I searched low budget living/houses ONCE in youtube and now I get nothing but builds from people with half a million to a million to burn. So much for youtube helping me stay "on the cheap" hahaha.
You gotta check out the mobile home tours lol. That's more realistic. And you would be surprised what you find.
''burn'', i mean.. you get a pretty nice home... In Norway a house like this would be 750k to a Million $...

I think what he means by "burn" is the fact that these kits are overly priced materials above the grade you would get if you sourced them warehouse on your own, the fact that it says on their website that it "works with contractor to set pricing" tells me that if you don't work with the contractor, they will actually hit you with an even higher fee versus a contractor who would hit you with an even greater fee.....either way, you are paying for it. Just by eye, I price this home to be about 50,000 or less in parts, just have to pay for labor, permit, and certification passing, but I'm sure that they will charge well over 150k.

By Europe standard it's actually big house 😁 Especially to see it as single story house. That kind of space is usually luxury so you need to go vertical. Also kit house is totally new thing to me 😯
A home that size in a major US city could be a couple million. Price matters so much by location here in the states.
If that place was in West London it would definitely be in the tens of millions

It's still a pretty big home by US standards. Average newer US home is probably around 1700 sq feet, but it varies a lot based on location.

Well, I've been looking forward to this day for all these days and months. You finally did it and its beautiful. I'm 85 years old and Kit homes looked nothing like that in my day. My wife and I really love the modern design. I could see me on that patio watching a game or movie and a draft or two. Bless you, both and fly safely...Gary Hand

Smart, very smart. Not to mention that a bit more than a third can be a business write off. Add an efficiency when you build a garage for the plane too. Then use it as a stop over for clients and as an air B & B for other times. (air tours, weekenders, etc)
We are paying off 10 acres out in the country hoping to build a home out there. We've considered several kit houses too. Thanks for the video! This helps us make a better educated decision.

Kit homes are available in Australia, several companies make them, i built one yrs ago, all welded steel frame and roof trusses, only wood is the front porch posts and of course internal doors and trim

I grew up in a Sears home kit built in 1913. When my parents remodeled there were newspapers as insulation in the walls. Was an awesome house.
My house was originally built in 1900 and was added on to a couple times. I've got shingles and tar paper between some walls, a crazy looking axe-cut beam that was salvaged from a barn or something, and one doorway (only one) that's only 6'. People used what they had available and made stuff up as they went, which seems unthinkable today.

Those craftsman homes are great lol. What sucks, is that you can go into most shitty neighborhoods in the north and find a house with real oak trim and real hardwood floors, and people are shooting heroine in that house...

Can you guys put together a video explaining how you went about the "Owner, builder" process? What did you have to be incharge of, what you have to schedule, who you had to higher? That would be amazing! I'm very interested in this kit and going about this same process you did.

Generally you get a construction to permanent loan. For the time agreed by you, and the bank there is no mortgage due. The bank gives you the funds to build, and you give them to the contractor/builder. You as the owner/borrower have to manage the money, and distribute it as only needed. People get ripped off when they give the builder all the funds at once. Never do that. Think of yourself as the bank, and the builder as the borrower. Your ONLY going to give him what he needs at that specific time. You have to either finish the build early, or on time. Either way, as soon as you reach completion, you contact the bank, and you negotiate
(usually an already promised, or somewhat ball park figure of the interest),
and you roll into a permanent loan. Whether that be a 30 yr fix, or whatever. I owned some land for a few yrs., then finally built a home on it. I kinda went through the same experience as in this video.
Immediately goes to website to check out floor plans only to see that they are unable to go east of Colorado. I was Immediately bummed out. Really enjoy this house.

Kit houses have been a thing for several generations. The Sears Roebuck catalogs used to sell them back in the nineteen thirties (I think.)

As much money as they spent on this "DREAM HOME" $550K plus the price of 76+ acres which was easily another $450K there over a MILLION+ they had to pay for hook ups like..
electricity, plumbing, hvac, foundation cost's etc. now were looking at about 1.2 M and they probably can't even get a G of internet speeds. IDIOTS!!
I could've bought a FEW apartment complex's for that price. Which would've made me a few million in the first year or two alone. TYPICAL WHITE FOLKS. LOL (PS I'M WHITE)

This was always the first thing I looked at when looking for a house. Real estate listings are terrible in this regard and many never show the inside of the garage.

@@chrisaerts6489 That is a nice ratio. Mine is the exact opposite with my garage being 1600. That is good enough for now. I made sure to have 18' ceiling for a lift, RV, or whatever.

Definitely need a Experimental sticker or sign somewhere on the house, or at least on the water tank. Thanks for the tour you did an amazing job you should be proud of what you’ve accomplished.
You saved so much time by having the finishes in the kit. It’s also hard to change anything on a kit. On top of that, most fights and even divorces, happen at the point of choosing finishes and fixtures. I’ve been a contractor for 30 years and I’ve seen it over and over. I always try to get homeowners to chose before we start.

When you can do so, adding some big throw rugs will improve the accoustics in that room, and remove a good portion of the echo effect in it, from hard reflective surfaces.

Great looking house. Perfect for the location. Having had a similar home in CO in the mountains I would recommend limited sod. Plant mostly local flora. Minimal watering.

It isn't really small and the price is even larger. Somewhere around $430,000.
American here.. when the last of our two kids moved out we downsized from a 7200 sq. ft. House with 7 acres.. to a 1500 sq. ft. house with just 30 acres.. and a 1200 sq. ft. Shop... space is cheap here .. if you get outside of the big cities.
2,400 is still big in America.
