So nice to see you again reaction to more ABBA songs in your ABBA Journey
"Take a chance on me" (1978)
is one of their best ABBA hits in all the world,
the most selling song of ABBA in U.S. (more than Dancing Queen),
    #3 in Billboard U.S.
one of their four Top10 in US :
    #6 Waterloo (1974)
    #1 Dancing Queen (1977)
    #3 Take a chance on me (1978)
#8 The winner takes it all (1981)
This is one of few song than the vocals are more extensive than the music
(They begin 'a capela' and singing at the end)
the blonde singer Agnetha is the lead vocal in the solo verses, her voice is so powerful,
in perfect armonies and chorus with the brunette Anni Frid in co-leads vocal
(and the boys in back voices singing repetitive the frase 'take a chance, chance')
Agnetha & Anni Frid have fantastic voices and harmonies together
    Agnetha is soprano
    Anni Frid is mezzo soprano
and together made a 'third voice'
the guitarist Björn got the idea while jogging,
by the sound of the footsteps he interpreted t-k-t t-kt
    and adapted it to
"take a chance, chance, take a chance",
    so the song was born
Although it is a disco europop, it's like a constant and happy march, captivating, cloying, addictive
if I could give You a suggestion for next reaction, take a review of all "ABBA The Álbum"
(release at the same time with "ABBA The Movie" in 1977),
is a Masterpiece of versatility in each song,
but specialy the hymn "Thank you for the music"
I wish you a greatest week
    My best regards from
    Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷
    South América

ABBA songs do sound very Christmassy. I'm an Aussie, so December is summer time for us. When I was a kid, my mum had the Spanish version of ABBA's Greatest Hits, and used to play it during December,. She told us they were Spanish Christmas songs. I guess she was sick of hearing lyrics about snow and reindeer in the middle of summer!

Here in the U.S., this single sold more (went Platinum) than 'Dancing Queen' (went Gold), yet still only went to #3 here on the Billboard charts because of 'Baker Street' and that friggin' 'Shadow Dancing'. The happiest song of the 70's imo. Thanks for the reaction.

They all spoke English, although, I gather that Agnetha has lost some of her fluency. They understood that, in order to "make it," especially in the UK, and other English speaking countries, notably Australia, that they _had_ to sing in English.
What you get with ABBA, is perfectly crafted pop/rock songs.
This song, in particular shows how to craft a whole verse/chorus, from one rhythmic idea, think "take a chance on me," which becomes the root of the rest of the melody.
They were seriously adventurous, melodically and harmonically, especially, their later stuff.
Have a listen to "The Winner Takes it All, and The Visitors, from their last album!

The funny thing about this is that it seems like such a happy, fun song - when it in truth is ANYTHING but. It is actually a VERY TWISTED song.
(I can't remember which are the perpetrators & who were the innocent victims for sure, so I won't say.)
This song was actually written mostly/fully? by one of the men in the group - as a song to get one of the women in the group to cheat on her husband (also in the group) AND have his OWN WIFE sing this song TO the intended other woman on his behalf (while the other woman, already facing his seduction attempts) knew the song she is also singing - is MEANT for her.)
In the end, his attempts work & both of their partners find out. Despite wanting to walk out & away from the group IMMEDIATELY (& BOTH of these couples had kids too!), their music producers FORCE them to continue to live out their contract - FOR ANOTHER FULL YEAR - touring, performing & making music together! The music company ALSO does NOT want the bad press (& drop in sales) if people knew the wicked story, so only 1 of the couples was allowed to break up 1st & then the other couple was allowed to do so quietly a year later & different reasons (NOT the real reason) was given. It was only later that the TRUE story came out.
Have a re-listen to this song & see how it really was.
I ALWAYS loved ABBA, but after the real story came out, I have not been able to listen to their music with the same enthusiasm.

    • @Carrie-so3ro
