  • This is a short version of the complete construction of a simple affordable home, watch the full video here: • Neighbors Laughed at O...
We built this house for elderly parents. By design, the house is simple and consists of light blocks (aerated concrete).
The total area of the house is 640 square feet and the exterior dimensions are 18 by 22 feet.
We built this house without loans and on a small budget of $17,000. This cost also included the purchase of a piece of land for $2,000. The total budget did not include the cost of workers, since we did all the work ourselves.
We are a happy couple Hena and Vita
We like to create with our own hands, in this we find ourselves. We love making videos and try to make them useful. Therefore, we will develop ourselves and will continue to develop this channel.
We have many more DIY projects that we will definitely surprise you with. If you support family values and love to create with your own hands, welcome to our family "CREATIVE COUPLE"

You have kids putting their hands on the wall at the stairs & they will get dirty in no time. The lines on the brick wall outside are showing. Nice build but too small.

I’m my opinion everyone should be taught this in school.. it should be a standard class for everyone. My pop built our house from the shell of a burnt mobile home and taught me how to run wires and use a breaker box, pour cement, etc so now it’s all common sense to me. I am truly grateful for the skills that I have. It makes it super easy to find a job that I find really easy since I’ve been doing that my whole life

Well , having been involved with building many homes and then finally building my own home, i can say that you dont need to be a master at any of the skills that you mentioned to build a home, you just have to be competent with a few of them, for instance, the metal roof is as easy a job as anything is. and i'm not sure of the building method he is using im assuming its a form of styrocrete, but kind of like legos. i've built homes using SIPS and hollow styroblock that is later filled with steel and then poured and kind of the same methods. and i'm sure he had his learning curve with a few things. The admirable part of the whole thing to me is that he is showing the initiative to actually take part in the quality of his and his families future. from the radiant floor heat, to the high quality filtration for his water he is showing that he is conservative with resources and careful about his an their health, i wish him and his family many good years knowing his family /parents/whomever lives in the home the home that he can tell his kids, "daddy and mommy built this house" oh. and the key to his success may just be the partner who has been willing to learn the same skills as he has. That is a a rarity in todays world.

I'd bet the farm there was lots of RUclips watching before each new task. And then, during each task. I'm not denigrating their work at all. I just feel sure they didn't have these skills from the start. But it is how we learn. My only disappointment was the lack of an exterior finish.

Back in 1978 when I was only in 4th grade. My father, who was an aerospace engineer, fulfilled a life dream of his by moving us to a much less populated area in California, where he purchased a mobile home and a 1.1 acre lot and we lived in the mobile home while he built a house that he designed BY HIMSELF. He did later hire one guy to help him with framing, hanging drywall, and installing the roof tile along with some other misc stuff, and he hired a local cabinet maker to make the cabinets but other than that, he did everything else by himself. We thought he was nuts ... but now I definitely see the appeal in building your own home ... and the fact that you two work so well together is just icing on the cake. Nice video and nice home!

Network Engineering and Java development have been my career staples professionally since the 90s. Looks like I forgot to mention that the house my father built was a 2400 square foot house. Fairly large house for one man to build but he loved the process. He completed the house around 1981 I think. He passed away from colon cancer in 1993 unfortunately.

Man, so many things were wrong with this build and wouldn't meet building regulations in many countries. It's the typical job of making it look nice, but there are serrious issues.
Like, the insulation for a start. No wall or floor insulation which will make it terrible to heat. There's some insulation in the loft, but it didn't even look correctly installed. No insulation in the walls means it's just solid brick making things like damp a problem if the house isn't constantly being heated. No floor insulation which is essential for things like underfloor heating, otherwise most of the heat will just go into the wrong direction and heat the ground.
No lintels above doors or windows, meaning that over time the overhead load would crack and break the window and door frames etc. Also isn't strong enough to survive things like earthquakes, building fires or structural damage.
Ceiling joists were left exposed to the elements at the ends as they poked through the building structure, this creates a point of weakness and will rot over time.
Underfloor heating was copper piping instead of a polymer, meaning over time as it expands and contracts it can crack the concrete or split the piping.
This is the type of place someone knocks up, looks nice but will have nothing but issues for its entire existence.

Since you built this for elderly parents, I'd like to make a suggestion for others wanting to do the same. When people are young, they never think about the hazards in their home until they either get older or face a life changing illness. When building stairs, make sure the riser is below 7" & not only have a sturdy handrail in place, but that a person can't lose balance/slip & fall beneath the handrail. I never thought about this until back surgery complications left me with permanent weakness in 1 leg & chronic neuropathy. There are more safety issues I see in the video, but will stop at that.

Are you that one guy who reports their neighbour for them not trimming their lawn?
      Don’t be that guy.
Usually an unfinished or unkept house is a sign of low income rather than laziness or a want to create an “eye sore”. Those who go out of their way to make more needless problems for their neighbours and or demand they halt a construction project, or change something, or do something to their “lawn” or anything petty for that matter, are usually seen as the neighbourhood assholes lol.
If you think the neighbours care about “looking” at the building, that says more about your pettiness as opposed to their laziness, besides, it’s a matter of opinion what “looks” nice. Now if shit needs to meet the standards of “up to code” for “safety” that’s a different story.

Okay, building a mansion with some carpentry workers is impressive. Doing all the electric and water on your own is impressive. I struggle with a small repair like reinstalling gutters on a garage. Sometimes I wonder just why living costs are higher in big houses. Local council rates are higher if the land area is larger. Electricity should be the same. Water usage should be the same. Water usage for the grounds and gardens will be higher unless one has a working bore or stream to draw from. Things like a swimming pool take money. Paving (asphalt) repairs for roads and tennis courts are an expense. Roofing repairs will be higher. Heating and cooling by central air conditioning will cost more unless there is a separate split inverter system for each room. What did I miss Misterrorshach?

Everyone WAS taught this stuff in generations past. Our school systems are intentionally dumbing people down to make them helpless and reliant on the government. I'll never allow my children to grow up like that though. That's why we homeschool, garden, build, and learn all manner of crafts and talents. I want my children to grow up able to be entirely self-sufficient critical thinkers, not easily fooled and nobody's slave.

If you can build your own house, I believe you can achieve anything in life. Housing is probably the most basic need we humans have after food. To have the skill to do everything from masonry to carpentry to plumbing to electrical, that's just incredible. Not many professionals out there who can claim to have such a wide range of skills. Incredible and hats off to the hard work.

it requires a lot of project management and self-educating skills mostly.
you have to break huge project into essentially very small bits of small tasks and research each one of them seperatelly.
then you start from something and just do it..
takes time and effort but in the end its worth it,
unless you have money to buy a house just ready to use..
