    In the United States, both team & single drivers can split their off-duty time into two periods....watch the video to learn how!!
    This stipulation can only be taken in a truck with a sleeper birth unit. The 8-consecutive hours must be taken in the sleeper birth. The 2-hours can be taken either off-duty or in the sleeper birth.
    If you understand the pattern, you will do this correctly - learn about the 14-hour & 22-hour work window here! Learning how to split off-duty time is also for Canadian team drivers running into the States.

    I appreiciate you teaching on how to be compliant in our logs , but this has to be the most complex, confusing , rules in the trucking industry , thank you for the information that you provided

    In the team Drive can we drive every 4h? Like I drive 4h and my co-driver 4h, until 11h ?.

      Well yes, you could split it however you chose, but you wouldn’t be driving long enough to get the seven hour minimum for split sleeper rule to reset the other’s hours.

      As per US FMCSA rule book
      § 393.76 Sleeper berths.
      (a) Dimensions-(1) Size. A sleeper berth must be at least the following size:
      Date of installation on motor vehicle: After September 30, 1975
      Length measured on centerline of longitudinal axis (inches): 75
      Width measured on centerline of transverse axis (inches): 24
      Height measured from highest point of top of mat- tress: 24 inches

    What if the team drivers are delivering RV's with sleeping areas? Can it serve the same as a sleeping area in a truck?

      Hi Lib: thank you for your comment and query. Are you driving the RV, or is the RV being towed? If the RV is being towed, I suspect they would view it like a trailer, and then I suspect not. If you're driving the RV, then I suspect they would simply look at the unit like bunk on a truck. I think that would be a specific question for the DOT at the weigh scale - and I would ask a couple of them. If the unit is stopped while you're sleeping, then I don't think that would be an issue at all. Let me know how it turns out. All the best, Cheers Rick

      Thanks for responding. It would be a drive away class C RV delivery from manufacturer to the RV dealer.

      @@libhopper single vehicle RV’s could log sleeper time. If using a towed trailer as a bunk, couldn’t log as sleeper, but off duty is fair game.

    Ok, I own my rig, and I thinking of having two logs for more loads. Is that possible? As a owner operator. As an owner I am subjective to any load I can grad. If I have two log books, then I can keep running. What is your thoughts????

      Possible, absolutely. Though for obvious legal reasons, I haven’t been shown how to get creative with colouring books (I either didn’t need to run them, ran legal, or had a Qualcomm). Dr August would also be unlikely to elaborate on creative logging.
      But it is absolutely possible, though with increased e-log mandates, compliance, and enforcement, it’s getting harder.

    Hello, I was wondering what the approved legal measurements of the sleeper berth is?

I don't believe there is a legal measurement, but it has to be something that you can comfortably lie down on - it can't be jury rigged in the cab.     The 8 hour SB rule simply freezes your 14 hour on duty clock. It doesn’t reset it.
