Hey! This came up as a recommended video for me and I'm really glad it did, because I used to watch your videos back when you had your other channel! I had a quick look at your first new video from a few months ago to make sure you were the same person, and you mentioned that the reason you took a break was because of your mental health. I just wanna let you know that when you had your old channel, your videos were a huge help to me while I was going through my own mental health struggles a couple of years ago, so I'm really happy that you're back, and feeling a lot better! Also really happy that you're reacting to this as it's based on one of my all time favourite video games :)

Also, fun little fact: Merle Dandridge, who played Marlene in this episode, also played the character in the game. So, she's got ten years of playing that character under her belt.

Show is easily the most faithful adaptation of a video game I've ever seen, it's pretty incredible. The sequence in the car is almost a shot for shot remake of the scene in the game, and many iconic lines and shots are being pulled from the game. Casting is also perfect with Pedro Pascal being the perfect Joel. Even the intro song is the same as the game. Show basically adds content and backstory since the game is experienced almost entirely from Joel's perspective.

This is going to be such a great series to watch you react to! This was such a great start! Thank you! And by the way, Joel may have attacked the guard without even realizing it, as he was having a flashback. People who have gone through the trauma of violence can sometimes get flashbacks that include a physical element as well. Joel does not have the luxury of a therapist to help mitigate these episodes, and the trauma was well written and acted! When he looked at his hands afterwards, it was almost as if he was coming to the realization of what had just happened.
Bella Ramsey who plays Ellie also played Lady Mormont on Game of Thrones. So Lady Mormont for the win.

The thing that happened to you at the beginning (mistaking Sarah for Ellie) basically happened to me as well when I first played the game. However, I wasn't alone. My friend was there with me (it was his Playstation) and I said something along the lines of "Wait... I thought his daughter was a redhead?" and looked over for confirmation...
That look on his face... I will never forget it. It told me EVERYTHING I needed to know about Sarah's fate...
... and I still wasn't ready when it happened. T.T

I have not played the game, I don't have the appropriate consoles for it. But I have watched a couple playthroughs of the entire first game and one playthrough of the entire second game.
FEDRA (government forces) aren't the ones blowing everything up, that would be the Fireflies, the resistance. The warning to clear the area came after the explosion because FEDRA didn't know the explosion was going to happen, so it's an alert to get out of the area of the Firefly bombing, because things ma y not be over.
If you look at the note from the book of hits, 60 nothing, 70s new stuff, 80s x Above that you will see B/F (Bill / Frank?)
Sarah got his watch fixed for him because he never would do it for himself. I've heard people say it was broken when the soldier shot at them and they fell down the hill, which would mean it stopped the minute she was shot in.
Ellie is the new Grogu! hehehe

I played the game twice and the show is a very faithful adaptation so far.
The escape from Austin is particularly close to the game. I think it’s really good so far.
This matches up to the game really well. Subtle changes to only enhance elements of the game and to better adapt it.
Sarah and the dog’s relationship lasted almost as long as our relationship with sarah 😆
I agree with your point about weekly episode releases. I think that, if an entire season is dropped in one day, it can be more easily forgotten, and leave a much smaller impact.
(Also, fun fact about The Last of Us: Merle Dandridge, the actress who plays Marlene in the show, is, to the best of my knowledge, the only actor who reprises their role from the game.)

BTW the soldier was following an illegal order when he shot Sarah. It might happen in real life but it is definitely a no no that would get him court martialed so not that common. This is military not the local cops.
I do have a pet peeve, Sarah didn't "pass" she was brutally shot to death. She died. It's not a taboo swear word - death
Who was going to court martial the soldier? People were dying and turning at a high rate. Social Structure broke down quickly.

i honestly felt this TV series was a massive disappointment compared to the games...no director can honestly say they did the story justice if they claim they told us everything in like 9 episodes...there are 2 whole games and one has DLC and both have a much longer playtime than these episodes. the exploration and detail of the games could never be replicated in ONLY 9 episodes...now if the TV series was like 50 episodes...i might believe some justice was done...but i feel a lot fell short. Yes i have seen them...but even in the first episode i can see inaccurate details: Sarah is not mixed race (half black) in the game and she doesn't have dark hair...in the game she is blonde with blue eyes...if you ask me this is just another example of modern TV shows trying to cater to ethnic minority groups and being like "oh let' put her in to show we aren't discounting them".
