    Lots of vids on Tacoma upgrades. Downside is adding lots of extra weight reducing mpg and slowing it down. Not to mention adding massive tires that's not recommended by Toyota. Then people complain(not you) that Tacoma is under powered. My mostly stock SR v6 is plenty fast. I've taken it over several mountain passes to go skiing and some off roading and never felt it was under powered. Use it for what it was intended and it has plenty of power. Don't get me wrong I did add A/T tires. Tires that are recommended size and some minor aesthetic trim pieces. When adding larger tires it effects power because the rear gearing won't match the tire size.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  4 года назад

      That's all true, but I don't really care about the mpg as much and I haven't noticed it being underpowered with the larger tires so I don't know why people complain about that. I don't use this as a sportscar so I don't notice lack of power! I might be going up another size this year, but looking to regear the truck and see how that helps!

  • @johnredden8728
    @johnredden8728 2 года назад +1

    So I would in the future try and cut the plug back a little bit so just in case you ever need to use that as a repair pigtail. Also might want to upgrade your head shrink or get you a heat gun to try and help seal that heat shrink better. The way it looked that is a good place for water to get in and rust your connection up. As much as I like the bumper I don't think I could ever cut my truck up.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  2 года назад

      I'm not sure what you mean by using it as a repair pigtail, it's been fine and functional since I've installed it! It's been the best mod and great for offroading!

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed the plug you cut off of the tag light plug where you wired up the new lights. Cutting it right at the plug makes it to where it can't be used again. The blind spot wasn't available on 2017's and I didn't get the tech package to have the sensors. Didn't need or want them. They make this bumper to accommodate the backup sensors! It will have cutouts for you to install them into this one! The blind spot is integrated into the tail light I believe or side mirrors so that shouldn't be an issue.

    One thing to consider is the weight you are adding is rear of the axle which is why people only recommend you minimize the weight of objects in your rear. Lol. Also, remember the next mods you will do are adding a dual tire swing out as that will house your tire and possible Jerry cans. As doing a high clearance bumper and keeping the tire underneath is kids pointless. Nice vid and strong work.

    My question... Is they measured 21 inches from the top of the 2x4 or under that 2x4???

      It's from the bottom of the piece of wood!

    You guys do such nice work. You make it seem so easy ,but we don't see all the added work. Haha.
    Honestly, that added weight distribution will be nice. I think you will notice it handles and feels better with the weight in the back, because it won't be so light and feel like it's swinging around, esp on windy days. This was fun to watch. 👍

      Thanks 👍 I think I have noticed it not being as bouncy in the rear which is nice.

    When you open the tailgate, does it brush against the bumper?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 года назад

      It doesn't! I was hesitant first time opening it, but even sitting on the tailgate or having my motorcycle in there, doesn't touch!

    Very nice and very clean. I'm was surprised to see how well the cuts cleaned up with the cutting weel of choice, because that looked like a concrete cutting weel and not a actual cut off weel which would have left a thinner and cleaner cut! But overall all I love the look and the video.
