It’s the whole band. They all sing - even in perfect harmony - in concert, while playing live. There’s only one song that I know of where each sings individually. Note that this was a bit of a throwaway song - a b side single that was released long before it became a hit. Leppard has so many good songs it was just another. It wasn’t until the movie Last Action Hero came to them wanting a song, that they picked this one, the song was rereleased along with the promotion for the movie and it became a big hit.
Def Leppard are fans of Queen and wanted to emulate them in the aspect of band members singing harmonies and backing vocals behind Freddie Mercury... So, Def Leppard also became famous for their vocal harmonies in their songs as Rick Savage (bass), Rick Allen (drums), Phil Collen (guitar) and (the late) guitarist Steve Clark... and current guitarist Vivian Campbell would sing on the records and in concert behind lead singer Joe Elliott... The music press accused Def Leppard of using pre-recorded vocals in concert for years... Finally, Def Leppard appeared on VH1 to perform live and they demonstrated that the members' vocals were authentic and not pre-recorded backing tracks. Taylor Swift picked Def Leppard to perform w/ on the CMT channel's 'Crossroads' program in 2008... and they did a remarkable collaboration where a young Taylor Swift sang Def Leppard songs and Def Leppard also accompanied her band when she sang her songs. Recently, Joe Elliott revealed that his kids are Taylor Swift fans and they didn't believe him when he told them that he and Def Leppard had performed w/ her until he showed them the 'Crossroads' show on DVD.
This was actually one of their throwaway b side singles. It was released before but then the producers of Last Action Hero came to the band looking for a song for the soundtrack and they picked this. So it was rereleased with the movie and became a huge hit. Basically any one of the hundreds of songs they’ve written are potential hits.

They have some of best harmonies in rock. Yes they're really singing. It's a thing that can hear immediately in Mutt Lange productions. IMO the best Rock Producer of all time.
this song was actually written about their lead guitarist whom passed due to a drug overdose he had terrible stage fright and would use upper and downers accordingly to be able to do shows and eventually it became too much.
@@CJohn1993 Right, but the band throughout the years across numerous interviews always said his main problem was with alcohol; something you’ve omitted entirely in your comment claiming about his issues. I can back this up with at least an hour of testimony from the band across different interviews, yet I’ve heard nothing about the uppers and downers and stage fright. In those same interviews the band said Steve was a very shy person and required alcohol for confidence off stage, but he very was typically very happy to play on stage for the crowd. @@WhizzyMcBride1564 Cut the bs. It seems I was off by a few months. “The song was composed and demoed by lead singer Joe Elliott in 1989 during the writing and recording sessions for the band's fifth album Adrenalize. The track was shelved for three years until it resurfaced following a late-night acoustic jamming session with the Hothouse Flowers in March 1992, which yielded three B-side tracks. When Elliott suggested recording "Two Steps Behind", Collen suggested that it be recorded as an acoustic version. The track was recorded in a few hours in April 1992 and was released as the B-side to "Make Love Like a Man" in the UK.”
little trivia...in the video, the lead singer, Joe Elliott is legit limping throughout the video. He had hurt his back a few days earlier playing soccer.

Joe Elliot lead sang then rest of band did backup vocals. Notive drummer Rick Allen playing with ONE ARM. He lost it in car accident but created a drum kit that is electrical controlled by feet and remaining arm
I’m really impressed that the commenters here did NOT bring up this highly overused drummer bit until this guy. Kudos to the rest of you. We really don’t need to read this in every single comment from the people who think this is one of the most important things about the band - it isn’t.

This song was MASSIVE in the early 90's, it was on the radio like, on a daily basis
This went to #10 on US charts in October of 1993. It’s one their very few acoustic songs.

No. If you’re set on ballads only then Love Bites is the more interesting piece even though Collide is a nice song.
So many great songs from Leppard
