    I was born a farmer. I grew up my entire life on 100 acre farm in Gholson, Texas. When I got back from war in Iraq. My great grandmother had passed away and my grandpa had sold the farm. I was told my entire life that I would own that land. Now it just tears me up every time I pass it. Not being used it's just withering away not being taken care of. I think that I need to get my own start to get my finances straight so I can eventually buy that land back. I think maybe if I farm some leased land I can get my start.

      Dustin, I wish your story was isolated or rare. For my family it was my Grandfather's Generation that let the family ranch leave and we are still trying to find a way to get it back. Give us a text or an email and I will set up a Zoom call with Heidi and get the ball rolling. Happy to help!

      Ours was our great grandmother's 600+ acre ranch in Llano, TX. After she passed in 2015 my grandmother sold it. 😢 It would have become a subject of contention and greed in our family, had it stayed in the family, I know. At least we have many many amazing memories and photos. Now hopefully we can get some land and start our own legacy and try our best to keep it in the family without any fighting over it.

      That's a heart-wrenching situation. I hope you're well on your way to getting that land back and are still on good terms with your grandfather to boot. It's unfortunate how quickly a situation like this can cause irreversible rifts within bloodlines and family ties. However, sometimes the most important thing in a family situation like this isn't truly about money, emotions, or opinions, but more about land stewardship and carrying on a legacy of giving the land the company and care it knows well, and in turn, help keep the balance of its ecosystem in delicate care and familiarity. I obviously don't know the full story, but I hope that the land is back in your care, or at least you're getting closer to that being the case. Thank you for your service, and best of luck in re-acquiring your family farm!

    I want to retire in TX. My dad moved there and sold land in MS, my inlaws sold land in LA and moved as well so I want my kids to have a place to bring their kids to like I did. I want to have animals, grow food, a view, and water. And be near enough to a city/town for something to do and not too far from an airport for travel. All on a teacher budget😆

      Hey Lori! Thanks for the feedback. So sorry that happened to you. The market changes so quickly, youtube videos about available land become dated quickly. Our videos mostly concentrate on helping people understand the process and the lifestyle. If you are interested in finding a good place, give us a call or send us an email and we can help you find what you are looking for. Have a great day!

    So who can really qualify to purchase 100 or 200 acres in an expensive market like Texas? What is a good annual income guideline to even entertain the idea?

    • @TexasLandandRanchLiving
      @TexasLandandRanchLiving  3 года назад +3

      You would be surprised! It's not just the income, it's the money down. Most people start with something smaller, then work their way up adding additional acres when they become available. Find 20-30, get to know your neighbors and buy off market.

    In a case where one paid for property with no second liens, will be sold to buy another, will collateral in the first property which is greater than the loan amount for the new property, speed up the loan approval process and provide for a lower interest rate?

      Natali, I'll tell you what I know and I'll also tell you when I don't. As far as the inner workings and structure differences between these two organizations, I just don't know. If I had to guess, I would say they have a similar structure. They are competitors serving the same market.
