      It's not awful to have a safety feature that will stop a unit from creating water damage. Untrained people don't know that the cause of this is a dirty air break on the side of the dishwasher, over soaping can also cause the issue. Just run some cleaner through once a month and your problem will not reoccur. Also run your hot water at the sink before you start your dishwasher.

      They are garbage. I have this occur to me at least once a year. While under warranty they had to send out someone to repair it three times for different issues while it was still brand new. And the Samsung help line is terrible. This is the perfect gift to give to your worst enemy.

      @jmcwatchdog526 Good point about the leak detection and the dirty air break. In the plastic "water wall" in the side of my dishwasher there's a dark brown area at the top-right. Is this a dirty air break? Is there any way to clean this besides running a clean cycle? My tub wasn't draining, but I've checked all other issues.

    My Samsung D/W would do this about twice a year. I've added three #8 brass washers between each mounting stud and the sensor. This raises the sensor just enough that it still functions properly but with a higher water level, so less prone to trip. Be aware that one path of water into the pan happens from the door ducting. Avoid the temptation to add a dish once the machine has started. Adding a dish can run water into the pan and trip the LC
    sensor.

    We've had a model DW80K5050US for over 3 years, and it worked fine until this morning. What's shown in this video made the LC code disappear, so thanks for that! The hardest part was tipping over dishwasher. One screw and 5 minutes later I turned on the breaker [while the dishwasher was still tipped over], and all was good. No signs of any leaks, but there certainly was a small amount of water in the pan. Thanks for showing how to do this very easy fix!

    unbelievable how simple and effective this video is. I had this on a model 5 years ago and the vendor just swapped it out for a new one. The original probably just went into land-fill. It happened on the replacement this morning and I followed your instructions and the fault was cleared. Assuming that there isn't a structural issue with the plumbing, this tray along with the condensation created in the drying process seems to be a poor combination. Anyway, thank you so much for posting this.

    You are a HERO! Thank you so much for posting this video and saving us time and money on this dishwasher. We also went the extra step of placing washers under the screws where the sensors are housed to add length. That way if just a little water is dripping from time to time it won't set off the sensor, but if there is an actual leak it will let us know.

    Great video. Thank you! We spilled coffee on the counter which dripped into the DW tripping this sensor. After following your instructions I also had to remove the sensor wires from their respective wire harnesses, clean out and dry each wire harness and reassemble. You need a thin pick to depress the internal tabs that release the wires from the harness.
    Thank you again! Saved me a service call!

    Thanks for this video. Bought a Samsung dishwasher five months ago and this has happened twice. First time I called Samsung and the guy they sent out claimed it was my plumbing. Nope, it was not, plumber found nothing. Second time happened tonight. Found this video, fixed the problem myself. I additionally used washers under the sensor’s screws to raise the sensor a bit. All working fine now! You are a hero👍🏽.

    This error came up for me last night for the first time, and this video really helped..our machine is now 6 years old. Along with this quick fix and trying to source the leak, I noticed while making sure that everything was snug, the 4 main screws that held the motor in place were very loose, to the point you could actually move the motor. So while your down there, make sure you check yours out as well as with vibration they are sure to come loose! This may have been where some of the water trickled down from in at the bottom of the machine. Thanks again for taking the time to post this vid

    It's good to know this workaround (thank you for posting it "HTFIW") but there should NEVER be water leaking from the tub to the catch basin. The only reason the catch basin is there is to account for a worn-out leaking hose or seal UNDER the tub. Worn out, like after 10 years of normal operation. We are now on our second brand-new Samsung "39DB" dishwasher. Neither has been able to run a single load yet because they LEAK! The only reason we bought Samsung is the Bosch dishwashers are still on freighters in Long Beach Harbor. The new Samsung dishwashers are simply junk. You all have fixed the LC error code - great! I'll try this too if I decide not to wait for the 2nd repair tech to try to fix it -- but have you found and fixed the leaks? Has any repair tech found your leaks? Samsung support says "air it out for 24 to 48 hours then call us back". Seriously? A brand new dishwasher can't run a cycle and I'm supposed to air it out for 2 days? The fact that these previous posts are years old is a clear indication that Samsung is only interested in their phones, tablets and watches. Next time, instead of just reading product reviews, I'll search YT for "how to fix [brandname] dishwasher".

    This is a great video. I had already figured out that the problem was water getting in the dishwasher cabinet and setting off a moisture detector. What the video taught me was the easy way to get access to the leak detector and completely dry the area out. I think I can add one or two useful comments that I haven't seen mentioned in the previous comments that Ive read:
    The leak detector has four metal pins that are in contact with the bottom of the plastic dish that it sits in. If that plastic dish is even slightly wet, it will set off the leak detector. There is no way to dry out the bottom of that dish with towels without removing the leak detector (as shown in this video), OR you can dry everything around the detector and then wait a day or blow air on the area with a fan or a hair dryer, etc. to finish the drying process. This is why some people have had success with fans and hair dryers. They are able to get that last little bit of wetness out from underneath the leak detector.
    In my case, the kitchen faucet leaked and the water ran across the counter and down onto the dishwasher. This is how the water got into the dishwasher cabinet and set off the leak detector. This could also be the way that other people are having this problem. If you spill any water on the counter near the dishwasher, there is a high likelihood that it will run over the edge of the counter and get into the dishwasher cabinet.

    • @philbarnes3253
      @philbarnes3253 4 года назад +1

      Just looked at the video again. He doesn't actually show how to lift that leak detector to dry out the last little bit of moisture that is under that detector. All you need to do is remove those two screws that hold the detector to the plastic pan. You may find that the pan is still wet. If you put the dishwasher back together again with that plastic pan still being wet under the detector then the machine will still not work until it has sat around long enough for that last bit of wetness to evaporate.

    I just had this problem, but it was caused from a spill. My Hubby spilled a whole cup of coffee and it somehow drained down the side of the dishwasher door and into the pan with the sensor. Thanks for the video! A simple fix is to remove the sensor from the tray with the one Phillips screw. Once removed you'll notice four metal pins that trip the sensor with the slightest amount of water in the tray. Use a nail clipper to trim a mm off of these pins. This way you'll still have a working sensor in the event of a real flood but one that doesn't trip with two drops of water in the tray!
    This issue has hit my beautiful smart dishwasher several times. Usually waiting a day or two for the water to dry will resolve it but this slight alteration should prevent you from having to do that ever fn again

      I came here to say thing thinking I was Mr. Smarty Pants. Seems you beat me to it. haha. One step further is I cut them all off then wrapped them all with electrical tape. I told my wife if we get a flood deep enough to hit the electronics and create a short, then open (circuit burn) WITHOUT tripping the circuit breaker with 110 being an inch off the ground up front.... well its curtains for this POS over engineered dishwasher anyway. Our Dishwasher is on the main floor and we have a basement. The water drains straight down to the sewer drain below when there's an issue. I know because this house was built in 56 and the brass T fitting under the sink degraded and was draining the dishwasher into the basement lol.

    Thanks a lot for this! This terrific video showed me how to get access to the sensor, where some bits of what looked like scale or grit of some sort where keeping the floater up and the leakage sensor pressed. There was some water there but I don't think that was the issue. Once the floater was clean, and all assembled back is now working fine, no more LE error (slightly different model). Thanks!

    I had to unscrew sensor to completely dry UNDER sensor before code would clear!
    With code cleared dishwasher washed but STILL did not drain. No error code though. Discovered BUBBLER DRAIN HOSE OUTLET ON TOP OF SINK WAS CLOGGED! Never cleaned this before so don’t know whether this was gradual build up or failure of Samsung Dishwasher to strain particles adequately. Very easy to unscrew and check without scrambling under sink. I did disconnect drain hose from below bubbler unit to allow hose to empty just in case but, it may not have been necessary.
    Works perfectly now! Phew
    Thanks for this video! Very helpful..

    Thank you for you very thorough video. I followed all your steps and added one. As I was going through things and checking for moisture, the plug and the wires attaching the sensor felt moist. Maybe the moisture is shorting the sensor at the plug. I wrapped it with electric tape so moisture will not (theoretically) enter. Will circle back to check this in a month or so.

    If you don't want to pull out dishwasher you don't have to all you do is remove the kick plate and tape up the rubber skirt so air can pass and place a fan blowing air underneath the dishwasher and shut off the breaker going to the dishwasher
    . keep reading below.
    Lar Jam
    1 second ago
    So my 2 hours of fan and breaker off didn't work BUT!!!! breaker off and fan OVERNIGHT did work! I was skeptical of fan after seeing the sensor buried under a plastic shield how a fan air would get to it. On the other side some circuit boards don't reset error codes unless power is off for a certain amount of time. I am not sure which of the two fixed it but I will try 1 at a time if error returns and report back

    Awesome video! Thanks so much for the post.
    Before flipping the machine on its side my wife suggested we try using her hair dryer (NOT my heat gun), so we removed the right side panel (moisture sensor is right rear) and applied hair dryer on high, five minutes, and could see the moisture evaporate. The front of the tray has a detent with more obvious water, so we did that first, then did the area around the sensor.
    Like I said, five minutes and problem solved. Thanks for getting us on the right track.

    Thanks for making this vid. I can't believe some genius at Samsung thought this was a good idea. I was able to do what the others did and tape the sensor higher up in the dryer. Problem solved.

    This video helped me out about a month ago. Thank you so much. Like you, I could not detect a leak. Frustrating! But I think I figured it out. At least I think I resolved my issue. I was adding rinse aid too frequently. This was causing suds which would then cause slight leakage each time I ran the dish washer and eventually cause the sensor to detect moisture. I’ve read my manual after two years. Ha. I only need to add rinse aid about once a month 😯. I haven’t had the code since I figured this out. Thanks again!

    In our case the problem / leak seems to be connected to not having the upper (cup) rack slid in fully. It has to seat in the rear on the post with the rubber gasket. This was first discovered when we noticed scratches on the upper inside (center) of the front door. It has occurred if a spatula or other utensil is sticking out the back/rear of the rack. Probably putting pressure on the door seal, not sure, but as long as we slide the upper rack in fully (and not allow the door to do push it in) the problen has not repeated.

    Thank you for the video. Since Samsung refuses to repair or to recall their device defects. All of us poor Americans that pay our hard earned money for their products need to start filing Consumer Protection Complaints with our State Attorney General Offices, Federal Consumer Protection Complaints with our Federal Attorney General Offices, as well as the Consumer Protection Agency also! I am tired of faulty products, the last one was our previous dishwasher that this one replaced was a Frigidaire. At 13 months old the heating element in the bottom burned a hole through the plastic tub and caused a leak.
    Used this last night to fix our same issue. Our model number is DW80R5061UG/AA 00, found maybe two tablespoons of water in the bottom of the tray. Checked all of the hose fittings and didn’t find any traces of water. If this happens again, I will wrap masking tape around each of the fittings, discovered using this method when trying to find leaks in our church with a steel roof and steel girders, water can run a long way, so it is a process of elimination. The masking tape material will show the water stains, might be easier to track down. I am trying to not purchase another faulty dishwasher.

    Good video. Had a small leak from the front door and now getting this error(thankful it happened saved our floors), I followed the steps in the video found some water in the bowl, dried everything, still getting this code and every thing is bone dry drain pump is working well, checked drain hose and water hose.. We are going to let it sit for a few days and if it persists we are going to replace the clamps underneath the unit with ones you can tighten up. Will update
    Update: let sit for a day or two, works just fine now might have missed some water on the sensor. Thanks

    This has happened to our 1 month old DW60M6055F, the bottom is clearly different to yours as far as the only screws are holding on a small panel covering the circuit board, the bottom appears to be held on by clips that don't come undone. BUT
    By turning it over about a cup of water came out and that fixed the problem. Thank you :)

    I think I figured out where the leak is coming from. The problem lies in the fitting in the entrance of the dishwasher. If the screws holding the dishwasher to the cabinet are too tight it flexes/bows the tub outward which compromises the seal during drying, this allows steam to condense and run down into the pan which sets off the sensors. Adjust the screws so that the tub doesn’t bow out at the entrance.

    • @rearviewviewer
      @rearviewviewer 3 года назад

      @@jaredstone9487 I had the same issue, fixed it and realized that the improper installation was leading to condensation finding its way to sensors it shouldn’t have reached. Loosened up the screws allowing the steam to breathe and the problem was solved.

      @@rearviewviewer this resolved my issue as well.
      Note to self: you really only need to tip the washer on its side to remove the water from the pan it is in. Easy money.
      Thanks dude.💯💯💯🍻

    Thank you! We only have this issue when outside temps drop significantly during the winter. We've had technicians come out and they say there is no actual leak, it is condensation caused by the hot water and cold air. I'm wondering if this is happening due to the dishwasher sitting directly on the concrete slab. When we had the floors replaced didn't even think about underneath the dishwasher.

    • @howtofixitworkshop
      @howtofixitworkshop  6 лет назад

      I believe it will, but I can not confirm. Probably best to solve the leak instead of removing the sensor. If the leak persists you could have bigger problems soon.

    Great video and saved me some time and money. Mine seems to do it now after each wash, so I have a more persistent leak. Any tricks to figure out where the leak is? I was thinking putting the washer on blocks and leave the bottom plate off and run and see where it leaks. I am aware of the danger....
