Peter Cullen's Optimus voice is just an impression of his Vietnam vet older brother, who advised him to play as Optimus as "strong enough to be gentle." Peter said his brother was exactly that, so he copied him

In the theater, there was a loud cheer when Optimus took his truck form for the first time.
Michael Bay completely brought the kid out in everyone through this movie.
Honesty I really appreciate how real and authentic these films were and looked in the mid 2000’s compared to what we get now

I might be completely wrong, but I read somewhere that they actually tried to get the Beetle for the movie, but VW would not let them use it.
Also read that Bay didnt want to use a Beetle as it would mean having to make Bumblebee smaller when compared to the other characters, and also because it reminded him of the Herbie car.
Then again, havent found an actual verified article that confirms this, so its more speculation.

One thing you should note.... That YELLOW 🟡 2017 Camero was BRAND SPANKING NEW, RIGHT OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE AND THEY ALLOWED BAY TO DEBUT IT IN THIS MOVIE... It's so brand new they didn't even cut a hand cup for the doors yet... Shia LaBeouf was extremely nervous about driving it to....

What TRANSFORMERS brought in Chevrolet was a HUGE BOOST in the Automotive industry.... Now whenever you get the A YELLOW Camero or a BLACK PICKUP TRUCK WITH THE TWO EXAST STACKS, You can get the custom AUTOBOTS SYMBOL on the hood
Pretty cool fact: Optimus Prime's first transformation had around 8000 individually moving parts. In the second movie, there's a character who had so many parts the studios computers burst into flames and exploded trying to render him

Keep in mind that this film happened during the wars in IRAQ after 9/11 and Micheal Bay definitely wanted to "show off" the military... And with a Franchise that has BOTH CARS, AND MILITARY VEHICLES your gonna want some cooperation with the military... So everything you saw with the Troops battling with SCORPINOK (the transformer that looks like a Scorpion 🦂) is 💯% accurate right down the actual STRIKE PACKAGE AIR DROP that Epps called for... What you saw was ACTUALLY HOW OUR MILITARY ORDNANCES operates and I FUCKIN LOVE IT....

Fun Fact: In the commentary Michael Bay said that the scene when the soldiers are trying to call in an air strike on a cell phone but needed a credit card to make the call was based on a TRUE STORY! It was in South America and in the middle of a fire fight the commander on the phone needed one of the other soldiers credit cards to get the call through to central command because their comms were destroyed.
That was also depicted on film in the film "Heartbreak Ridge" with Clint Eastwood as a Marine taking part in the invasion of Panama an actual real world event in history.

It was Grenada for both not South America or Panama. The Clint Eastwood film was in 1986 while Operation Just Cause in Panama was in 1989. The Grenada invasion was in 1983 and was a big part of the film.

It doesn't matter how many times I've seen the movie, the scene with Optimus and the other Autobots arriving on Earth will always give me the good kind of chills.
Little backstory: Since I was born in 1991, I didn't get to grow up with Peter Cullen as the voice of Optimus. In 2001, my first exposure to the Transformers universe was through the series Robots In Disguise, with a voice actor named Neil Kaplan providing the voice of Optimus Prime. Then from there it went to the Unicron trilogy with Gary Chaulk as the voice of Optimus. I didn't get to fully bask in the glory of the Autobot Supreme Commander until this movie came out in 2007. I have a profound appreciation for what Peter Cullen has brought to the table in the world of the Transformers. Between the live action movies (4 and 5 are horrible), and the Transformers Prime series. He is forever my favorite voice actor for Optimus Prime. I just hope I get to meet him one day before he inevitably passes.

There’s aspects of the last knight that I like, but the movie overall is bad, I do enjoy the four other bay films, though bumblebee blows them all out of the water in terms of writing

So yeah the cybertronians are alien life that happens to be mechanical. They’re fully sentient/sapient with a society and culture of their own. These movies make the Decepticons mostly monsters but they’re all people that come in a variety of shapes because of their alien physiology, some even look like animals.
Yeah I forgot how many factions there are, but I think it's like 12 different ones. Decepticons and Autobots are just two of them.

Yeah it all started with then just being normal people, but then the war. Its often depicted that other races absolutely hate cybertronians and believe they are monster because they have been fighting for 5 million year, bringing destruction to every planet they end up on.
Insecticons and the beast ect
The first one, in my opinion despite it's flaws was a masterpiece in cinema for the time. I didn't get to watch it on the big screen, but I'm jealous of the people that did. It's such a fun movie experience, and this movie is a great introduction to the transformers universe, which has so much to offer in entertainment
The fact they got the tv series OG voice actor for Optimus Prime for the movies was kid nostalgia
Growing up in the 80s, live action Transformers was the dream for so many people my age. But logically....even as a 5/6 year old...I knew that it was, technologically/financially, impossible. People who've always known nothing but CGI effects being available just can't understand. I remember seeing Jurassic Park in 1993. The first thing I thought (besides THAT WAS AWESOME) was "could Transformers actually be possible before long?" If anyone wonders why some of us really like the Bay movies (except for The Last Knight). It really is a hell of a thing to see something happen that you once knew was not possible..

That’s one thing the first trilogy did that I loved. That’s how the US Military formed a great bond with the auto bots through all 3 movies. They stepped on that part in #4
I remember when my mom took me and my uncle (her youngest brother) to go see this movie in theaters back in 2007. This movie is what made me fall in love with the franchise. (I was 9 years old at the time, I turned 10 that fall.)
(My first introduction to the Transformers franchise was with the 1986 movie.)
Not to complain but why would the editors not include the freeway chase and fight and Optimus arriving at the battle hero shot??? Just weird to leave out those two huge moments in the film.
And they missed the whole lake scene and Sam driving Mikaela home.

I don't usually put two posts in the comments section but I have to say...as a Transformers fan all the way back to 1984...it cannot be overstated how great it was that they actually had the sense to get Peter Cullen back as the voice of Optimus Prime. That's the X factor that really made this work for us. It really was like seeing the exact character we grew up watching come to life. Hearing that same voice come booming out of a mega budget blockbuster Transformers movie was pure joy. I can honestly say if they hadn't done that it wouldn't have felt true. Also Bumblebee is alright and everything but you gotta watch at least the next three because my actual second favorite autobot (second only to Optimus) is in the fourth one. He should have had a bigger part in the movies overall but just the fact we got that character in live action at all blows me away so, I'll take what I can get..

Part 2’s Production got caught-up in the Hollywood Writers’ Strike, hence the drop in quality.
Well all Transformers have different sizes, even in their Protoforms... So they have to find the vehicle or device that closely matches size and shape of how they would have looked on Cybertron.

If I remember correctly, Megatron is voiced by Hugo Weaving, aka Agent Smith and Elrond, from The Matrix and Lord of the Rings.

I really would like to see them watch bumblebee. Its my favorite of this franchise, has the best use of transformations, most heart and is by far the most complete film to me. Great reaction as always, much love Steph and Kristen!
And the visuals are so crisp and readable! Bumblebee movie feels like Travis Knight's direct commentary on Michael Bay ineptitude at telling story with clear images - fight between Bumblebee and the first Decepticon (I forgot the name) is a visual masterpiece compared to Bumblebee vs Barricade first fight, impeccable sense of style of the second and third Decepticon feels like making fun of all Bay's Decepticons being silver/gray, something the girls point out to, and so on. Movies are not books. You don't tell a story with words. You do it with images - and Bay's style is equivalent of writing a book that contains only exclamations and expletives.
All Michael Bay movies have 2 things in common.
Explosions.

So I just rewatched this movie last week and found a big issue. So that small Deceptacon when close to the cube became infused with enough energon to fully repair right? Then why didn’t it fix Bee’s voice box?

Ngl. Haven't watched Disturbia in a while, but it was (at the time) surprisingly, scary and tense seeing it in theaters upon release. I was in high school around that time. Loved that movie!
And of course Transformers absolutely BLEW MY MIND with the top tier CGI during all the fight scenes and transformations. Optimus Prime is such a great leader! Motivational speech talent unmatched!
As someone joining the USAF with the chance of being assigned to an AC-130J, the CAS scene in the desert gets my blood pumping like crazy 🤣

The Transformers was an early 80's Saturday morning cartoon and my son was 3 years old and they had toys that were the characters and I got my son one of them and he could take that thing and transform it into the different shapes that it could do. I tried and failed. He had the knack for it. I never watched the animated one but this movie sure took it to another level

Fun fact: the little guys some of the decepticons "squirt out" are called minicons, they're like little minions/pets/partners in crime, they normaly transform into weapons or in a way that they can be transported by their partners, the little guy was called Frenzy, who was partnered with Barricade (police car), and the scorpion is called Scorponok, who is partnered with Blackout (helicopter)

The movie is fun on its own, but re-watching with the gals was much more fun!
What really sets this one apart from the rest of this franchise is that the Transformers look and feel a lot more real. They have weight to them and it really shows how even a single one is a threat to humans and takes a lot to take down.
Yes watch all of them, some people aren’t fans of the middle ones but with that said they are still a lot of fun to watch

Fun fact: This movie was shot in Detroit Michigan Autobots Motorcity also was shot in LA but in every Transformers movie just about was shot in Detroit and another city. Except for the newest one. Awesome reaction ladies
I watched the cartoon in the 80's religiously. Then there was the animated movie in 1986 (I think). When I saw this in theaters, I lost my mind when the first Decepticon (Blackout) transformed because it was the first "live action" version of the Transformers and it was almost like watching a real Transformer transform right in front of my eyes.

Shia is one of great method actor at this time. The fact that he always bring "real" in acting , genuinely connects audience to the movie, even though most of it just computer generated . Also he an excellent choice for MC as Bay likes doing "extra" here and there in every of his movie. Seriously, there are always over the top , extra , chaotic mess in his approach of directing
