  • My Samsung dishwasher started leaking. Service calls can cost more than the dishwasher costs. In this video I will try to find the leak and hopefully fix it.

Another video showed the screws that hold the pump to the bottom of the tub were loose; take out the bottom rack, the filter and the cover plate, then tighten the screws; this can be done without pulling the dishwasher out; the sensor will have to be dried out before the code will clear though, and that requires pulling the unit out and turning it on it's side; so for you product engineers out there you can use this as a guide: instead of making something that doesn't leak, just add a leak sensor that shuts the product down! I've never seen a dishwasher that needed a catch pan & leak sensor, the designers must have known that it was going to leak and this was their solution, Amazing!!!

On first inspection of my Samsung DW80N39030US I found moisture around the drain hose attachment. The impeller motor seal looked good, so I replaced the existing hose clamp with a new one and snugged it down. This got me through 2 cycles, but the 3rd cycle was interrupted by the LC code again. This video gave me the patience to take mine back apart and dig a little deeper. Thanks!

Glad this video gave you the patience and confidence to pull yours apart to see if you can repair it and save. Good luck and thanks for the comment.

This video was the most comprehensive I have found. I was only able to eliminate the LC code on my Samsung by disconnecting the leak sensor. My next dishwasher will be a Bosch.

Haha, me too. I'll never buy a Samsung appliance again. My Samsung microwave blew up and my refrigerator is the most expensive pile of dung I've ever owned.

Thank you for this video. Once I took the dishwasher out and tipped it over about a half a cup of water spilled out of it. I just put it back and tried it again and it seems like it’s fine. I would advise anyone to try the machine again after tipping it over, but before removing any pieces.

I ran into the LC code last night on my dishwasher. I pulled it out and took off the bottom plate, water was present which I cleaned up. But I could not determine the leak point. All the hoses look dry, nothing obvious, no water marks. I did reseat the water line and drain hose at the unit. Put it all back together and ran a cycle. No issues. Your video has given me some other areas to check. Thank you! I expect the code will come back after more cycles/days go by. We shall see.

I never did find the exact leak in mine but the LC code has not shown up again in over a year now. Good luck and thanks for the comment.

@@riderescue Update: Been over a week of daily use, the issue has not returned. Very odd, but glad I don’t need to make a major repair or purchase yet.

@@drdiabeetus3061 Pretty strange. Mine has not had the error again either.

Well the error came back, pulled the unit and confirmed water again. Not a lot, just enough to trip the sensor. I finally discovered the leak point. The ribbed drain hose that attaches to the sump motor assembly had pinhole cracks in it. These cracks could not be detected without pulling the hose and stretching it/bending it to open up the ribs. I discovered the issue when I flexed the hose and saw fresh water seeping out of the ribs closest to the contact area with the floor pan. The hose was routed/clocked in such a way that it was rubbing against the plastic floor pan near the water wall assembly. I got a new hose on order. For now I have patched the hose with some quick dry flexible glue (water resistant). Test cycle running, so far so good.

I also had the same problem!
I took the dishwasher apart, just like you did, and found the leak in the sensor; the o-ring was ruined and there was water leakage ....
My dishwasher's warranty had expired 4 months ago!🥵

I’m a certified Samsung tech it was most likely your main wash pump. The bearings probably went and rubbed a hole in the plastic. YOU WONT SEE IT ON THE OUTSIDE. Replace your main wash motor.

Mine all the sudden started sounding loud, is that one of the symptoms of the bearings going out? It finally put out the LC code.

Any service tech that tells you to replace a $700 dishwasher without even looking at it is not a good service tech. Trust me there are plenty of us out there that in the event you did call we would take care of you.

I'm happy to hear that you sound like a trustworthy tech. I have not had very good experiences with service. My furnace had a simple fix but they tried to sell me a new $4000 unit. It ended up costing me $25 to fix it.
