  • Cleaning your dishwasher filter will be different for each model, but this style is prevalent in many Samsung models. The white residue can be caused by a few things, including lower quality dishwasher detergent as well as calcium, magnesium, and lime build up.
I used vinegar to wipe it down, but next time think I will try some CLR or other calcium removers to see if it helps. Much of it came off the filter a scrubbing, but plenty of it didn't. Since I got the majority of the clumps and our dishes haven't really been affected, I left it alone.

Thanks for actually showing how all the pieces come apart and go together. Also love the tip to run a vinegar wash from time to time.

THANK YOU sooo much! The manual that came with our model had nothing about how to clean our model & you really saved us!
Had we known we’d have to go through all this every 6 months, we’d probably bought a different dishwasher, although we love Samsung appliances & it’s a great dishwasher. But really? What a pain in the arse! 😅

Ah I know! I’m not really a huge fan of it. The wash arm on ours broke and it’s like 20% of the cost to buy a new one just to replace it 🙄 so glad it helped!

Hi @TheDIYrealtor your video was great and I followed the instructions and cleaned my filter nicely. I could see what was clogging it. I was so careful doing it and putting it back together, but when running my next normal cycle I got an “LC” error message. The manual says this represents a “Leakage Check” - a water supply valve connection leak. I am pretty sure this must have been caused by me not putting back certain components exactly right, would you agree? I didn’t touch anything else and the dishwasher worked fine before. I shut off the power, and I was going to try to put the components back together in a way that would solve this issue.
Do you have a recommendation of on what to look for specifically (ie the likely misplaced culprit) to fix this? 🙏🏻 I would be soooo grateful if you can help!!!!

I cleaned mine and now it doesn’t seem to be spraying properly. Anything you’d suggest I try or what I may have done wrong? I ran a load of dishes and they’re still dirty. I found your video and had done it the same as you.

    • @TheDIYrealtor

Hmm. There are three areas where the water supply sprays from wash arms. The very top of the dishwasher, the bottom of the top rack shooting water up, and underneath the bottom rack. If the main water connection into the filter (from the bottom and back of dishwasher) did not get put back correctly then water may not be getting to the wash arms. There is also a water connection from the top rack when you slide it back into place. It’s possible that isn’t lining up either. Just brainstorming..!
