I literally priced this exact thing but 10 sq ft LESS so 30x40 ------- it came up to 34 grand all in (no brick facing and a single door and lower roof line) ON sale
I just did the same type of building but 30x42.. Paid 2000.00 to get the site leveled and dirt work down, set up and poured my own pad with some buddies, 20 yards of concrete and supplies, (form boards, vapor barrier, wire, steel) cost me 4800.00 Building set up by Samson steel cost 14.500.00. Base total before any upgrades like doors and window or insulation came to around 23g.
I just put up a 50 x70 with provisions for three lifts and with all the rebar and mesh the concrete slab was $4600 doing the labor myself with a few friends.
@@kimtran228 Where I live you can pour all the concrete you want without a permit so that was no problem. I am a contractor and my situation on the building itself is different than what yours will be since I play poker once a month with the mayor and two guys and a lady from the city. I still had to pay for the permits and had to put up the building according to the building code, but getting the permits was not a problem. You will have to get a hold of the planning and development department in your town to find out exactly what they will want from you. They will ask you to submit a building plan so find yourself a consultant and include their services in your budget. Also, make sure you know how much the permits are going to be so you can add them to your budget as well. Some of the fees can be costly in some areas.
What's the best way to paint a door like the white one. Yours looks very well done. I have a metal building with one of those doors and I want to paint it but not sure of the best way. Thanks
I'm going to be doing this, albeit slightly smaller of a building. Thanks for breaking the costs down. Thank goodness there isn't an HOA to crimp my style.
G Crauwels awesome. Keep us posted on how it goes and give Elite Metal Structures a call, let them know you watched this video and they will give a discount.
Prices are going to vary widely based upon local costs. My 40x60 concrete bill was $5k labor, $14K concrete, $4500 for rebar, plus excavation and fill dirt to level the pad (had a 3 foot slope). Different styles of build framing have different concrete requirements. Different locals have different codes for footings.
Awesome video 👍 finally someone who actually explained pricing and the reasoning for it, I have been planning on building this exact one for over a few months now. I have seen some go even cheaper if I am willing to do some of the work. I just have a hard time deciding between wood or metal 🤔 I like the metal buildings but wood buildings are easier to; insulate, run electric, plumbing, and heat/ac. I work full time and have a small business on the side and I go trail riding sometimes with my Jeep. My current "shop" is getting very crowded and I have to share it with 4 people. So I am in the process of finding out what's involved to put up a building like this one in my area. Thanks for the video now I have a general idea of a budget/savings to do 👍
My sons and I built my shed/barn(according to who you ask) in 2001. It is 30x40' with 10'3" clear height inside and 6'3" clear 30x40' loft. It is 23' peak height with 6/12 and 17/12 pitched roof. Fully insulated, concrete floor, OSB inside walls covered, bright red metal outside with white metal roof. At the time the building cost me $15,000. The reason I mention it is, I ran the metal on the sides horizontal as your shed is. I think it makes for a better look! You still need to do electrical installation yet. At least if you're going to put in a lift, you will. Congratulations on a very nice building! Respectfully, Kevin
HOA nothing but a scam. I would never want any association telling me what I can and can't have or do around my place. My brother has a home like that and he can't even have his boat in his drive way. What a joke. Stay away
Good morning from schulenburg, Texas 😊 I just wanted to thank you for sharing video on your metal building and how you done the insulation and the floors and I really loved brick you done a great job it turned out beautiful. Can't wait to show my husband because I told him we could have some brick put on the building, but I don't think he believed me so I'll show him how beautiful yours turned out. Thank you again oh your cars a beautiful too.
This is awesome! I want to do something similar but build out a living space in part of mine and make it a proper live/work situation. I've got all the guys to do the plumbing etc and this has been encouraging to watch and see that it really is affordable!
I put up a Stick built addition to my garage 24’ deep x16’ wide & 16’ high the slab was 27 yards of 4K lbs concrete - trusses -9 @$125. A piece- 2’ on center. Also did a section 6’ x12’ of 12” thick concrete for a lift. 2x6 stud walls. In my area Hudson Valley, NY - building permit not able to have a complete garage bigger than the square footage of my house, they are serious as a heart attack. 10’x10’ insulated garage door installed was $1800. +/- this was done in 2011 grand total $19,000. +/-!
My 24x36 I-beam style building in Las Vegas cost me about 40k when all said and done. This was with me putting up the building but my building was only 11k delivered to my driveway. The rest was in cement, which my pad has insane footers of 3x3x3 under every beam, and all the other bs the city wanted. I had to have my yard core sampled 15ft down, soil tests done, an architect draw up offical pad plans, a fastener inspection done, it was a total pain in the a$$. I finally had to hire a contractor to just deal with the city and put me in touch with the right people. I got off cheap at 40k it could of been much worse. I'm glad that you don't have to deal with that stuff in your area.
Wow and thank you for the comment. I had no idea what other states could make you go through. I feel a little better about, what I thought was a rough process. LOL

I'm building a log home now and trying to decide if a metal building can fit in with the log home vibe. It'll cost me 4-5 times more money to build a matching log garage than it will to build a metal garage. Any suggestions?
So for me I wanted a garage that matched the house. I got a Quote for a stick built building with brick and it was about five times more than what I paid with the brick façade.
@@JohnEngel Ya.. thats pretty much the same situation here. I was considering stick building it myself and log siding it, but even that route would cost more than double the cost of a metal garage. We're only building a 24x24 two car garage. Tho I wouldn't mind a loft upstairs.. its not a deal breaker if we don't get it. Anyway.. I'm debating on getting a metal building.. and trying to match the color as close as possible to the log stain on the house.. and then log siding the front face only. I'm still un-decided tho. Anyway.. nice job on the garage. It looks great.
@@JohnEngel Oh.. our other option is to try and match the metal siding to the metal roof on the log home. That way.. it wouldn't be a matching log home.. but it would still look like we coordinated it with the metal color. Cheers...
@@JohnEngel I may check with the metal garage company about putting up the frame.. and roof etc.. and then I can finish with log siding. I'll look into it. Cheers..
I have the exact same size metal garage as yours. I really like the brick front. Did you have to do a special footing for the brick, if so what size footings?
great video ty for it, a question I have is you said 12 ft is that to the sidewall, and in the middle a lot taller because of the kind of rafters they used, I was wondering what the middle tallest point is. and is the lift going in the middle. One other question is what are your outermost measurements for the building. are they 30 x 50 or a little larger for the framing? ty for the vid I will be checking out elite.
I buy, sell, service and install lifts and other shop equipment for a living and have done so for years. I have literally installed hundreds, probably thousands of lifts in shops, garages, barns, even outdoors. The requirements for installing a 7,000-10,000 pound lift are for the concrete thickness to be 4". When you pour extra thick concrete where you plan to install your lift, You waste your money and you take away the installer's options if you ever decide to move your lift. During the install, you drill all the way through the slab for every anchor bolt. In the event you move the lift or have to lay it down to do work on it, you can take the nuts and washers off the anchors and drive the anchors down even with the slab. If you have extra thick concrete, you can't do that. Your option is to lean the post over while you use a grinder to cut the bolts off or to manhandle the post up to get it off the bolts. It's dangerous and difficult to move the post if the anchors are still sticking up out of the floor. Also, common sense should tell you that a wedge anchor works against the concrete that is above and around the anchor itself. Having extra thick concrete does absolutely nothing to help your lift stay anchored to the slab. What good is concrete that is deeper than the anchor is long? PLEASE, if you intend to install a lift, DON'T pour extra thick concrete where you want the post anchored. Every manual that comes with every lift and every website from every manufacturer and everything you can find from every available source source you wish to check will tell you the same thing. Minimal thickness for concrete is 4". YOU DON'T NEED MORE. A little research goes a long way.
@@tomfletcher3817 Manufacturers ALL specify in their manuals and on their websites what the minimum required thickness and the minimum required strength of the concrete should be to accomodate the lift installation. For a two post lift rated up to 9,000#, it is 4" and 3000#. Those are minimum requirements and ALL operate on that standard.
Nice building. Could you please share the name of the company you bought the building from? I'm thinking about putting up a similar structure at my property. Thanks.
$17k???? Really for a new building... You do realize that that is damn low price right? Low enough that taking care of a leak like that would be something to expect and be happy to take care of. Did you think he only paid $100k for his house as well?

@@JohnEngel Concrete cracks that is why control joints are used to hopefully control where the cracks end up but there will be cracks. Beautiful shop for a reasonable price. What state are you in?

I just did the same type of building but 30x42.. Paid 2000.00 to get the site leveled and dirt work down, set up and poured my own pad with some buddies, 20 yards of concrete and supplies, (form boards, vapor barrier, wire, steel) cost me 4800.00 Building set up by Samson steel cost 14.500.00. Base total before any upgrades like doors and window or insulation came to around 23g.
That’s awesome. Glad to see some prices coming down.
I just put up a 50 x70 with provisions for three lifts and with all the rebar and mesh the concrete slab was $4600 doing the labor myself with a few friends.
@Anthony Nelson - How did your permit process go? Did you get a civil or structural engineer to draw your plans for permitting before you began?
Thanks
PoppaJimmy I used rustoleum spray cans. They worked great and have the color I wanted.

Thank you so much. It’s worth every penny. You will love it.
I'm going to be doing this, albeit slightly smaller of a building. Thanks for breaking the costs down. Thank goodness there isn't an HOA to crimp my style.

@@JohnEngel Wilco and thanks!
Brian G C thank you so much for this. I think it helps to find out what others have done and costs associated with it.
did you add any material between the brick and the metal building? like Zip Board?
It is held on using metal strips.

Thank you so much. I just did a video on lighting for the shop. Thank you again.
Now the HOA knows better, good luck! Nice garage, thanks for posting.

What is the distance from the floor to the bottom of the angled bracing on the side walls?
HOA nothing but a scam. I would never want any association telling me what I can and can't have or do around my place. My brother has a home like that and he can't even have his boat in his drive way. What a joke. Stay away

Have you built your building yet
I put up a Stick built addition to my garage 24’ deep x16’ wide & 16’ high the slab was 27 yards of 4K lbs concrete - trusses -9 @$125. A piece- 2’ on center. Also did a section 6’ x12’ of 12” thick concrete for a lift. 2x6 stud walls. Nice building I like the way you blended it in with your house!
Thank you. I’m really happy with the end result.
LOL

Just a suggestion you could put up s solar light on the garage.

How much extra was the roof vapor barrier and could you have have them vapor barrier the whole building?

The footings are 6 foot by 6 foot all the way in the back left side.
Man, I just got quoted for a 30x50 wood build garage for 180k. Your looks awesome. Im definitely looking into this.

Any city permits? Drawings? I’m trying to make some drawings for permit
Don Guillermo del Norte yes on both. I went to the city office and they give you a packet with everything they want and how they want it. Then you complete the forms and pay 250. They will come inspect along the way and at the end sign off on the building.

I'm apologize if this has already been answered, but what type paint did you use for the doors? Also, method of application?
It turned out that rustoleum spray paint made it super simple and much easier than a lot of those garage door coating systems. Ask me how I know, I bought one for $100 and it looks like crap.
HOA = stay far far away ! Zoning boards are bad enough. But I'm a 50 year old country boy and have 0 interest in buying a house to live out my life in town or a development packed up my nabors nose.

Get one level higher service wiring connected to the building by the utility company than you expect to need.
It costs a little more for the wire from pole to building, but its cheaper than having to redo it.
Cheers...
@@randomstuffwithjoe that’s a great idea. How about a false wood front. Basically cut the logs in half and make the metal building look like it’s log?

great video ty for it, a question I have is you said 12 ft is that to the sidewall, and in the middle a lot taller because of the kind of rafters they used, I was wondering what the middle tallest point is. and is the lift going in the middle. Elite just built a nice metal barn for my cousin in Branford.
Yours is awesome too!
Nice barn. I like how to matched up the brick to match the house. (-:
Roger Smith thank you. :)
What did you put on the floor?
Great question. Here is the video. ruclips.net/video/aLCLn_vYAa4/видео.html
Great info and I wish that I had known this before. I am interested in a 4 post and 2 post lift. Have any deals for something delivered and installed?
Philip Brown some don’t run on minimums, especially structural.
@@JohnEngel What part of the country are you in?
@@tomfletcher3817 Manufacturers ALL specify in their manuals and on their websites what the minimum required thickness and the minimum required strength of the concrete should be to accomodate the lift installation. For a two post lift rated up to 9,000#, it is 4" and 3000#. Those are minimum requirements and ALL operate on that standard.
@@JohnEngel I have 2 - nice used 7000# Rotary two post. I have 1 8000# AAA four post.
