Samsung Dishwasher Heavy Blinking / Flashing Light Error

- Samsung dishwasher was stuck with the drain running continuously and the "Heavy" light displayed blinking. This is and error code that signals that there is a leak present in the system. This was an easy fix that any DIY can handle. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Samsung repairman checked my sensor today and said he would have to order some parts "if he could get approval". It seems to me he should just order the parts and fix it. He did not lay the dishwasher on its side, but worked on it from the front. I like your way better.
Great video! My husband, who usually takes care of things like broken dishwashers, is deployed. Your easy-to-follow video gave me the confidence to tackle the problem myself. I had the problem fixed in about an hour and didn’t spend a dime. Thanks!
This video saved me $300 Samsung makes the worst dishwashers. I wish I hadn't bought one. It's leaking all the time and the sensor is wet. Flooded my kitchen 5 times in 5 years. Plumbing is new. Worst dishwasher!
Ye as a new home owner who just did renovations and added all Samsung appliances...I'm starting to regret it now
OMG, you are such a blessing!!!! I got the exact same error with mine and no repair people around here will work on a Samsung appliance and I was just about to go buy a new one. I can’t thank you enough.
Excellent video. I was about to buy a new dishwasher but decided first to look for a solution on youtube and came across your video. Problem is fixed thanks to you. A million thank you’s. People like you make the world a better place.
There is some good in the world after all. I want to add my thanks for you sharing this video. I had spent several hours installing a new Samsung with several issues along the way, one of which being a serious water leak. I didn't know it had this feature and was sitting there not believing my new dishwasher didn't work. I didn't see this info anywhere in the microscopic manual. I didn't even know the flashing light was a code. So, you saved me unimaginable misery and time by offering this. Thanks again !
My Samsung dishwasher has the same issue. I follow this video and get if fixed just now !
I appreciate your help my man ! save me a lot of trouble and money too. You are my life saver. Not sure how long this will last ! I hope this will be a last time due to Samsung design flaw according to several comments below. One thing I need to add: after you done, while screwing 2 screws to hold the washer to the countertop plywood, you MUST put the towels to cover the slots at the bottom of washer, to prevent screws from falling to the cracks of the bottom drainage dish. I was so lucky, the screw stuck at the edge of the hole, AND I DONT WANT THIS HAPPENS TO YOU. PLEASE COVER ALL DRAINAGE SLOTS BEFORE PUT SCREWS BACK. GOOD LUCK !
My wife found your Video and between the both of Us discovered the water line needed to be tightened and so far all is well.
Thanks
Marg and Paul
Thank you so very much for doing this video! My husband watched it and fixed our dishwasher. What a relief, we were going to buy a new one, saved us so much money, bless you.
Ours was probably a one-in-a-million issue. A kitchen dish broke and shattered and a tiny piece of glass fell into the door latch, causing the door to not latch. Dishwasher was run, but without the door latched, some water leaked out the door and into the bottom catch pan, causing Heavy error code, with continual draining cycle. Took off front door, removed glass from latch mechanism, then followed your video...works like a charm, now. Great video. Only feedback I would give is clarify the "back" of the dishwasher access panel is really the bottom of the unit. Also, after removing the two screws, a flathead screwdriver helps pop out the press fitting panel.
This was extremely helpful, thank you for taking the time to post. Part of the difficulty of fixing things is not knowing what you may be looking for or challenges you may face (where is that screw?), so having someone patiently record the process makes attacking the challenge so much easier. Once again thank you.
Thank you so much you removed the stress of a broken dishwasher on top of the virus going on. I was able to follow you instructions and fix it.
Last month I had to fix my 2 year old $1400 Samsung slide in range after a $10 part burned up during the self cleaning cycle... this month it’s the dishwasher with this problem. Without you tube I would be throwing some serious hate towards Samsung. Thanks for posting, you kept me from turning into a Samsung hating monster.
Sir, I appreciate you sharing this video. It saved my family a lot of money by not having to call a repairman.
Super easy to follow and TOTALLY saved myself a repair visit. Thank you for empowering some DIY work!
Life-saving* video! Needed this after doing the water wall cleaning procedure**...as enough water must have come out of the 4 hoses to trigger the base pan's leak detector.
MANY THANKS!
*Our dishwasher's life was in jeopardy when my first repair didn't fix it!

Thank you SO MUCH for making this video! I was at my wits end trying to troubleshoot this very same error code-after spending literally hours messing with my dishwasher I found your video - I appreciate how succinct and straightforward it was, it got straight to the point and in my case all I had to do was wipe up some water near the sensor and my samsung was running great in just a matter of minutes THANKS TO YOU-your video saved the day for a single mom in Seattle 🙏🏻❤️
This dishwasher is a piece of rubbish. I do repairs to it at least every two months. Fortunately I have RUclips and people like you to help me to keep it going. Thank you.
dude, any time you in my town, beers on me. I tried everything, taking everything apart, cleaning it out, flushing it out. This did the trick instantly. thank you
Had the same problem with my Samsung dishwasher. Watched your video. Had it back up and running in less than 30 minutes. The wife says you're her hero. That's all I've got to say about that.
This was exactly the same model and issue I was having and you saved me a service call! I'm a middle-aged woman, too, so that should say something - or am I stereotyping?! ;) Thanks for taking the time to do the video and to add what lines to check for leaks. It seems my intake line was leaking at the coupling. I was able to tighten a bit, so I guess time will tell if that was enough.
My husband just fixed our dishwasher following this video! Thanks a bunch!!!
THANK YOU ! The appliance manual gave an incorrect diagnosis, based on the error code, and your video was exactly what I needed
I think my door is jacked up. I found signs of an improper initial install when I pulled the washer out. But this will get us through until I can figure out a proper door fix. Thanks man👍
Thank you so much for your help. I'm a single mom and share a home with my widowed mother and it can get really frustrating trying to maintain a home. This video is amazing!
I had a heavy light with the auto light flashing, and this seemed to indicate that the flow meter case assy on the left side of the dishwasher was gunked up. Removed and flushed the assy but I must have spilled water into the pan when doing this. When i ran the next cycle I got the heavy code, (no auto light this time), ....This video helped me understand that the water I left in the pan may have been the cause an additional problem. Followed your procedure and ran the next cycle without any more codes. Keeping my fingers crossed that this continues to work. Thank you
This video is a god send. My washer wouldn’t shut off and was driving me crazy. This was the exact problem causing the issue.
I had the "Heavy" light flashing last night.... Watching your video today during work.... when I get home hopefully all will work after drying it out and looking for the a leak.....THANKS!!!I got home after work... WORKED LIKE A CHARM !!! Save me a head ach and MONEY!!!! Thanks!
What caused your dishwasher to malfunction?
@@heatmakers9819 I don't really know BUT I feel the garbage disposal my have need to be empted/used.... may have had debris in it and caused the "drain"cycle not to work correctly and back up into the bottom of the dishwasher..... NEVER happened again.... that is just my thoughts of way it happened.

Brilliant! I had to replace my drain hose after mice ate it (little bastidges). I must have spilled some water in that bottom tray while removing the hose. You saved me a service call, thanks so much!
Worked like a charm.... had to skip killing the breaker (Shame on me... old lady was Cooking at the time). wiped down the sensor... cycled the power.. BANG..!!!! Back in business..!!
This is exactly what mine started doing. I will have to do this tonight and check for a leak! Thanks!
Very well done.
After checking out the supply connection which was slightly lose, pipes and drying off the pane and sensor,it was all systems GO!
Thanks for posting this video. Saved us at least $500. The machine is not defective the issue was that my clothes washer which uses the same drain line as the kitchen sink and the dishwasher clogged the line. The water came up the sink and the dishwasher so the dishwasher sensor was just drenched in water.
Great video on step by step instructions, also cleaned the filters while we were in there. This is a good maintenance practice. Thank you!
Great tip. I followed the instructions and also got the problem on my dishwasher resolved. Thanks!
Thank you very much for this video! I have a different model Samsung dishwasher, but the error code, and issue resolution were the same. I found no leaking hoses, but the bottom plate did have an accumulation of water near the sensor. To resolve, I cleaned the plate, and let the unit air dry for 24 hours.
I think that my particular issue stemmed from use of the "Sanitize" feature. We don't typically use this feature, but did so twice in a row, right before the leakage. After resolving, I tested the Sanitize feature once more, and found that it didn't auto-stop after over six hours.
Thank you
HEYA!! I just used this to fix my Moms unit. 100% no cap - directions are 100!! Thank you for saving me hundreds in a service call!!
Great information, I appreciate your video on this. You saved me a ton of money on repair. I kept plugging and unplugging my dishwasher to reset and the same problem with blinking heavy light and drain constantly running kept happening. I found your video and exactly the problem I have. Thanks again for your time on this. Take care.
Thank you so much. I have the exact same beeping/flashing on my Samsung. Using you guidance I was able to find the leak (I found the screws that attach the motor to the bottom of the dishwasher loose and water was finding it’s way out through there). I tightened them up and cleaned the tray and it’s now been 2 weeks and no issues!!! Saved me a bunch of money! Can’t thank you enough!
I fixed it last night. I had the same problem, but this time the water was not coming out because of the drainage. I hate this dishwasher. Thank you.
You saved me money, time and headache. Thank you so much friend.
Thank you very much! my dishwasher has the same problem. i followed and watched your video and it really helped me.
thanks!
Just fixed it, looks like it was slowly leaking from the inside, circle seal. Thank you!!!!
Well, After watching this video I was ready to scrap this DW. I saw a quick fix for this on another channel. Rich’s quick fix recommended elevating the drainage hose. It took me all of 30 seconds to make the repair. I about fell over when the code immediately cleared and the dishwasher continued it’s cycle. Might be worth a try! It made my day!!
But how does this not trip the water leakage sensor?
Your video simplified how to fix my error code step by step. Much appreciated!
270k views lmao Samsung really knows how to make a dishwasher. I'm coming here from a different error code fix, the case brake. I had water leak when I detached the inlet hose and one of the drain hoses prob got onto that sensor. HOPING that's all it is THANK YOU for the video :)
Thank you! Following your instructions fixed our dishwasher.
thanks for the help bud, i was fixing a blinking code for heavy and normal blinking codes, followed the advice of a youtube video there and when i put everything back i got this blinking code, basically the run off water got into the bottom and i had to drain the water and it fixed this problem. thanks again
Could not have done it without your video. Thank you so much!
Thank you for posting this! I was able to fix my washer!
Same as Willie below. We just followed your instructions and worked perfectly. You fixed it! Thank you!

Thanks for sharing this knowledge!
Fixed my first dishwasher!
Thank you so much for the walkthrough and the concise explanations & tips.
You have saved me at least a service call not to mention the pain and time of figuring it out on my own.
You rock! Have a great day and stay safe
I woke up to this very problem. THANK YOU!!! I'm going to work on mine now.
Thanks my man! You're a lifesaver! I'm man enough to admit my boneheaded mistake...maybe it will help someone else. I replaced my disposal and didn't clear the dishwasher drain knockout in the new disposal. One dishwasher cycle later and...well, you know the rest.
I did the exact same thing!
Oof…glad to hear I’m not alone. Thankfully my wife, of course, found the new disposal instructions.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!! I bought my dad a new Samsung dishwasher and it kept doing this, my father didn’t believe me when I said I found the way to fix it via RUclips. I got mad and he decided to try and I proved my father wrong! Love it thanks!!!!
I have this exact issue and we have tried everything! I am trying this tonight! 🤞🏽🙏🏽
Mucho Thanks. . . . you are spot on and now I have my dish washer back..
Thank you very much for taking the time and providing this information. I had the same code. I followed your instructions and fixed the problem on my Samsung dishwasher. 👍
This worked, only took 15 minutes. Thank you!

This fixed our problem. Great video, thank you for sharing.
Yes thank you for this video, you explained it well, made it very easy to troubleshoot and fix the problem. Thank you Sir!!!
just fixed my dishwasher. thank you sir!
Question i have the same blinking light on a newer dishwasher [3 years ] that has never been used and has the water shout off from day one. any thoughts
This video was perfect. Thanks for doing an excellent job to save me hassle and money.
This worked! I didn't have to do dishes by hand tonight!
Great video, I had the same issue. I was able to dry out the sensor area and get the machine working but several days later it happened again and then again. Every time I pulled out the dishwasher there was a small amount of water but I couldn't find a leak anywhere which was driving me crazy. I tried something different by removing the dishwasher from the cabinet, spinning it 180 degrees so I could hook up the water line again and then removed both side panels held on by two screws each on my model. When I pressurized the water line again I used a flashlight to watch for any dripping. Finally I noticed drops coming from the back side of the water inlet valve (the part that your water supply line connects to) between the solenoid and the plastic housing. I was finally able to spot the leak so I purchased a new inlet valve that was not overly difficult to change (thanks you tube) and that was my issue solved. I'm not saying this is a probable cause but worth checking if you are having trouble finding the source of your leak.
Good Luck!
I'm having a very hard time finding my leak as well. Just spent the last 20 minutes laying on the ground with a flashlight, both side panels removed, and switching back and forth to try and find it.
I'm still not sure where it is coming from. Was your inlet valve just cracked or what?
@@johnrancifer2092 Hi John, The water valve was leaking between the soleniod (where the wires connect) and the plastic housing. The water had to be connected and pressurized for me to see it drip. You might also try looking at the drip tray to see if there is any evidence of water marks which may give you a clue. Mine has been trouble free since the new valve.
hi there my name is Willie awesome description i fix it right away keep up the good work thank you
Thank you so much for this video! I’m so grateful I found it and it ended up being a pretty easy fix!
Yes, this fixed my problem too, and it was the second time with this same wet sensor. Last time--about a year ago--I dried it out the same way, but couldn't find a leak. Just removing the little bit of water and drying the sensor fixed the problem until it happened again this week. Apparently it is a very slow leak, which is annoying. Based on how it's been happening to a lot of other people, it's apparently a Samsung design flaw.
I WILL NEVER NEVER BUY ANY SAMSUNG PRODUCT!!
@@johnnyrooks I hate this thing too but I’ll gladly buy Samsung over LG anytime!!!
Yes, this worked for me also. I just don't have the time or interest in continually breathing life back into my 2 1/2 year-old Samsung dishwasher. Onto the curb it goes tomorrow. POS.
YES SAMSUNG IS JUNK!
Frankie Raciti Samsung refrigerators are the biggest pieces of crap made

Fixed my error without issue. Thanks for the guidance 🙏
Thanks man, you saved my a ton of hassle!
Excellent video with detailed instructions!
Thank you for sharing. saved me lots of money.
Great video. Helped with the stress.
Nice job... especially your one-hand connector connecting technique
Great video!! Thank you for making and posting!
Thank you for this helpful video, although I did spend a few seconds looking for a third screw on the access panel. Our dishwasher is now running a cycle with dishes inside and all seems good. I think our “leak” was just built up moisture and/or condensation.
Mine only had two screws. The panel is press fitted in with tabs, so I'm not sure those screws are even needed. Good thing since I lost one of them.
God Bless you Mephisto Shoes Northwest. Blessings to YOU!
Incredibly helpful!
Just saved a bunch of money doing this !!!! Thanks !!!!
Thank you for posting, this solved my problem!
