This made me emotional, today marks a year since my dad passed. He loved autumn and the spooky season. And I remember him taking me to buy my first sims game as a kid.

This got me crying. Lost my dad 2 years ago and the battle for the will is real when people have no morals.
I cried, too. Like, really, the death of sims isn't "sad" as much as it is frustrating when it's accidental (thank God for mods).. but this legit adds so much more realism and definitely seems to have the potential to add some real feels to the life/death meaning of sim existence.. I am sorry for your loss, and I wish healing for you.
Don’t do a will. Do a trust. It keeps your estate out of the courts.

Honestly, I’ve never had any of my sims die of old age before. I always cheat to extend their life or play a new save. Because it’s just too anticlimactic!! But this seems like it makes saying goodbye more emotional yet slightly satisfying and I really like that!
I agree, I don’t think the way elders die in sims currently is really realistic, usually old people just slip away in there sleep
Absolutely! My worlds are crowded with Elders. At least now I can let some of them go and know that their relatives won't forget them and that they can actually see them again (if necessary). I wasn't sure until right this moment, but I actually like this and will most likely be downloading it.
Same, all of my sims are immortal and most of them never age so basically I have Young/Adult sims who have grandchildren and great grandchildren
Yeah, I think I'm actually going to let my sims die now. I think I may actually enjoy having them go set up a will and pick out their casket, etc. And then being able to play them on pass death and turn them into a creepy, malevolent ghost if I want or finish their unfinished business they had on Earth before they can finally move on. This is going to be excellent.

The pack is triggering trauma response in my case🥲,(but still buying it for the items😖).. can't deal well with the part where soul leaves body.- & the memories part.- irl lost so many family members. Still never dealt properly with it even years later, & to this day always played with aging off & reset saved game if a sim dies.😔

I lost my grandma a couple months ago and I haven’t been coping well. She lived with us most of my life and helped take care of us while both of our parents were working so I kinda saw her as my third parent. This trailer definitely made me emotional and made me want to hug her again, and this might sound silly but I think this might help me get closure with her death so that I could see her again and let go myself instead of through my parents while she was in the hospital.

@@Akira_of_the_Fae It reminded me Windenburg but a lot sunnier! I also noticed one of the first buildings had damaged roof tiles, and I hope that's a feature that can be used on all tiles! I really like the look of old, decrepit buildings and I hope Maxis adds more Build/Buy that replicates that look

After all this time, EA finally gets the joy of death in the Sims 4. Please allow us to have graveyards, funerals and the afterlife special neighborhood just like how they have a special neighborhood for Alien Sims, Sixam.

As someone who has always “avoided” having sims die (not playing them after they are an elder), this actually feels like it gives that life stage more purpose and storytelling in the SIMS. Surprised by my reaction to this.

Sims team. That was way too personal! My dad passed away on Christmas day 2 years ago now. I had tears in my eyes when she was remembering all the times with him and when he came back as a ghost to say bye. I have literal chills all over. Great job, team!

My granny left Thanksgiving 2018.
My daughter saw my dad after he passed. She was very young but holds that memory dear. The ghost visiting her at the grave brought tears to my eyes.
My parents have both been dead for nearly ten years now, still seeing this made me emotional too. 😢 I’m glad we can finally have a proper mourning period for them.

I DON'T think this pack will have zombies, guys. The new survey they put out for possible future expansions has an "Overgrown Post Apocalyptic World" as an option. They wouldn't attach and lock zombies behind a grim reaper pack when they already have ideas for a world perfect for zombies. This EP will probably be centered around ghosts, cemeteries, funerals, a reaper career, and Grim.
Sims 3 style cemetaries would be great. you know the ones where all the dead go and you can get the headstones out of the mausoleum to place and maybe even resurrect. If you have the magic add on you can already resurrect but only if you are in posession of the head stone or urn, and they are usually lost in space so to speak....

All the comments are only talking about the death portion of the expansion. The expansion is called LIFE and DEATH. Wonder what life options were getting.
It's kind of hard to imagine what the life part would be other than resurrection (which means coming back to life after death), since that's kind of what the rewards seems to be pushing on us with the whole ambrosia quest. Especially since everyone seems to be talking about the Grim Reaper/death part more. However I suppose there could probably be more than just making an expansion pack about bringing people back from the dead. Maybe they might expand on the whole resurrection thing? Improve it? Make it more unique? Perhaps make a world that's "dead" where we bring the entire thing back to life? It really is harder to think about what the "life" part would be in life and death.
@@fairytypemiku The resurrection thing you talk about, ambrosia already exists and The Reaper wants to know if it will mess with its job or not. And also we have the wishing well so we can bring ghosts back to life. I wonder if it is not about a new NPC that will represent life x_x or maybe we get zombies if resurrection does not work !

For the "life" portion they would ideally add an age group so that kids don't turn into adults immediately upon aging up. I get that it is a teen but the shift is staggering. It is really creepy IMO.
@@kelly-bo-belly so like pre-teen? There's already a mod for that, and I like how the mod does it. They require you to use lotion sometimes (and not just on the pre-teens), and you can use deodorant, which makes the game a little realistic for me. If the sims team adds pre-teens, I doubt it'll come with those features. However I would like an in-game version for CAS anyway, because why not?

I almost cried watching this trailer, I've never been so anxious for an EP like this. My dad recently passed, so I got really emotional, and eager to play. Maybe through the game I can process some things.

I read the blog post and OMG, with the exception of zombies, the pack is literally adding everything I've seen people request the pack include. Also side note, but imo this is the best pack reveal trailer since the Get to Work - City Living era.
@@cy_you In the trailer sure, but in the blog post we're getting: Reaper Career, Undertaker Career (with Mortician and Funeral Director branches), Revamped Ghosts, Wills, Funerals/Memorials, Improved Grief, Bucket Lists, and Tarot Cards. The only things I've seen that people wanted and aren't being included are zombies, and a netherworld (but it does sounds like one of the neighborhoods in the world is heavily netherworld themed so there's that).
Edit: And that doesn't even include other things like the Death by Murder of Crows/Crow Perch, Thanatology skill, all of the MANY festivals that will occur in the world, etc. As long as the execution of the pack is good (which let's be honest, it'll be buggy) this will be one of the biggest packs for TS4 in terms of things to do.

But also, have never been so hyped for a pack. I thought my excitement enduced rabies for Horse Ranch and Werewolves was bad but this is a new level of I WANT IT. I also feel like this will pair nicely with other packs. Specifically Paranormal and Vampires. Plenty of spooky things to do and build.

Dear EA, we fans need a MUSIC expansion pack - a fully fleshed-out career for singers, bands, instrumentalists (drums, harp, flute etc.), concerts, music competitions, because we want to create our own musical idols! Could we please get the ability to create different stages for musicians, concert tours? This was in The Sims 3... I won't even mention cars... If you also want a music expansion pack, please write about it in the EA survey and in the comments below.

I was thinking something very similar. It would be nice to have professional musicians during weddings, and gatherings other than just the piano. Their pushing the same woke cr*p like with the latest expansion pack, is getting tiresome! All it does is break the current game and pushes ideals that people don't agree with. Hunting down the sims to change them into what is acceptable to the player gets old.

I agree for everything except the perpetual twilight since we have that in vampire and werewolves, even if they are game packs and not game expansions and 12 lots would be like Newcrest, I don't really believe that it will happen but let's hope so !!!!
@@legina Moonwood mill is only 5 lots and is not perpetual twilight. The vampire world is the only world with perpetual twilight, and if I remember correctly, there are only 4 lots. I want a larger world in perpetual twilight with foggy sinister vibes. At least 12 lots for an expansion world is actually pretty standard (cottage living, lovestruck, growing together, horse ranch, highschool years, etc.).

Obsessed with the more darker stories encouraged with this pack and the idea of darker themes in the sims in general tbh, I understand the global market and the positive vibes with the audience but I’m obsessed with this considering we have some darker packs already. I think it’s important too for games like this to go deeper, life isn’t always a cake walk but it’s a hell of a ride along the way!

Love the creativity! This is something a lot of simmers have vaguely talked about wanting, but not really in any specific form, so it's a great idea for an Expansion Pack. Especially the ability to play as the Grim Reaper, which has been a goal of modders and let's players for a long time now, so I'm glad to see it finally in the game.

I’m actually glad this pack looks like it won’t have anything to do with zombies and instead expand on ghosts. I don’t want repeats of what happened with occults that were introduced in expansion packs, because they suck and lack depth.
But funerals and graveyards are finally gonna be a thing. Cool. I’m expecting to see dead Sims standing up/glitching out of their coffins during the funerals and the funerals to work the same way My Wedding Stories did. Meaning, broken as hell.
Aside from all that, I do like the aesthetics of this pack, nice to have more gothic/macabre elements other than just the Vampires pack.
We just not gunna mention the dude pouring one for the homie at a funeral inside the building 😂.

Things I noticed in this trailer: Ghost Cow Plant in a picture, fortune teller, Grim Reaper career, the Grim Reaper mentions Ghost Powers and Unfinished Business, which means more depth to ghosts, it seems. Also its seems like reincarnation at the end with the infant.

At the end it feels like the pack is hinting at rebirth? He goes because he finished his business and then 'embrace what's next' with a baby!? so excited either way!

I'll be honest and say I got emotional with this trailer 🥺 this is such an unique pack! It's definitely not one that I imagine will attract a lot of people, even though it does allow players to make funerals be a proper event now, but I appreciate the several ideas that were included to make it about exploring life and death!
