Even more heart wrenching is her “I’ve never asked you … to feel the way I felt,” and him avoiding giving the relationship a name to others (Ellie, Bill)… Tess Deserved Better
Really love how this is going. The scientist is so good. "....bomb the city...take me home one last time...." Knew that Tess had to bite it at some point, still didn't want it. Really need shotguns for these "zombie" worlds, shotguns, and tough leather gauntlets. Ellie is perfect, I'm just imagining her sassing Mando. Feels like a blend of Mano and Andor, reluctant hero, transporting a child, building on the people and the world. Tess is like Joel's Marva. Would you rather see Mando escort Ellie or Joel find Grogu? Kinda want a mash up with Avatar where the fungus infects Pandora.
Lol, I'm imagining Joel encountering an alien species like Grogu after everything else the poor man has endured, and I'm worried he'd have a mental snap lol
I really kinda feel like Tess was already beginning to lose control there. Like the fungus was already affecting her ability to fight what was happening.
Yeah she was IIRC there’s a shot before she gets into the Capitol building where her hand is shaking because she’s getting sicker and doesn’t have full control over herself anymore
Such an effective awesome cold open. Great acting by the woman and the general. It borderline brought me to tears and definitely ran shivers up my back.
Both episodes thus far have put out stellar original content for their openings. I'm quite happy as a fan of the original story to see them dig deep into the roots of the plot.
That's where you can see that they care about this show. They could've just said hey lets just throw out a casting call for some cheap random Indonesian looking person to fill that role because hey they're only going to be used for a few minutes at the beginning of the episode so whatever. But they cared.

The cooked meat of a sandwich will not spoil after only one day. It will dry out more than anything. Lettuce or something like that will get wilted, but still edible. I doubt they have anything like mayonnaise in that world, which WOULD be a problem to be left out.
Thanks to this episode, I now know how scary it is when the freaking scientist doctor lady says "bomb" This somehow feels very realistic in this particular case. Thanks as always for your reactions! 🥰
Claroos is right about the way Tess's death plays out in the game. Idk what other people Nerdy is referring to unless he means that Fedra is still chasing them. Also the hotel scene occurs in the game in Pittsburg after Bill's town
Cooked chicken is fine for a day or two, like beef. Salmonella isn’t an issue for cooked chicken. But if she has any other sandwiches, she may as well share, since she won’t get through them before they spoil. As far as the last two Star Wars prequels being missed, I feel like it would’ve been worth the outbreak to erase those from existence.
I've left many chicken sandwiches half eaten and finished them in the morning and never once gotten sick from them. As long as they were properly cooked to start with I very much doubt it's an issue. Never has been for me at least.
Cordycepts are a natural phenomenon in the insect world that keeps the insect populations from overwhelming all the other insect populations. They are specialized for one particular species of insect and have one singular focus, to affect the nervous system of the host and maneuver the host to the top of the highest landmark or tree to spread its spores as far and wide as possible before consuming the host entirely.
with the way each episode shows the origin of the cordyceps, i hope they also show patient 0 and how he/she originally got it from. this is actually so awesome and gives more depth to the game itself.

Cooked chicken isn't raw chicken. You do realize that after it has been cooked, the only way that chicken has salmonella is if it comes in contact *with* salmonella.

Just FYI, zombies are the undead (the dead brought back to life) TLOU infected are different in the fact they don't die when they become infected. The real horror is they are fully conscious of what is happening, but they can no longer control their bodies. But, it's people running around biting each other so the mass audience watching just labels them zombies; while those of us who appreciate how much detail and work Neil Drukmann did in creating this world get frustrated when people keep calling them zombies. And lastly, how many zombies have you seen are blind and use echo-location? (Or, another type that is coming later but I won't spoil here)
Another great reaction guys. I love that you are trying so hard to avoid spoiling the game. Though, as good a job as the show is doing so far, there won't be much to spoil. I know how this is probably going to sound, but I'm going to say it anyway. This is the first TV show in a long time that has me this excited. The opening scene was, to me, the best part. The dawning realization of the mycologist as she basically passes a death sentence on herself and her family, along with the rest of the city felt "real". The clickers and Tess's "kiss of death"... perfection, in the nastiest way. As for the changes from the game... personally, I've loved all of them so far. I haven't seen anything that was left out that made me go "Why the hell did they take that out/change it.", or "Why the heck are they wasting time with this?" for the added scenes. It's all felt really consistent, in a good way.
👀 tess scene had me shook, I was wondering , "why?". 🤣 why was this scene necessary to show. I feel like I was the only one confused why they decided to show that. Then I started thinking about it more, and I'm thinking , they setting up the fungi as the flood in halo. Where is it intelligent. It knew she was in the stage where she was nearly in control. The runners didn't even run her direction on purpose. Maybe If tess failed in turning on the lighter, the fungi would have known where Joel and Eli went and chased them down. So in a way, made her sacrifice dire for their survival💀 I might be giving them (the writers) more credit but that make sense why they didn't just attack tess to speed up the infection process. Really enjoying this series so far, I love the additions to the existing story and so far changes they made. Excited for the 3rd episode
I love all of the actors cast for the show, but this Indonesian lady showed more acting in that short intro, than the entire cast through both episodes. I heard she's a local star and I didn't verify this, but I believe it 100%. :)
Nerdy's comment regarding Star Wars reminded me of a cool theme from a previous manga by the creator of Chainsaw Man. It's not a big spoiler, rather one of the motivations of one of the characters who may or may not be a vilain. The motivation of this immortal person to act, is to recreate human civilization after the apocalypse to the point of being able to create a sequel to Star Wars.
gosh, a chicken sandwich will not go bad within 24 hrs in a backpack! have you ever gone camping? been outdoors? we did all the time, with sandwiches wrapped in paper : )
It strikes me that this is kind of closer to book WWZ than the movie was, with all the compelling stories from various characters building into a global story of collapse.
I dont play the game but both episodes have been phenomenal so far. I have cried and been terrified watching both episodes. Can't wait for the 3rd episode.
I'm guessing that folks will be rethinking their kombucha from now on. And they were only there for a few hours. The sandwich wouldn't go bad in a few hours. By that logic, if you pack a kids lunch for school in the morning by the time they eat it at lunch it'll be bad. It won't be. And neither would Ellie's sandwich.
I agree with the commentary at the end and I would like to add that it hit close because I think if things would have been worse then even more extreme measures would have been laid down, especially because most of the measures the west put were taken directly from how china was handling it.
A chicken sandwich will not do much damage in a day lol. Especially a processed one like we usually have. Have you seen how long it takes McDonald's food to go bad?
Cooked chicken is totally fine after a day. It will just be a bit dry. It's no different to other meat. You want to be careful not to digest raw / undercooked chicken meat.
Just so were clear Nerdy, if the virus hit End of Sept 2003. The last wheel of time book would have been Crossroads of Twilight. So I think that would have beat the other "tragedies". (Btw if we follow game alternate timeline of outbreak Ppl got all of wheel of time :))

But, it's people running around biting each other so the mass audience watching just labels them zombies; while those of us who appreciate how much detail and work Neil Drukmann did in creating this world get frustrated when people keep calling them zombies. And lastly, how many zombies have you seen are blind and use echo-location? (Or, another type that is coming later but I won't spoil here)
Just a thought....Cordyceps are used in Medications and food......
Christine Hakim for 75th Primetime Emmy's Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series !!!
3:30 There are no zombies in The Last of Us. People don't come back from the dead. They are infected, but they stay dead once they die.
It's funny to me how much I'm learning about fungi over the course of watching the show and reactions to it.
That last zombie was a French fellow i see
They did clickers to perfection..coulda been cheesy af but was blooming anxiety inducing 🤣😭
19:27 Nice shooting Tess, you killed that wall :D
In The Last Of Us universe One Piece will never have an ending 😢But the good news is Twitter doesn't exist or any social media 🙂
Worst. On-screen. Kiss. EVER.
I'm loving Ellie's sarcastic humor, and loving Bella Ramsey's performance!
The origin story here slapped.. ties in to that 1960s segment .its so creepy 🤣😭 very quick segway yet very powerful
Imdb got the title one day after the previous episode…for example the third episode is named "long long time".
After seeing this episode I promised myself I would never be scared again. It makes you weak and it gets you killed quick
Fear is what keeps you alive and out of dangerous situations. Cowardice might be closer to what you mean
The opening flashbacks look straight out of Chernobyl
Having an infected hord show up makes much more sense then fedra showing up at the last minute
Indonesian was under dictatorship back in 2003. That way people are tense in the restaurant
gosh, a chicken sandwich will not go bad within 24 hrs in a backpack! have you ever gone camping? been outdoors? we did all the time, with sandwiches wrapped in paper : )
Lady at the beginning is a soldier! Salute! Heres what you have to do, and I'll go down with the ship!
The Indonesian lady is a very senior actress here, she is really that good :)
still wish to see anna torv to be in full 1 season though
Reminds me of my first kiss. Life has not been kind 🤢. C'est la vie!
I love "im ClaROOS" the sound of it is so warming.
It strikes me that this is kind of closer to book WWZ than the movie was, with all the compelling stories from various characters building into a global story of collapse.
Definitely a contender for MTV's Movie and TV Award for Best Kiss. Earth-shaking! Explosive!
Stellar episode of television and loved every second of your reaction !!
"i have to commend the composer... the score has been so perfect"
well its the same composer from the games so
With your young stomach's. You don't have IBS 😂
Your nails look like you just ate Cheetos lol
I eat things that are out for a day depending on what it is. I know I shouldn't but in that world they probably all do.
A chicken sandwich will not do much damage in a day lol. Especially a processed one like we usually have. Have you seen how long it takes McDonald's food to go bad?
The trendils came out of a lady just like Enoki mushrooms. I would never eat enoki mushrooms again 😂😂
Cooked chicken is totally fine after a day. It will just be a bit dry. It's no different to other meat. You want to be careful not to digest raw / undercooked chicken meat.
'Ding! Ding!' 🛎
Fun fact the clickers voice actors are the same from the game
Never played the game and I am loving it
This show is doing for zombies what Game of Thrones did for fantasy. That's HIGH praise.
Without spoiling how it happens in the game, Tess does die off screen. We only hear gunshots but don't see anything
Weird I remember it being more traumatic than that, I keep meaning to replay it and I need to make that a priority
@@NerdyNightly I mean it's very traumatic but we just don't see it actually go down, we just know it's happening and are incredibly sad
Just so were clear Nerdy, if the virus hit End of Sept 2003. The last wheel of time book would have been Crossroads of Twilight. So I think that would have beat the other "tragedies". (Btw if we follow game alternate timeline of outbreak Ppl got all of wheel of time :))
I do believe that the cordycep can't infect people if they are already dead. Don't quote me on this lol
