Samsung Dishwasher LC Code - Permanent Fix

This video demonstrates how I permanently fixed the LC error code by repositioning the leak detection sensor in my SAMSUNG Dishwasher Model: DW80K5050US.
For over two years this dishwasher has repeatedly malfunctioned by displaying the LC code and stopped running. Each time this has happened we have disconnected the power at the circuit breaker waited a few hours and allowed itself to reset and then it would function again.
It has progressively increased in the number of times it has happened until finally the code would not reset even after sitting disconnected for 3 days.
In an attempt to permanently fix the issue I have repositioned the leak detector switch to a new position in the machine.

Thank you for this! We've not had a running dishwasher for over a week because of this same error code. I even called Samsung about this issue as it started happening 2 months after I purchased it. This is the worst dishwasher I've ever owned, and if I would've known back then that this is a common thing, I never would've bought it :/ :(

Sure and glad it was helpful. I agree..it seems like Samsung would've addressed the malfunction by now but since I've made the alteration it's been running fine. Goodluck with yours.

    Hey brother!
    Thank you for the info!
I can’t wait to tear this thing out and fix it.
This happened to us like a year in, and we just started hand washing, as I wasn’t trying to buy a new 1000 dollar dishwasher, twice..
The wife is over the hand wash thing and I went hunting for lc code info. Found your RUclips post and I wanted to thank you brother, so thanks !!!

Thank you sooo much! I was thisclose to tossing it and buying a new dishwasher. That code had been going on for well over a year of and on. Thanks, I’d called the repair guy then cancelled him after I fount this Great video. The only thing I did differently was instead of taping the sensor up inside thee unit, I added 3 washers on each under side of the sensor mounting, basically shimming it higher from the catch pan so.a small amount of water won’t set it off but not so high that it doesn’t detect any significant accumulation that could damage the electronics. So far, so good!

This is a great video. I just got my brand new samsung dishwasher 3 weeks ago and a few day ago I started getting that dreaded LC error code. I was about to follow your suggestion but called samsung first and they sent out a tech the next day. The problem for me was the rubber washer that was inside the water intake tube that's connected to the back of the dishwasher had shredded so the water was leaking because of that. He didn't have a spare washer so I pulled one out of one of my garden hoses and he used that one to replace the shredded one. It's only been one day and I haven't had that error again, yet. Hopefully that fixes the problem. So I would suggest that everyone checks that pesky rubber washer to see if that is the problem.

You are a patient man! Ours gave the LC code last night and my wife almost didn’t let me go to sleep. So, this morning I found your helpful video. I’m gonna jab you a bit, though. The “problem” is the small water leak which results in the code. But, if we didn’t have this dishwasher our “code” would be water on the floor which would be a problem. Interesting that your counters and backsplash are just like mine! Now, if I can clear that code. Thank you!

The sensor is working as it should. The dishwasher is leaking and it's designed to stop it so your kitchen doesn't flood and/or the flooring doesn't get damaged by a slow leak. His fix is the same as taking down the smoke detector when there is smoke coming from a fire. Just ignore the real problem. What could go wrong?

  • @jennieblue5346
    @jennieblue5346 2 года назад

Many thanks for this video. When Mr. Gibson showed how little water was setting the sensors off, I decided to just let the stupid dishwasher dry out. So I left the door open a crack during the day and all the way open overnight, and voilà, the stupid dishwasher fixed itself! It took 24-36 hours, but the stupid dishwasher is now functioning again. We’ll see how long it lasts, but this is the first time it’s happened in well over two years. Stupid dishwasher. (But I will also be more disciplined about monthly cleaning…)

I added 2 small plastic washers under the sensor, it raised it up about 1/16 in.
or about 1.5mm and it works without errors for over 1 year now.

Thanks for the solution to this error, I just bought a new top-of-the-line Samsung dishwasher, got it installed, flip the breaker ready to impress the wife, and all I see is a flashing "LC" code, she wasn't impressed. Argh. Remember when hooking up the supply line I had a leak, guess it leaked into that tray area and kept triggering the error code. I just needed to dry out that tray and put it back together but if I ever get this code again know where to look and how to impress the wife again.
