I'll never forget that they filmed the bus jump scene on a freeway that took SO LONG for the construction to finish.
You guys should check out Non Stop staring Liam Neeson and Frequency from 2000
For Andrew, Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix starred in an indie movie, My Private Idaho.
Fun Fact: Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock have both revealed in interviews that they both had crush on each other during the making of this film. However they have never acted on it due to timing, one or the other would always be in a relationship. To this day they remain the closest of friends. I wish they do more movies in the future.
Fun Fact: This comment is spam.
@@maybachyard Not so fun fact: Your reply is unnecessarily rude.
I wish they make babies
Fun fact: I'm getting popcorn, hold off on juicy comments. 🍿😂
Yep she even visited one of his dogstar concerts recently
Jeff Daniels death in this is the best “I’m dead and I know it” moment in film.
I cried the 1st time I watched that scene, because his face says it all... and his fear of what is going to happen to his partner was present even in his death.
Then the pure anger and grief of Jack later.
The fact that he was almost the movies second villain. I think I would've liked that twist.
The 2nd best is Gary Oldman in The Fifth Element.
Don't forget Johnny Depp in Elm Street the dream bed scene😉
Incorrect. The best one is Switch, from The Matrix.
7:54 You're right, when Keanu freaked out after learning about Harry's death he was channeling his anger and despair at Rivers passing.
That moment at 47:00 right? Great moment/scene there though I'd bet much of that was real anger/grief. 💔
Yeah. They were very close.
How do you know?
“Oh that’s cool they have the hostages there (at the medal ceremony) nice touch”
Me, who has seen this movie a dozen times: Oh yeah, I have definitely noticed that before 😏
I love this movie. My college girlfriend and I saw it on our first date. Four years later we were married. Next month is our 26th anniversary.
Saw it at 14 with my first girlfriend on our first date. She is now a he. 😂😂😂
@batbrick3949 So cool! Thanks for sharing that
Oh wow you are lucky I wish I got to live in an era with such nice cars yeah I'm like half of those cars in this movie aren't even from the 90s, but cars you see in the 90s are so hot. Like the 80s cars.
Oh congratulations!!!
What a perfect action movie. Exciting, funny, so smartly written, hasn't aged at all. And Keanu and Bullock have amazing chemistry. It stands alongside Die Hard as one of the most entertaining films ever.
And it even takes place in the same universe as Die Hard.
While watching the confused reaction to the UHF camera feed is the first time I have seen its age. It was such a non-digital world at the time. Doesn't bother me but WOW reactions make me feel old 😂
One of the best action movies of the 90s still holds up🙌
It truly does. It's a great film. The chemistry is off the charts.
This is one of those films that I'll always watch when it's on TV even though I've seen it about a thousand times. It never gets boring! 🙌
Except the bus jump scene which 30 years later is still unforgiveable man... I was 5yo when I first saw the movie in 1995 and even I knew that physics doesn't work that way 😂
My then 6 year old daughter said "Did God throw the bus???"
- Haven't thought about that in years lol
Perfect combo! We got Roxy who recognizes everyone but can name no one. And Andrew, who names EVERYONE and all the extras.
Did you know that Speed didnt have a director because if Speed had a direction it would be called Velocity?
Ha, and I just learned about vectors recently.
Lol that's great!
Ba dum tish. 🥁 😆
😂
Roxy, you should definitely watch the Lake House for more Keanu and Sandra Bullock
The greatest sin of this movie is that Keanu had a thing for Sandra Bullock, while she had a thing for him! And they both ignored it!
Yeah, I do wonder maybe they will get together when they are much much older. That would be sweet, they are still very close friends.
I thought they did get together for a bit bts tho
I wouldn't say they ignored it necessarily. They were both too shy to make a move. It's a bummer too. They would've made a good couple.
Professionalism
@@thedarkemissaryNot professionalism, as much as professionalism but also equally if not far more shyness and respect.
Between Speed, Point Break, The Matrix films, and the John Wick films, Keanu Reeves needs to be on the Mount Rushmore of action movie gods!
I'd put Tom Cruise, Jackie Chan, and Arnold as the other three.
@@emmakai2243 No Sylvester Stallone???
@@jkhoover He's great, but yeah, not above the said mentioned 4.
@@emmakai2243 I have to disagree.
@@jkhoover And totally understand. I'd put Stallone as a better actor, but if strictly talking "action"...I like T1, T2, Predator, Commando, etc over the Stallone Rocky's/Rambo's/etc.
The cans scene always gets first timers ALWAYS!!!
I will NEVER forget the audience reaction (me included) watching this in theaters when the movie first came out! 😱😱😱
1:20:27 i'm not sure if it was her follow-up movie, but "The Net" is a GREAT thriller that delves into identity theft in its infancy, when the internet took off in the mid 90's.
Great movie
One of the signs of how good a film this is, is how invested I am in the hostages…even the background ones. I want to know so much about all these people! They all felt soooo real!
This is probably the movie that moved Keanu into the A-list. It cost about 40 million and made 350 million, so it was a big success.
"The Net" with Sandra B. Is awesome 👌 should watch it .
Oooh you don't hear about The Net that often. I agree it's a great thriller film!
The Net is a bad movie. I watch it whenever it's on, but that's nostalgia, it's not good.
"The Pelican Brief" is another great Sandra Bullock film
@@RaptorNX01 That's Julia Roberts in the Pelican Brief. Good movie, but not Sandra Bullock.
@@Greybeardmedic ****. yeah I had a brain fart there. thanks.
"The Los Angeles Metro Rail is an urban rail transit system serving Los Angeles County, California in the United States. It consists of six lines: four light rail lines (the A, C, E and K lines) and two rapid transit (known locally as a subway) lines (the B and D lines), serving a total of 101 stations."
Keanu Reeves in Parenthood is brilliant too...I think that and Bill and Ted were my introduction to his acting.
Speed is one of my comfort films. I love the out of this world chemistry, and then the bond between Jack and Harry.
Ahhhh it's just so good.
Oh I love the movie Parenthood too. I wish more people would react to that movie.
Parenthood is so underrated. Love that movie
Keanu had also done Beams Stoker's Dracula before this also, if no one seen that
36:50 The interesting thing is that they REALLY JUMPED this bus. Obviously a stunt rig without passengers. What they used CG on was that there was actually no gap in the road in the jump shots. They added the gap digitally.
I still love the fact that they accidentally did the jump for real, IE they cleared the 50 foot distance the gap was supposed to have and they weren't even trying to.
There were plans were Jeff Daniels' character didn't die and he would serve as the antagonist or something which I don't know if it would've worked. I will say his death scene in this film as the camera pans to his face realizing it's over just gut wrenching.
in the first draft, Harry was going to be the bomber and Dennis Hopper's character was only going to be in the opening before being killed off Harry was to retire after being shot in the leg by jack and after the first bus explodes jack thinks that the bomber was back before later on being revealed to be Harry
This movie, & Twister, are both usually on through the entire summer months & I will always sit & watch either when they’re on. I find both oddly comforting ❤
6:12 - The first Matrix movie's "Security" scene starts with the same music.
I know, I heard it too.
Great spot! That's 100% it
@@scaryfstball100I'm glad it wasn't just me 😂
other films that Sandra Bullock did in the 90s that you guys should check out: Love Potion #9 (1994); The Net (1990)
Sandra Bullock has been one of my favorite actresses since I was a kid and Speed contributed to that.
thanks for the reaction, Roxy and Andrew! 😄
Dennis Hopper was a phenomenal actor. He played villains so well.
Yes! Can't believe you haven't already seen this classic. Such a great action flick. Really hope you follow up young Sandy in her 1995 thriller THE NET - she is beyond adorable in it!
The Net is so good. The amount of anxiety that film gave me, on the edge of my seat all the way through.
@@LarissaFay 100% one of my all time Sandy B films. Also love Murder by Numbers - though it has a bit of a yuck factor. Love her character in it though.
I'm a simple man, I see Roxy Striar or Andrew I click 😂
Ya, she needs to lighten up a lil bit though...
This movie is your typical non-stop action blockbuster filled with explosions and cheesy one-liners. And I love it! 🙌
Cheesy one liners? The writing in older movies is way better than the writing today
This movie still holds up for me. Always a fun watch.
This is my favorite story about this movie. There's a chance that no one sees it and that's fine. I kinda just wanna share. My dad took me to see this movie in the theaters. To this day I'm not sure what happened to the film, but somehow it burned up right as the elevator drops. Boom. Movie over. The theater had to issue refunds and ticket passes to see a free movie another night. Even with that my dad was still pissed off that we only saw 10 minutes of the movie. Unless the movie was dirt cheap my dad would rather rent movies or buy blank tapes and record them off of cable channels than buy movies new. He bought Speed on VHS the opening week. He still has that tape in his VHS collection by the TV. It's one of my favorite movies to this day. Also I have it on Blu-Ray with a special Deadpool slipcase promoting Deadpool 2.
Wow, I'll be honest... I'm in love with Roxy's voice... ok, I'll collect myself for a moment to concentrate on the reaction...🤣😉
In the original draft Harry was the man who put the bomb on the bus. He was forced to retire after Jack shot him in the leg, and Denis Hopper's character died in the opening. The script was changed after Jeff Daniels was cast as Harry. They believed that Jeff Daniels was "too likeable" and audiences wouldn't believe him as a bad guy.
Can't believe I never knew that!!!
@clevelandcbi There are nods to it. "I got a medal, too, Jack. I got medal, then a pink slip and a "Sorry about your hand." Only in Harry's case it would've been."Sorry about your leg."
Perfect movie, sandra and keanus chemistry was brilliant to watch throughout the film. Love the tension throughout Definitely in my top 20 films of all time 😊
They both later admitted they had crushes on each other on set but neither wanted to admit it to the other. They could have been an ultimate 90's power couple
Roxy and Andrew are the best combination because he is a walking IMDB page and can answer any questions she might have. I love it!
Hahaha I’ve noticed this! When I have questions, he has answers!
“Pop quiz, hot shot!” Still one of my favorite lines that I use to this day 😄
if someone mentions a quiz or something like that, i still reply "shoot the hostage". lol
@@RaptorNX01 🤣🤣🤣 I’m gonna use that now too!

I loved keanu when i was younger and this movie solidified him for me i dont know how many times i have watched this movie
Couldn't stop the train because when bad guy shot the conductor it damaged the panel. The big red button Keanu hit and it sparked was the embrake button but didn't work that whybhe speeded it up to jump the track
Such a classic movie. They dont make action movies like this anymore.
"I think it was called, 'The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down'."
This, The Negotiator and Sphere were my Holy Trinity for late 90’s movies
I'd throw Outbreak in there too.
@@Iiva69 100%
Back when Keanu had all the intense expressions. I still love him, tho.
The scene where Jack and Annie escape the bus is one of the most romantic moments ever in an action movie. The music the way it spins into the cones. Just a beautiful scene.
i agree
*"Keanu, you are a national treasure"*- Sonic The Hedgehog
And as of yesterday, Keanu is now SHADOW!
I recognize that actor from the elevator as The Winkie's Diner guy from David Lynch's Mulholland Drive. That scene scares the hell out of me no matter how many times I see it.
Roxy and Andrew are such a good combination!
FYI - “The need for speed!” Is from the first Top Gun film.
I agree Keanu has great acting moments in many films, ppl just hear the tone of his voice and hey distracted by it and think he is all “dude” only. I really love some parts of Matrix Resurrections for his performance.
Also when I realised the composer for SPEED also did Bad Boys 1 and that’s why their main themes have the same feel really made the universe make sense.
Roxy and Gordon are my two favorite people to watch on this channel
Not sure when she did The Net but I think it was around this time. Must watch. Love that film, Sandy B is great in it. About Speed 2, it's not one of the worst movies its just that the choice of the vehicle didn't work out, plus the absence of Keanu so we didn't get his and Sandy B's chemistry.
it did have some good action scenes. i thought the villain was pretty good, and the big major vfx scene near the end was so well done.
59:30 THE SOUND that came out of Andrew 😂🤣
The 105 freeway in LA was still under construction during the production of the film, so they were able to use it to their advantage, pretty great timing lol
When Sandy B and Keanu were doing the promotion circuit before the movie was released, Sandy B was on Ellen and Ellen asked her if She and Keanu dated. She replied that they had not but that she had a major crush on him throughout the filming. Keanu was on another talk show a few days later and the host of that talk show played back that part of Sandy B's interview for Keanu to see and then asked Keanu if he knew that Sandy B had been crushing on him. His reply was that he had no idea until just now but that he had been crushing on Sandy B as well during the filming. Unfortunately, neither one of them realized that and they were both too professional to let those feelings possibly risk the chemistry between them that the movie really required.
Did Ellen even have a show then??? I know I saw them both say it a couple years ago.
No, Ellen did not even have her show yet. They said that on Ellen many years AFTER the movie was released. It was in the 2000's when they were on Ellen and said that.
@@brendag5263 Yes it was. I never said it was on Ellen before the movie was released. I said they were on the promotional circuit. I have no idea what Sandy B was promoting but if I remember correctly, Keanu was promoting "John Wick 3".
@@USCanthony ... Yes you said it was before the movie was released. Go back and read your comment.
@@brendag5263 My mistake. I knew it was way after the movie was released. It was late at night and I probably wasn't thinking about what I was typing. I knew I had seen the interview on Ellen and I was correct about that so give me a break. My comment was correct, the timeframe was a bit off but that does not take away from the fact that what they said is correct.
“The need for speed” line is from Top Gun 😂 Maverick and Goose deliver the lines
Roxy is kickass at figuring stuff out
Thanks! I really try lol
0:08 The need for speed line is from top gun
Andrew seems like the coolest dude, I really like his vibes. Always super knowledgable about movies too. :) Great reaction guys!
Fantastic reaction, thank you so much. This was so much fun. I could tell you were having a lot of fun throughout the movie. 😊❤
Supposedly, when Sandra tells Ortis to get behind the yellow line on the bus, it was improved by Bullock herself.
Speed 2 is fun. Saw it in theaters. Gotta watch it for Willem Dafoe
No, no it is not
Sandra Bullock was one of my early celebrity crushes, and this movie was no small part of that
Y'all should watch Unstoppable with Denzel Washington. It's amazing and keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time.
Fun fact, Jan did Twister just a year or two later and used many of the same actors in that that you saw here, most notably Alan Ruck but also many of the background actors.
Roxy, you are for sure SUPER SMART!!! Wicked Smaht! Calling the bus using the runway was 💰
I love Dennis Hopper everywhere between Easy Rider to My Science Project the best movie he was in was blue velvet oh God you got to see blue velvet guys you want to see Dennis Hopper it his best yeah💜💜💜
"My Science Project" needs more love from reactors. its so underrated.
I haven't watched this in a long time, but damn does it still hold up. Awesome reaction!
If you guys haven't already seen it, another suggestion for a great action movie with an amazing cast is the 2004 movie "Cellular", which stars Chris Evans, Jason Statham, William H. Macy, and Kim Basinger.
Got dang it Roxy....when the villain shot the train driver it shot up the console!!!!
It never stops to amaze me how many top online movie reviewers have not seen such obviously classic films 🤔🤣
A great example of a 'they don't make them like they used to' movie
I think Sandy did 'A Time To Kill' around this time too. Her role was small compared to the leads but she got a lot of praise for that performance.
If you havent seen some of her lesser known films you gotta check out:
While You Were Sleeping
28 Days (Personally I think this is the best performance of her career)
Devine Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood and
Hope Floats
Both of them fit on a bus access panel but two people couldn't fit on the big door in titanic
The Director and Keanu were the only ones who knew that the Baby Stroller coming in front of the Bus was going to happen.... Sandra was kept in the dark about it that is why Sandra gave that raw/real Shocked and shook-up Reaction.
I remember everyone laughed at the concept of SPEED when the trailer came out, but EVERYONE was blown away by how not only thrilling, and fun it was. The fact it had a solid plot with characters (even the secondary ones) we ended up caring for. The chemistry between Keanu and Sandra was totally legit that it helped make it real or even possible.
The two of you should totally watch The Lakehouse to see Keanu and Sandra together again. It’s a great movie. ❤
I always thought it was so funny that when the subway plowed thru the wall the wall said “safety first”. 😂😂😂😂
I'd love to see speed 2 reaction, but I would watch you all react to paint drying.... As long as it's satin finish
I saw this movie about a bus that had to SPEED around a city, keeping its SPEED over fifty, and if its SPEED dropped, it would explode! I think it was called ''The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down.
Only true Eddie Izzard fans get this.
I’ve loved Alan Rick since I was a kid growing up watching him on Spin City. God he was hilarious on that.
Alan Ruck is the true hero of “Ferris Bueller”, for having the world’s worse “best friend”.
I love how Roxie can guess the mystery behind the movies and yet in the same reaction not be sure where "i have need for speed" famous quote came from. Such pure innocence. Roxie is so fun.
❤❤❤ thank you
@@roxystriar you're welcome
The last great classic action movie. I watched this so many times as a teen. So much fun seeing you enjoy it so much ❤
u should see Sandra Bullock in The Net. I believe it was some time after Speed.
I saw this movie in the theatre... it's been one of my fav action movies ever since.
I was 12 when this movie came out. It was one of those surprise great iconic movies. Still holds well to this day.
Watching it with you guys as i make and eat breakfast was exciting, and yet you guys reminded me of all the nostalgia of living in the moment of the release of this movie. My living situation, me thinking i was bad ass on my bike or roller blades having the action theme song playing in my mind. Every commentary you guys had of this movie's greatness made my eyes swell up. Im a sucker for great things being made or accomplished and that stands the test of time and handed down to generations that will have the same acknowledgement and respect. Mix that with pop culture and nostalgia and i turn to spaghetti.
So excited to see Roxy and Andrew react to this movie! This movie is so cool! 👍 🚌
It was amazing!
Roxy is awesome she’s got a different energy it’s awesome
No one gives Johnny Mnemonic enough credit as one of Keanu's awesome 90s action flicks.
This is my most watched film. Must've seen it more than 50 times and I'll watch it 50 more
I don’t subscribe to many reactors but you two were so awesome in this so I subscribed. Love Sandra in The Net, 28 days and so many other films.
Thanks, really appreciate it 🙏
What a kind thing to say :)
The scriptwriters should have won all the awards. This is a masterclass in building tension.
Great reaction and review to a stone-cold “instant classic”. Fun fact: director Jan de Bont, was a brilliant cinematographer for years before he directed this movie. Hence, one of the reasons why the cinematography was so stellar.
I don’t care what anyone says, Speed 2 is good. Not on the level of the 1st, but I like watching it. I never fail to watch this one anytime it’s on TV.

Everyone has a heart attack at the baby carriage. And then overwhelming relief when they see the cans. 😅😂
Aww you editor cut the "Yeah but I'm taller." line! :D 😅🤣😂🤣😁
I’m commenting on the popped bus tire. I think one of them said something about “flat”. The tire blew out all of its air completely when it hit the spikes. But the rear axle is a dual or “dually” axle where you have two tires in tandem on each side/hub. So there’s now more pressure on the tire next to the blown tire but everything’s still rolling along. The big problem is the blown tire will probably begin to fall apart from bouncing around because it’s come off the bead of the wheel/rim. And I’d it’s a recap tire, well, don’t even get me started on recaps vs. virgins.
My wife and I were 19 when we saw this in theaters and trust me when I say this was one of the best date movies of all-time. The tension, both sexual and action, was 10 out of 10.
This is soooo wild seeing people who have not seen Speed. Speed is one of the most memorable watches from my childhood! Definitely made me fall in love with action thrillers.
This was a good time!!!! Such a thrill ride of a film. Love Sandra and Keanu. It was so much fun revisiting this film with you guys.
