👁 About this video : Today I install 1.25'' wheel spacers from Nitro Gear and Axle! Wheel spacers are very controversial between using them and not using them. There are obviously wrong ways to use them, but if you install them correctly they can be perfectly safe. With my setup, I will right around a negative 25/30 considering my 0 offset on the wheel added to the spacer. This is a good comparison to having a wheel that already has a -25/30 offset built into the wheel. With proper torquing and loctite, wheel spacers are safe to use, but you also have to factor in the size of the spacer and the wheel being used. If I had a -44 wheel and added a wheel spacer, that just doesn't make sense, but also a -44 is super aggressive already. (an exaggerated example). I ran some on my 2nd generation Toyota Tacoma for awhile with no issues at all and they were the same size as these ones. I think people give spacers a bad reputation because of all the "horror" stories surrounding them, from tires falling off to wheel bearings going out. Now I'm not going to say that won't happen ever, but for the most part, if you do your research, buy hub centric spacers and stay within a reasonable offset, you should be good to run them for a long time. I would not recommend using them on sportscars however.

I also ran 1.5” KSP spacers with 33” tires and no problem, love it
Nice! I'm running 34's now with these spacers and have no issues or rubbing! Lot of options for the Tacoma!
My 2013 Tacoma still stock to this day. Great video!
Very cool! I can't help myself, I love working on it!
The spacers look great! I think they are perfectly safe as long as you go with a quality brand. If you have a German car or one that uses bolts instead of lugs make sure you get longer ones to match whatever spacer width you get.
Thanks for the tips!
I was thinking about the same, to add these spacers to my taco or not. Awesome vid.
Thanks! 👍I think it'll be a good addition!
Looks nice, I remember when you guys did the video for the spacers on the Genesis!
Haha cool! Thanks for the support since then!
Thanks for info 💯
No problem 👍 I still have them on right now and no issues!
Woooaahh look at the garage! My dream cars bro🤩
Keep working hard and you'll be able to have one some day!!
Nice wheel spacers, I think wheel spacers are good!! Are you still thinking about getting the electric Porsche taycan? Have y’all seen the all new Electric pick up truck nikola? It’s so awesome and amazing!!!
Great vid bros
Thanks! Do you have a hellcat?
@@BrosFOURRSpeed yes sir. 2020 widebody Daytona hellcat
my guy you look so different without a beard 😂 good video btw 👍
Thanks 😅
You guys certainly do a lot of mod videos. Keep them coming. 1 1/4 inches is 31.75 mm
Haha yea, a little off on the math :)
Love your Taco, love your Spura even more
Thanks!! Supra was a fun car but replacing it with the Z!
Nice video man.. very nice truck.. just got a new sub here.. I got a 3rd gen as well, and I just have a question… do you have any lift/level kit on it? Will I have to do any trimming if I have a 3/2 leveling kit?
Very cool!! We appreciate it! And I have an OME lift! The trimming will depend on the size of the tires! With 285’s and stock wheels probably not. When I added the spacers I had to do minor trimming. Before I went up to 34’s, I did the cab mount chop and I had a new alignment to push the tire forward to help! Those videos are in our Tacoma playlist if you need to visuals on that all!
Something needs clarifying - Not all vehicles are hubcentric. Some trucks, like Ford Rangers, are lug-centric. Some people use spacers to install aftermarket wheels that otherwise wouldn't fit due to hub bore, for example. Getting hubcentric spacers would totally defeat the point, because the lip on the spacer is the same diameter as your hub. If the wheel has a smaller bore, it still wouldn't fit; even with the spacer.
Contrary to popular belief, on any vehicle that is lug-centric, the studs do actually bear the load. The lugs are acorn-shaped and the lug holes in the wheel are bowl-shaped so that when the lugs are tightened, they center the wheel. The clamping force of the tightened lugs is what bears the weight.
You can usually tell if your vehicle is hubcentric or lugcentric by looking at the shape of the lugs. If they're not acorn-shaped, your vehicle is hub-centric (the hub is what centers the wheel, not the lugs).
Cool information man! Tacoma seems to be hub centric since the hub has a lip that the wheels sit on. But cool to know there are lug centric vehicles!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed One other thing I discovered after getting my wheels - some wheels use mag type lug nuts, which have a shank diameter the same as the lug holes on the wheel. This also ensures the wheel is centered on the hub, even if it's a hubcentric wheel mounted on a non-hubcentric spacer.
Thats nice For the Tacoma 😃
Oh yeah! Can add some good looks for sure!
hello guys I have seen your videos and they are very good with a lot of experience I have a Mexican Tacoma here in North Carolina 2019 and I would like to know if you can fix it for me to arrive in Mexico differently
What do you mean by “Mexican Tacoma”? Glad you have found our videos helpful!
If you get good quality wheel spacers that are not extremely large you’re good to go. I have 12mm Akata hubcentric wheel spacers on my rear wheels and the car handles slightly better and it gives the car a more flush look. Prob gonna move those up front and get 15mm in the rear soon.
Yea they have been fine for me so far, eventually I will get the right offset on the wheel, but in the meantime they are fine!
Just bought mine. Thanks for the tips. It feels like any body with semi mechanical skills can do this. I did my lift in the garage 😂
❤ where can I get am south Africa I love the way it looks, you know is perfect ❤❤
Where did u got Matt stickers
Looks like nice addition the wheel spacers. Can you tell me more about your fender flairs and where you purchased them? I have an '07 Tacoma i would like to make that addition. Thanks
I bought these off of amazon! I actually just took them off, but they are cut in the rear, not sure if you are interested in them. They were cool, but did scratch up the paint some.
@@BrosFOURRSpeeddid you use 3m tape where the plastic touches the paint? Or are those bolted on the fenders themselves?
@@BrosFOURRSpeed where did it exactly scratch your paint. Thanks
Nice. I also run spidertrax 1.25” hub centric. Looks awesome
Nice man!!
I’m really running out of ideas on what to do to my quicksand tacoma. Have had it 2 years and have always been working on something but I feel like I’m getting towards the end. Mind if I email you a pic of it and you can shoot ideas? Really up to anything besides a lift and mechanical mods.
You can do cosmetics like wrap it, maybe new wheels, lights, exhaust or intake! There's a good amount of accessories you could add!
Thanks to your channel i bought wheels with a -12 offset, so i dont need spacers.
Edit: which way are u modding your taco. I m going with wheels n tires. Then sliders and bedrack for roof tent.
What kinda fender is that?
Glad I could help! What size tires are you running? I did the sliders first! Then lift/tires, then bumpers! I have some more plans for it! And these are from amazon, here's the video I made on those if you missed it... ruclips.net/video/GlR9Yomwfzw/видео.html
@@BrosFOURRSpeed i went with 33s.
Hello I have a question , I have a Tacoma 2018 with 2.5 heavy duty OME suspension and cab chop mount done and 2 arb clear bumpers , can I run 295/70 /17 or I need the spacers too ??? Thanks
I'm sure you could, how wide are those tires and depends on the offset of wheel you want to run.
Did you have any issues rubbing before the spacers? I'm running a similar setup with 17X9, 0 offset, Spc uppers. After my alignment I rub on the lower control arm at full turn. Do you think this will help or just make it rub on the cab mount? Your truck looks way better with the spacers.
I didn't have any issues before the spacers, but how wide are your tires? My 33x12.5's rubbed on the lowers also but usually that was offroading, probably slightly on road in some situations. My current 34's don't rub on them either, but you will need the CMC if you add a spacer, I had already done that so they fit fine!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I'm on Falken Wildpeak AT3W P285/70R17. Thanks!
@@thegumuchim You'll need to trim some if you add the spacers!
Can you please tell me your opinion.. I’m getting 17x9 0ffset backspace 5 wheels on my wrangler.. I currently have factory wheels and 2 inch spacers. Can I keep the spacers with the new wheels ..Sidenote I have 35 inch tires and 2 inch lift
I guess you could, if you haven't had any issues, but if you are getting new wheels, mine as well get the right offset instead. Like -10 to -18 or so would work to be about the same as having the spacer, I'd get a new offset!
I want to do this to correct my alignment
Wheel spacers don't affect the alignment, you'll just need to get another alignment done to fix anything wrong with it. This has no affect on that.
It does causes premature bearing failure. That being said I have them also and have ran them over 60k on my FJCRUISER. I’ve never had them come loose after retorqing every time I’ve pulled the wheels off. I won’t run them if I buy new wheels again
That's the plan for me, just a place holder until I get new wheels with different offset!
Loctite helps prevent loosening and an aggressive offset wheel is going to cause premature bearing wear as well. I don’t see there being much difference between a spacer offsetting where the tire hits vs a wheel that offsets the tire equally
So I have 33s with a 3 inch front level and 2 inch rear level. The back spacers don’t rub but the front do. I’m running 1.5 inch spacers. If I trim I would have to trim the frame and that’s not a good idea. How else can I fit them?
I have the CMC and it's not a bad idea at all! Gives you a lot more clearance! I also got a new alignment with my aftermarket UCA's and pushed the tire almost 1'' forward for more clearance! I'm running a 34x12.5 with a 1.25'' spacer and have ZERO rubbing!! ruclips.net/video/qEU_W3RDQY0/видео.html ruclips.net/video/MJK8c0pBKPs/видео.html
I added a 1.5 inch spacer on my 18 Tacoma and I noticed that the supplied acorn nuts weren’t fully threading on the OEM wheel studs. I had to take out the original wheel studs and put on some ATP wheel studs and cut them to size so that they don’t protrude past the wheel spacer interfering with the backside of the rim once the wheel was mounted. I also bought the and installed lug nuts that thread in a little deeper into the spacer hole for extra security and peace of mind, pair that with longer wheel studs that have a standard best practice 3 threads sticking out past the lug nuts plus the thread locker and I feel safe. People say use the red thread locker as that makes the nut stay on forever but I don’t recommend as if you need to adjust it’s hard to take off (blow torch heat) I ended up using the blue loctite. Hope this helps out some one, but this feels safe to me
Oh wow! That's kind of crazy to hear you had to do all that work, I just put these on and that was it!
Bros FOURR Speed honestly I just had a baby and I know it was kinda overkill but I just didn’t want to risk it, plus I felt confident doing all that work being that I was previously an airplane mechanic. But I think Installing the suspension in general was harder. Btw your old man emu install video inspired me to install the same suspension. Thank you for your videos and advice !
Is that black circular piece on the center of the hub a cover or something?
Yeah, it covers up the bolt to take off the disc brake. I've taken that off before, it's not too bad!
What brand are those spacers? Just curious, i want to put a good brand spacers on my ‘19 Tacoma
These are the G2 brand! I've used them before in the past, make sure you get hub centric spacers though!
What a difference, huh? Looks way cooler than what it was. 👍🏻from 🇨🇦
It makes a good difference for sure!!
I have a third Tacoma
It's a sweet truck!
I have stock lift / stock wheels running 185/70/17 with no rubbing. / 1.25” spider spacers.
I want to upgrade to custom wheels 0 offset / would they fit on stock lift and no running ?
That should work, I'm currently running a 0 offset right now with my 33's.
I put on 275 70 R 17's on my 22 Toyota Tacoma, and I have wheel rub. The wheel is rubbing against the control arm. When I make tight turns? Is there such a thing as a 1/2 Inch hub centric wheel spacer? Thank you
Not sure if anyone else has commented . This is more of a question I might be wrong but 1.25 inches converts to 31.75 mm ..
This would theoretically make your offset -31.75? trying to get an idea as to how my truck would look with spacers current offset is -12 . Have you had any issues with these spacers ?
I haven't had any issues with the spacers, but not sure you need to add them to a -12 offset. They should poke out a good bit with those. I would try to go closer to 1'' with that offset. Also check for any rubbing issues that could come up adding a spacer too.
You’re right I think it would be too much poke . But I also read that I might have to trim my studs if I run the 1 inch spacer because they will stick out beyond the spacer and hit the back face of the wheel .
Do you have a link to your fenders?
It's in the description of this video!! ruclips.net/video/GlR9Yomwfzw/видео.html
I have 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport 3.5 V6 6 Lugs. I'm trying to buy the spacers....do I need 6 × 4.5, 6 × 5.5 or 6 × 135 mm
All 3rd gens have the lug pattern of 6x5.5 (also referred to as 6x139.7) They are both the same thing.
Any tip for when the tire rubs on the cab mount plate?
New alignment is all I could think of if you already have the chop done! ruclips.net/video/MJK8c0pBKPs/видео.html
Haven't chopped anything yet grinded it a little im hoping the lift kit will solve it
So you have to make cuts to the wheel well because you used the wheel spacers or you have to cut more because of it?
I had some rubbing after installing them with the fender liner, but used a heat gun to push them out of the way. I did though do the cab chop which does require cutting. You have to do that mod once you go bigger tires and depending on the offset for more clearance offroad. So I cut because I wanted the extra room.
@@BrosFOURRSpeedwhat lift and what tire specs ? What’s the offset ?
@@jeffroberts2279 I have plenty of videos on all that and the installs! But it’s an OME lift. These were the 33x12.5 tires and a 17x9 0 offset.
So i just put 1.25 on my mit last nite tightened and torqued..and loctite..my only concern is that i still see roughly 3 threads on every lug where the spacer connected to my oem lug studs..cause for concern or am i just being paranoid?again they are tight and torqued..but can see 2to3 threads still..and they look like exact lug bolts u used.
As long as you have them torqued and the loctite you should be good. There shouldn't be much of the oem stud poking out like you mentioned. The nuts need to sit pretty flush so the hub of the wheel can have a flat surface on the spacer!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed i knew i confused the question..the oem.lug stud is flush actually in more then the lug nut..the lug is.flush where there is space left on the lug nuts..like 2 or 3 turns for it to fully be tightened onto the stud..i wish i had a picture to explain..hope that made sense
What tires do you have?34
Nitto Ridge Grapplers.
Im running 2 inch spacers on my truck but feel like it makes the truck swerve when i brake ans makes truck drive like crap, or should i look somewhere else
That could definitely be a reason! I would never recommend a spacer that large! I'd get the right offset on the wheels if you are going that far! I've never had any issues with the 1.25'' spacers I've used on both my Tacomas. Any bigger than that, and the right offset is better.
You said a wire brush? Why not use a hub buddy to get it as clean as possible close to the lug itself. Makes it a lot easier to put the hub buddy on a 12 volt impact and run it around all six lugs and in between.
That could be a way. But pretty easy to do this by hand with a tool I already have. No need to go buy a special tool when a little bit of elbow grease will get the same result
Hey guys what size is that spacer ?
It's 1.25'', you can find them here, a bit smaller at 1.1''.. brosfourrspeed.com/parts-%26-merchandise/ols/products/hr-trak-wheel-spacer---toyota-tacoma/v/H-R-TRK-WHL32-30M
What tired size you running? I’m on 305/70/17
I'm on the same size now 305's! This is the latest video update with those tires! ruclips.net/video/MJK8c0pBKPs/видео.html
What size tire do you have?
These tires were 285/70/17!

lol those are my brothers cars. He loves the imports
Is that stock suspension you are running?
This is the OME 3'' kit! Here's a video showing the height difference! ruclips.net/video/40s6Asn5zcs/видео.html
its a small offset, doesn’t create a change in looks, still look small, better have the 2 inch spacers or more
I wouldn't want to go that large with a spacer, but having the narrower tires didn't help. I have a 34x12.5 tire now and it makes a big difference with how they poke out!
I noticed that your TRD pro didn’t have the fox suspension. Did you change it out. (Edit) My bad I just noticed that your taco is not a pro.
Yeah mines a TRD Offroad, it came with the bilstein suspension stock, but I now have the OME kit with the lift!
The spacers I have on my Camaro are only 4mm, only reason I have them is because the wheels I have were too close to the calipers for my liking, so got a minimal spacer just to keep the wheel off the caliper.
That's not really bad at all! I tried a 4mm once, but it didn't do much for the truck!
What size tire are you running?
They are 285/70/17, just under a 33 and 11.5 wide. I do plan on going up a size at some point though!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Do you know if 285/75/16 would work if I got your lift?
Personally I like no spacers but hey if you like it go nuts!
I'll have them for awhile until it's time for a new set of wheels!
Can I put a spacers without a lift done to it
You can! Just expect trimming or some cutting depending on how big the spacer is and the size of your wheels/tires!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed 1.5inch spacer stock wheel but with bigger tired like 175/70/17
@@ruehem3219 I’d never go that big on the spacer. 1.25” is a good setup, but you’d have a good bit of trimming to do adding a larger tire, you’d need a lift with those. You really can’t go much bigger than stock with no lift and to space them.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed ok thank you
What size tires are those? If I tan stock tire with wheel spacers would it still rub?
These are 285/70/17 which is about a 33x11 or so. A stock tire with a spacer will probably rub if the truck is at the stock height! I have a 3'' lift and these tires would not have fit without the lift.
Dont forget retourqe after 60 miles of the spacers then wheels after another 60 It seams like alot of work but absolutely necessary
For sure! I'll definitely keep an eye on them!
no torque wrench ?
For the spacers? I can't use them right now, so no need to do that until I can put them back on.
Twenty Sixth Comment. Yayyy for me. 🤣😄
Haha cool!
I would not use them because of the trimming.
Depends on how big your tire size is. I never rubbed on my old tacoma with spacers and smaller tires.
Put on correctly, wheel spacers are perfectly ok to run.
Yup! Can't wait to do some chopping and throw these on!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed i bet! I have the same 1.25" spacers from when I ran my stock wheels. My 16x8s 0 offset would definitely need that cmc before I attempt to run those now....soon tho..soon!
If you guys haven’t subscribed or liked... do it now!! It’s to easy to not do!
Thanks for the comment!
yall from charlotte?
Not too far from it. We film a lot in charlotte at those dealers.
Gastonia nc here!
Just swap the rims
I'm looking at new wheels in the future for sure! But this setup works for now!
Running wheel spacers dude is kooky dangerouse thing to do, why would you really want to risk something dangerous to happen adding wheel spacers?
They can be completely safe to run and a lot of people do that. What you have to remember is the offset of the wheels you have with the size spacer along with torquing them and checking them. I've used them before in the past with zero issues. I'll be getting new wheels at some point and not have them, but in the meantime, they are perfectly fine to use. I wouldn't go crazy big on them, so the size I have is fine.
Dude, so there is a thing called offset. It is measured from the center of the wheel centerline. Based on rep. from Toyota dealer, for a 2017 Tacoma TRD OR, the parameters were -12 to 25 mm. So, it can stick out about -12 mm which is about a half of inch, or inward about 25 mm (1 inch). So, knowing the offset of the wheel and the offset of the wheel spacer, one has to do some basic math to figure out the end result in offset.
If your end result is within -12 and 25 mm, as Toyota wants it, you are fine. My Toyota rims have a 25 mm offset--that is an inch inward from the wheel centerline. Quite a lot, and one would think that it would cause premature wearing of the wheel bearing. But, it's ok, per Toyota, it seems. Cheers!
I still don't understand the purpose of these devices.
You use the wheel spacers to make the tire poke out from the fenders. I would recommend having the proper offset on the wheel first, but if you don't this is a great way to do that without having to buy new wheels. I will eventually get new wheels at some point, but if you want that look, you can use these.
