    Great video. My daughter in law has a 2014 Carolla and both the window control and the door lock are not operating. The Toyota dealer said they need to replace the door. My jaw dropped when she told me that. I'm going to fix this for her. Door panels are difficult so this video was worth a lot to me. Thank You!

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  2 года назад +3

      "Replace the door" doesn't make ANY sense.. If the window control is not working then the metal is fine, the glass is fine.. it's very likely the button assembly.. maybe it rained on it? Did you check the fuses? I'd start with the fuses, then if it's just one door, it could be motor and other things.. if it's multiple doors then something on the circuit. There should be a troubleshooting guide(using voltmeter) in the Toyota Repair Manual at techinfo.toyota.com/ it's like $20 for 3 days though, I don't have access to it. It should have a guide how to test the button assembly once disconnected.

      Sorry missed that you said locks are not working alongside the windows, that definitely sounds like a fuse, since the entire circuit is not operating. None of the locks and none of the windows work?

      That's great to hear. In case it keeps happening, some dielectric grease inside the connector should keep it from corroding. Check out: ruclips.net/video/C2ywDdvd06I/видео.html Dielectric grease is not conductive, but it doesn't insulate the connection. I've used it with good results on my battery terminals.

    I've been wanting to take my door panel apart for the longest, it sound like some cables or parts are coming loose behind my passenger front window panel. Sounds like metal on glass when I'm driving or if the door is shut too hard.
    Do you have an idea of what may be causing the sound?

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  8 месяцев назад +1

      No idea sorry.. but once it's off completely, the door can be shut without it to see what's moving.. there won't be a door handle to open it from the inside once the panel is off, so either pull on the end of the cable, or keep the window open to pull the outside door handle.. or have someone outside to open it .

      @CleverFix  3 года назад

      Just follow the video. Yes it's a bit harder than it looks.. you have to pull quite hard on some clips, they don't let go so easily.. once you have the buttons out You'll get the harness out for sure if you press on that clip.. I had a hard time before because I didn't know about that trick with the screwdriver. It won't let go easily if it's not pressed.. worst case you have to put it back without being able to release it? I'm not sure what you're trying to do, but you don't have to remove the wire if you just want to get to the speaker for example.

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  3 года назад +1

      If you take the door panel out you can take it out easily.. if not, put the window all the way down, and look through the seals, you get a bit of space to see.. but not sure how you can grab it.. maybe a coat hanger with something very sticky on the end like double sided tape.. sure, if there's a paper there it may get wet, and cause it to rust faster.

    Why did you take out the window controls, and arm rest? just pull the connector from the window controls and be done.

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  3 года назад

      I can't remove the connector on mine unless I press the release clip down and it's impossible by hand. I won't be able to film it if I didn't remove it to show the release tab.. if you can sneak a tool behind there like a 90 degree point tool and manage to get it to press the tab you can surely skip the arm rest removal part. It's a struggle getting the connector out, so in case you can't get to that release clip and get it out, then taking out the arm rest will surely work and it's not that much more work.

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  3 года назад

      I've never done it, There are 6 bolts on the door side to take it off. The only problem will be getting the harness out of the door, through the hole. The hole is quite small, but hopefully the connectors can come out through it. The big connector in the video will likely go through sideways, I don't think the other connectors should be very big but you'll have to check... there will be the door locks connector and power window one you'll have to disconnect.

    Have you had any issues with your power doors? My power doors on my 2015 don’t always unlock all my doors. I read this is common with this generation Corolla. However, I’m not sure of the root of the problem.

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  3 года назад +1

      No never had any issues. The problem might in the unlock/lock motor or the wiring.. You have to test it out, find the one that doesn't always work, remove the panel, then hook up a voltmeter to it, and do a few lock/unlocks and see if it receives power. Then if it does receive power but fails to actuate you can know the motor is at fault. It might be hard to diagnose if it happens very rarely though.
