Great reaction....Abba their voices those women are just like God just made them to sing together! Their Swedish culture comes through in their music. So good!

For me, one of the very best pop songs ever written. Beatles-esque! And Benny and Bjorn were writing in English as a Second Language, which only adds to my astonishment. The opening hook (yes, sung a cappella!) demonstrates how they managed to find an English phrase that just happened to be perfectly musical. It's a minor miracle. Anyone who speaks English as a first language would be hard-pressed to come up with something so amazing.
My friends and I listened to a lot of ABBA, but we also sang a lot of ABBA. At the playground, in the pool, wherever. I love these pre-MTV music videos. This was the first ABBA song I ever loved. I was 14 when it came out and I bought the vinyl 45 single. I still have it.
There has been a huge rebirth of Abba songs over the past decade. On Broadway and in Vegas, Mamma Mia ignited a new (recently, amongst those born long after ABBA retired) appreciation of just how great their music is. Like several other iconic groups, have done (Fleetwoood Mac, The Beatles, The Eagles, and more), ABBA wrote and performed their best music just before breaking up. "The Winner Takes It All", in my mind (even though it was not their all-time best seller), was definitely their best song, performed with the most conviction. The heartache of breaking up is clearly felt with every word Agnetha sings in her inimitable voice and style.
Lovely! There are some that are less pop and more serious, like "Eagle", "I'm a Marionette" and "Knowing Me, Knowing You." I was obsessed with ABBA when I was in my early teens. ❣
This is one of my favorite ABBA songs. The group Erasure does a tribute album called ABBAesque. On that album they do this song AND video. Two guys playing all four parts in the video. They did a great job of the song and video as well! Check it out and compare. You will not be disappointed!
Me and some mates got bulled at school late '70s from some rockers for our loving them so we had to shut our young mouths in despair and not talk about it.But later decades got so proud and touched while seeing metalheads and some punks expressing their approval.Thank you all guys.
ABBA. Simply THE best band ever. Been a huge fan for 49 years. They're not a guilty pleasure for me, just a huge, gigantic part of my life. And I saw them live. Twice!
ABBA were a great band. Absolutely masterfully written pop songs in their second language. Most groups in the 70s were secretly jealous at how good they were.
My favorite and absolutely gorgeous best song from this group. The intro is a fantastic reminder of what true classic singing was. What a wonderful 🤯💎. The keyboard player is terrific as well
I love ABBA! You guys are delving real deep into my childhood. Apparently I could dance before I could walk. I would pull myself up to the coffee table and shake what God gave me. I was raised in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s. Those were the best items for music.
So glad you've discovered the magic of ABBA. Please add some of Frida solos to your list; specifically FERNANDO; WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE; and SUPER TROUPER. Frida will blow your mind!
Undoubtedly one of the greatest pop groups of all time and although their music might seem rather light and bubble gum oriented on the surface when you look a little deeper there's so much more to their music. I took a tremendous amount of heat from my contemporaries for liking this group 40 or 50 years ago but ABBA's music has certainly stood the test of time and they still get lots of airplay on the memory sticks I rock out to in the car. The production values alone make their songs worth listening to and the instrumentation and vocals are exemplary. Cheers from Ontario, Canada!
My late Sister was probably the biggest fan this band ever had. She saw them on The Two Ronnies (Waterloo, they had just won the Eurovision Song Contest) and she loved them. Then they started their skyrocket rise. They discovered Australia and took over our televisions for years. Every talkshow, The ABBA Movie (an Aussie journalist misses his every date for an exclusive interview, until he finally gets it at the end culminating in "Come to My Loveland"). Suffice to say, the funeral had more than a little ABBA played.
The ladies in ABBA were fantastic vocalists especially as they sang in a language other than Swedish! The gentlemen were amazing songwriters of good, catchy, timeless pop songs!
So nice to see you again reaction to more ABBA songs in your ABBA Journey "Take a chance on me" (1978) is one of their best ABBA hits in all the world, the most selling song of ABBA in U.S. (more than Dancing Queen), #3 in Billboard U.S. one of their four Top10 in US : #6 Waterloo (1974) #1 Dancing Queen (1977) #3 Take a chance on me (1978) #8 The winner takes it all (1981) This is one of few song than the vocals are more extensive than the music (They begin 'a capela' and singing at the end) the blonde singer Agnetha is the lead vocal in the solo verses, her voice is so powerful, in perfect armonies and chorus with the brunette Anni Frid in co-leads vocal (and the boys in back voices singing repetitive the frase 'take a chance, chance') Agnetha & Anni Frid have fantastic voices and harmonies together Agnetha is soprano Anni Frid is mezzo soprano and together made a 'third voice' the guitarist Björn got the idea while jogging, by the sound of the footsteps he interpreted t-k-t t-kt and adapted it to "take a chance, chance, take a chance", so the song was born Although it is a disco europop, it's like a constant and happy march, captivating, cloying, addictive if I could give You a suggestion for next reaction, take a review of all "ABBA The Álbum" (release at the same time with "ABBA The Movie" in 1977), is a Masterpiece of versatility in each song, but specialy the hymn "Thank you for the music" I wish you a greatest week My best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷 South América

Fun Trivia. Agnetha and Anna Frid were originally going to be back up vocals and Benny and Bjorn were going to be lead vocals. After hearing the ladies sing the guys said let's have them sing lead vocals instead. The second greatest writing foursome in recorded history. The Beatles then Abba. They just understood the art of pop music. Ear worm platinum just about every song. Waterloo come one. I dare you not to sing that for at least three days after hearing it. Then 50 yrs later to come out with that come back Album was simply incredible. Incredible songs, incrdible vocal arrangements and performances still.

ABBA THE GREATEST BAND EVER NO ONE COMES CLOSE MY FAVORITE OF ALL TIME
I love these pre-MTV music videos.
“Eagle” is such a great song in an entire CATALOG of great songs!
I love eagle 🦅
The live version of Eagle is amazing.
@@MattKrogmeier EAgle is MAJESTIC,adventurous!
I love Knowing Me, Knowing You! great song
One of the most upbeat, uplifting, happiest songs ever! That acapella harmony always blows me away!
This is one of my favorite ABBA songs. The group Erasure does a tribute album called ABBAesque. On that album they do this song AND video. Two guys playing all four parts in the video. They did a great job of the song and video as well! Check it out and compare. You will not be disappointed!
Yeah, the first time I heard it, it was the Erasure version on MTV!
Me and some mates got bulled at school late '70s from some rockers for our loving them so we had to shut our young mouths in despair and not talk about it.But later decades got so proud and touched while seeing metalheads and some punks expressing their approval.Thank you all guys.
An EP
ABBA. Simply THE best band ever. Been a huge fan for 49 years. They're not a guilty pleasure for me, just a huge, gigantic part of my life. And I saw them live. Twice!
LOVE their harmonies!!! One of the best in music ever!! The Winner Takes It All is a banger too. Their rabbit hole is amazing!!
One of the best things to ever come out of Sweden! Thanks for your reaction.
ABBA were a great band. Absolutely masterfully written pop songs in their second language. Most groups in the 70s were secretly jealous at how good they were.
Love ABBA...and now I catch my teenage grandsons listening to them! This is probably my favorite ABBA song.
My favorite and absolutely gorgeous best song from this group. The intro is a fantastic reminder of what true classic singing was. What a wonderful 🤯💎. The keyboard player is terrific as well
This is my fave and dancing queen,on my playlist always
I love ABBA! You guys are delving real deep into my childhood. Apparently I could dance before I could walk. I would pull myself up to the coffee table and shake what God gave me. I was raised in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s. Those were the best items for music.
A lesser known song of ABBA’s ; Hole in your Soul is a rocker. Should give this a try; it’s really good!
So glad you've discovered the magic of ABBA. Please add some of Frida solos to your list; specifically FERNANDO; WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE; and SUPER TROUPER. Frida will blow your mind!
Money money money. Anni-Frid was lead vocal and was the hardest to replicate in their ABBA show world tour..
Abba has and created their own unique sound and style, Waterloo, The Winner takes it All, Super Trouper
The ABBA sound....forever and ever!!!❤
Their melodies, song structures, music is just perfect. Their hooks are unfu*king believable!
It's impossible not to like ABBA! Love them!
Awesome cool song; remember it back then and the whole "hook" of the song was that UPBEAT drive and the girl vocal harmony!!
ABBA "THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL" (original video). ❤️❤️❤️
Some ABBA songs leaves a smile on your face. That alone is a great legacy.
I am never embarrassed to say that ABBA was one of my favorite groups in the late 70’s/early 80’s. Incredible vocals and always well produced songs.
You missed ABB AT THERE BEST SO THANK GOODNESS FOR VIDO!
I grew up a Rock drummer, and ABBA is still one of my all time favorite groups to this day.
LOVE this song. I loved when it came out and still love it now. Love the harmonies. They were great and still are.
The ladies in ABBA were fantastic vocalists especially as they sang in a language other than Swedish! The gentlemen were amazing songwriters of good, catchy, timeless pop songs!
Super Amazing group jesus folks are still listen to them and will for years to come BRAVO ABBA. LOVE FROM DENMARK
Abba was a really talented group with such great harmonies and such joyful music.
I Always start my work day listening to ABBA . They always put me in a good mood
So nice to see you again reaction to more ABBA songs in your ABBA Journey
"Take a chance on me" (1978)
is one of their best ABBA hits in all the world,
the most selling song of ABBA in U.S. (more than Dancing Queen),
#3 in Billboard U.S.
one of their four Top10 in US :
#6 Waterloo (1974)
#1 Dancing Queen (1977)
#3 Take a chance on me (1978)
#8 The winner takes it all (1981)
This is one of few song than the vocals are more extensive than the music
(They begin 'a capela' and singing at the end)
the blonde singer Agnetha is the lead vocal in the solo verses, her voice is so powerful,
in perfect armonies and chorus with the brunette Anni Frid in co-leads vocal
(and the boys in back voices singing repetitive the frase 'take a chance, chance')
Agnetha & Anni Frid have fantastic voices and harmonies together
Agnetha is soprano
Anni Frid is mezzo soprano
and together made a 'third voice'
the guitarist Björn got the idea while jogging,
by the sound of the footsteps he interpreted t-k-t t-kt
and adapted it to
"take a chance, chance, take a chance",
so the song was born
Although it is a disco europop, it's like a constant and happy march, captivating, cloying, addictive
if I could give You a suggestion for next reaction, take a review of all "ABBA The Álbum"
(release at the same time with "ABBA The Movie" in 1977),
is a Masterpiece of versatility in each song,
but specialy the hymn "Thank you for the music"
I wish you a greatest week
My best regards from
Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷
South América
Knowing me Knowing you should be your next one. Iconic ABBA song. Some fans favourite track.
I love watching you both experience all the music I grew up listening to. May God Bless you and your family. Much love from Charleston WV.
Knowing me, Knowing you..is one of my favorite songs. Name of The Game is wonderful
Frida had a solo hit called"I Know There's Something Going On," which was produced by Phil Collins (who also played the drums on the track).
"Fernando", "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "Does Your Mother Know", "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme", "Money, Money, Money", "Thank You For The Music", "Voulez Vous", etc.
The production value on all the ABBA songs are spectacular.
My fav abba song
Now you know why ABBA was so popular in the UK! They were MASSIVE in the UK when I was growing up (70's - 80's). Like many here, I love metal, rock and lots of different genres but I STILL love ABBA. This is an example of why ABBA was (and is) so amazing. This IS my favourite ABBA song 🥰
ALL MOST ALL CAME OUT IN THE 70s THOGH.
Fun Trivia. Agnetha and Anna Frid were originally going to be back up vocals and Benny and Bjorn were going to be lead vocals. After hearing the ladies sing the guys said let's have them sing lead vocals instead. Great choice we got 12 years of Great POP music beautiful voices and ladies and fun songs, with a Cult following to this day. If you want a bopper of a song Voulez-Voue, Does your Mother Know and What's The Name of the Game. For good Drama Knowing Me Knowing You is the best. Also I love Agnethas outfit so cute that I'd even wear it.
ABBA were musical GENIUSES.
Oh great, now this song is stuck in my head again....
Their songs were just so listenable. As another poster said, they were a guilty pleasure. Loved them then, love them now.
"Does Your Mother Know" would be a good one to do next, because it more prominently features the _men's_ voices.
Loved the vocal continuo.
