My favorite scene from episode 2 was the zoom out scene of Ellie in front of the burning capitol building while “Allowed to be Happy” was playing in the background. So beautiful, yet depressing. It gave me the message that life in TLOU can never be happy, and at the same time, reminding me of the road ahead of Ellie in TLOU part II. Also, Ellie looked so smol 🥺😭 she might seem fierce and tried to be strong but she’s still just 14, trying to process Tess’ death and couldn’t move on, while Joel did so immediately.
Episode 2 was a wild ride! Absolutely loved the opening, love how they are adding to the backstory, to what was happening during the first days of the disaster. All the recreated scenes were amazing. Clickers are freakin awesome of course and I loved the lil frog's performance xD
I knew this show was gonna be great when they revealed it was going to HBO but even I didn’t think it would be this excellent, I love the changes they’ve made, it really works great with the original story.
Yeah the museum scene was amazing! I felt the tension and man, the Clickers were so amazing!! One change from the game to the tv I think they made was making the clickers much harder to kill. Also, making the fungus inter-connected made it even more terrifying and I didn't think that was possible. One thing I am a tad surprised about is how neither Joel or Ellie has used a brick or bottle to distract the Infected. I could see that not working on a person in the series, but on the Infected? Sure. Overall I am estatic about this show because it is absolutely doing the game justice.
Thank you for confirming my love for this story and characters. It’s been an honor to share this story with friends and family who think I’m a bit overzealous with all the details. Appreciate your view and feedback!
I realmente loved the scene of Joel reloading his gun with the clicker sound in the background... Jesus, that was terrifying hahaha Thanks for the video, Wolf! Looking forward to your analysis on episode 3 :)
Totally thought the door creak was a clicker when I watched it. And my favorite part was the piano frog! Actual video game wise, the look and movement of the clickers was spot on. Bella really knows how to portray fear!
So happy you're posting your thoughts!! You always have a keen eye and ear for details and i love catching up on what I missed! I also appreciate that you mentioned the under credited Bruce Straley. Really hope some Justice or credit can be given to him as well.
My favorite part was the frog (toad?) playing the piano! Such wonderful serialism composition! 😆 It reminded me of catching toads at my grandmother's house and bringing them inside even though I wasn't supposed to. I even let them hop around on the piano!!! In all seriousness, I've had faith in this show ever since HBO revealed the production team. And it managed to exceed my high expectations. The changes from the game are purposeful and they add to the story in beautiful ways. I feel like I'm back in a familiar place, but I'm able to peek behind a few curtains now. 💕
@@WolfofThorns I know real life's keeping you super busy these days, but I've been selfishly hoping for some HBO TLOU content from you. Masterfully articulated as always! Can't wait for tonight's episode!!!!!! 😁
In my opinion this show has been doing the game’s justice so far, as a long time fab of the games I’ve loved every second of both episodes but if i put myself in the shoes of someone who isn’t familiar with tlou universe this show is brilliant at explaining everything with detail. I can’t wait for the next episode, my only complaint with HBO is that they need to release everything at once cos the wait is killing me haha
***small game spoiler My BIGGEST criticism is that it seems they're moving away from the toxic fumes from the cordascepes(?) in-game. I liked that idea a lot, and it really sold me on my first playthrough that Ellie was immune. I'm hoping they show this in the next episode
I’m just so glad the show is great. I’ve been nervous about it since the announcement and they have completely blown me away so far. I can’t wait to get to Bill on Sunday.
Just watched the first two episodes with my girlfriend this evening. Oh my goodness I loved it and she enjoyed it too which is great! Can't wait to watch more, that revolver scene is flipping terrifying.
Woops, forgot to leave a comment haha While I enjoyed the action and the long awaited introduction of the clickers (it was awesome), I'd say I enjoyed more the character moments between the 3. Especially Ellie's and Joel's conversation. I need to know how you got from Texas to Boston Joel!! But yeah, I really like this new take on the characters and they are really growing on me 👀 Also, 'Allowed to be happy' played at the end of the episode! Didn't expect them to grab OST from TLOU2 too, but that's awesome! I'm not ready for tonight's episode 😭😭
Great video! You probably already listened to it, but the last of us podcast hosted by Troy Baker adreessed the creative decision behind the kiss and as someone who wasnt sure at first, I gotta say after listening to it that it makes a lot more sense and I'm glad they went in this different direction.
It took me a day or two the really warm up to the little differences they made, and now I'm definitely excited to see the new lore. I am also so thrilled that people who don't play games are still getting to experience this amazing story. I haven't been looking into the tiny nods to the game because for the first watch, I just want to enjoy the story. I am thriving on the obvious nods to the game though. I'll have to rewatch the episodes to catch all the tiny details. As always, I love hearing your thoughts on the matter, Dan!
I'll be fascinated to know what the experience of fans are who watch the show first, then play the games. How will things to feel to them. I'm actually quite fascinated to know.
Yea the infected killing Tess makes more sense than FEDRA in the context of the show. In the game FEDRA makes more sense because I think they kill like three of them and escape while being chased. In the show its just the one guy and nobody even knows its them or where they went. Also, it gives a good chance to introduce the new lore about how the infected are all connected. I find the changes they made for the show to all be very carefully thought out so far and to this point I agree with the changes and in some instances think what they have done is even better than the game.
The details you miss on just one watch. Spotted that little look Tess gives Joel as he's wrapping her ankle in tape. By that stage she's been bitten, knows she hasn't got long and sometime soon is going to have to tell him.
if you look closely at her coat in that scene you see there is blood on it. Also, she makes sure to walk ahead of them and keep her distance in case she turns.
@@red2977 Interesting. I took it she was desperate to get to the court house as quickly as possible and was trying to get them moving without raising suspicion. As she gets closer she gets more and more frantic.
Episode 2 got me so excited! The final reveal of the clickers made my heart race. Been a long a$$ time since a TV series made me feel all these emotions.

I love how Ellie isn't just used for comic relief. We see real emotion in her face and what she says and doesn't say shows a lot of hidden sadness

Nice little surprise that they used 'Allowed to be Happy' from the Part2 score
I love that we are "allowed to be happy" with the music choices 🥁
Honestly so glad to see you back talking about the show and game we all love so much

I was so tense during the clicker scene knowing full well what the outcome was gonna be. Well done.
RUclips needs clicker emojis so I can appropriately respond here.

I really like the confirmation of the flour/baked good theory we had going
