn't until I got older that I realized they were also paying homage to a couple of songs that influenced them, and, cleverly, in one verse! There was a band called Slade that was way more popular in the UK than America - they did the original versions of "Cum on Feel the Noize" and "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" - that had another hit song in England called "Look Wot You Dun." After the "hair bands" got big in the US, Slade did have one major American hit - "Run Runaway." Around the same time, there was a actor/singer named David Essex - you've probably already reacted to his biggest song, "Rock On" - and in 1974, he made a movie called STARDUST, which was a drama about a rock star who goes from obscurity to huge success, but becomes a recluse and loses touch with the world. It's uncannily reminiscent of the sad trajectory of Michael Jackson. And the title song of that movie had an opening line that said, "Oooh, look what you've done to the rock'n'roll clown". So in the chorus of "Photograph" when Joe Elliott sings, "Look what you've done to the rock'n'roll clown," he's tipping his hat to two songs at once!
From album On through the Night single (Hello America) on I have been a big fan. Their catalog is impressive. Also fed my obsession with the Union Jack 🇬🇧.
The album that propelled them to Super Stardom, this was a huge single from it, great song on an album full of them. Do Too Late for Love from it next, great tune you would love. They were the real deal, a hard rock classic of a band! Enjoy. 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶🔥
@@TheRetroManRandySavage Yep CDs were in 1982 but not common as Cassette and took a least till the end of the decade to take the place of casettes mid 1990's.
I like this song because the 📷 video makes it mystical and enigmatic! I've read some comments, and some people are saying this isn't a hair band! Someone else stated Cheap Trick isn't a hair band either! Bottom line, everyone has their own opinion on any topic so not everyone will always be on the same page! Bye Angela!
@@Lovegun-w4s I remember the very first thing I saw on MTV in August of 1981, when it hit cable. It was an REO Speedwagon concert. Nina Blackwood was the VJ.
Love this band. College years (early 1980s), real MTV, etc. i guess we had fewer "definitions" back then. Def Leppard weren't considered a "hair band", rather the pop edge of heavy metal, like The Scorpions (same era)... or just Rock?
The controversy over what a Hair Band is is prompting me to say that I consider a Hair Band to be basically an 80s phenomenon when a new wave of bands were performiing....most of the members of a particular band sporting the same uniquely and impeccably crafted often big hairstyle ...each band's identity based on their appearance almost as much as on their artistry and talent as singers and musicians...but really I don't know...this is my assumption!
Man those old videos were cringe. The song, at any rate, is quite good, and still holds up. Nice melody and construction; Mutt Lange, the producer, probably had something to do with that.
A Def Leppard song that should be a classic is simply called “Love.” Please don’t confuse it with “Love Bites.” ruclips.net/video/QKKbK_zaRao/видео.htmlsi=4MdRnWHQ0NiEbCOw

I think this was one of the most overproduced albums of all time. Tommy Mottola spent millions making it. It didn't start making money for years after it came out.

Now, waaaay back when MTV actually played music videos, this was on regular rotation almost hourly.
5:05: "Screw the photograph, I want to touch and feel you". Gave me a chuckle Angela.

Bringing On The Heartache 💔
is another good one
Glad you did this one. This song hooked me and I became a fan.
Takes me right back to the 8th grade ❤. I got to see them twice (before and after Rick's accident) and both shows were incredible.
Listening to this and watching you Angela, song just fit. Haha. Your beautiful. Def leopard always awesome
The song you mentioned "are you getting it?" Is titled Armageddon It. Thanks for this pretty lady.

Pyromenia is a superb album , great songs even those banned on the radio such as " Die Hard The Hunter " and " Billy's Got A Gun "

This was before the drummer lost his arm in an automobile accident. Even after that the band would not go on without him in the band.
I respect these guys a ton for hanging with Rick when he lost his arm. And they went on to even bigger times and events
However on this song producer Mutt Lange decided to use a drum machine.
A real banger from Def Leppard-Colin Ward
