They were going to fine me $500 for falsification etc. I asked them what the fine was for no log book $300. I wanted to throw the book in the trash and save $200. 2 hours later they let me go . Another time I had an air compressor chained to my flatbed. The port officer wanted the bill of sale for the value so he could tax me. Fi ally after 3 hours of bullcrap id had enough. I asked whats maximum charge for a million dollar equipment . $24 dollars. So frustrating.

How to prevent violations as a truck driver? Avoid problematic scales. I Avoid one scale and choose to take the route that involves passing 2 because the 2 never inspects. The one I was going through always finds something, everytime. Fairfield, Ca.
why test the turn signals separately instead of 4 ways on for pre trip walk around? Pigtail connection on trailer you've never hauled might not be properly wired. Seen it first hand - right is left and left is right. 4 way only walk around would never catch that.
How about highways and bridges that dont match height, almost loose your teeth or dentures on some of these severe bumps. Also , highway severe bumps that are either ignored for a extended amount of time, or poorly repaired but as long as highway department puts up bump signs, thats perfectly ok.

The truck passed a DMV VIN inspection in the state where it is registered but a neighboring state has turned it into a legal matter.

How can they when we have a nation of tax charging slave drivers selling the training which is 3rd world and wrong. The god damn human trafficking ads youtube and facebook keeps showing needs to stop. When the employed are charging to train the unemployed is when we know society has failed coworkers. Human labor trafficking is when people train unemployed people rather than training their hired employed coworkers. The state governors need sued for their human labor trafficking of the American people. The political plaintiffs need to have the English dictionary rewritten so that the definitions of the words commercial and commerce say - unemployed license holders who are denied the federal minimum wage with no commercial place of employment to go on such a license and the unemployed individuals are expected to pay out of their own pocket for training to operate commercial equipment because it is no longer a commercial companies job to safely train employees on how to safely operate the equipment needed to sustain a commercial business. OSHA and the unions have been doing this crap too where they are charging unemployed individuals outside of workplaces for training and calling that progress to safety when unemployed individuals not even hired are being taught how to do a job by people not even employed by the job their showing how to do can't be safe. How is a bunch of private schools with teachers claiming to be commercial that charge money to show unemployed individuals how to do work for some other company they themselves have not been hired by in anyway safe? Commercial license are unconstitutional and the tax charging politicians need sued for their misclassification of unemployed individuals that do not match the definition of the words commercial nor commerce to be holding nor training for such a license without commercial employment of the federal minimum wage or commercial ownership of a business. To meet commercial standard a person must be being compensated the federal minimum wage. The feds called it the minimum wage because it is not the option wage which is why all license and training claiming to be commercial should be shut down and sued for the federal minimum wage to meet the minimum definition of commercial and commerce trading rather than only meeting the definition of slave driving and human labor trafficking. A commercial company name needs to go on commercial license to verify the workers been properly trained to operate the companies equipment rather than having a bunch of human labor traffickers failing to meet the federal minimum wage training uncompensated slaves and selling them license like tax charging enemies. Do the judges think the military ought to do like civilian businesses and take the company name off the license since it is no longer companies problem to sign off on properly training personnel to operate the equipment needed to operate a company to satisfy human labor traffickers in the ranks so they can be tax chargers selling the training. Just start charging the folks 5-10,000 plus dollars to attend basic training to learn how to serve war general George Washington's oath of issue because basic training is a school to good for the tax charging enemies not to sell like the tax charging police forces charge to attend their private ran police academies to learn how to serve tax charging politicians within the separate state political cartels? Why do yous think one county cartel prosecutes for stuff in their courts that ain't even a law in another county cartel courts and vice versa. The United States with their separate cartel pig forces has grown far foreign from being united to the oath of our constitution that we are no different than any corrupted 3rd world nation up in war with ourselves. It would be to easy for we the people to fix all these political messes of lawlessness. We would be paying taxes on our oath of issue out the end of barrels in lead and copper exchanges to the unholy tax chargers not yet shot dead full of holes. If the war vets fought and died for separate state tax chargers to tax fine and fee war general George Washington's troops then they would have called the nation the SSA Separate States of America rather United States with an oath of issue that has been hijacked by tax charging criminals within the ranks. The 3rd amendment even says to take our second and take quarters as soldiers since peace time of our war general George Washington's oath of issue has been infiltrated by unholy tax charging commies taxing our hard earned incomes away to uncompensated slavery. The founding fathers knew the unholy separate state cartel tax oppressors can go tax and enslave God when they die which is why we have the 2nd amendment to stop peoples thievery of the monetary system that caused all this ununited enslaved tyranny. Where did all the political thieves and their police cartels of today ever get the idea their oath is to tax everybody's hard earned money away rather than being united civil servants where local goes to county and county goes to state and state goes to the country command in Washington to receive their issue rather than being a bunch of treasonous criminals stealing our hard earned incomes away like god damn slaves. This oath to corruption like we have today within the ranks that have to collect the peoples hard earned income away as tax to fund their corrupted police forces that serves the people slavery since they no longer serve an oath of issue to otherwise fund themselves laying down the law in the Capital where war general George Washington the Commander in Chief head banker responsible for the oath of issue once lived is criminal tax charging treason theft of the people and not a government. ruclips.net/video/YN0e0RC3Zu0/видео.html

While he says he wouldn't violate a driver for them not working, he clearly said earlier on in the video that ALL manufactured lights and signals must work or else possible violations would ensue....sounds to me like they pick and choose what they want to hold against a driver and much of it has to do with their knowledge or lack thereof about what's standard manufactured issued and what isn't. #ignoranceisnoexcuse

I remember being young, dumb, and ambitious when I was 18 and still thought the world was fair. I called up the state police police to ask about what was required to make my one truck lawn business legal, DOT numbers, etc. I talked to a DOT sergeant who laughed in my face and said, "look son, we can go down to the chevy dealer and pick any truck on the showroom floor, and I can find $20,000 worth of tickets, you're better off not even trying."
This guy really needs to re read the lighting section again. Only required lights are required to work. Any additional lighting is not required to work. If your wondering which lights are required are under 393.11
I wonder how many of those dot’s would still have a job if they were inspecting regular vehicles like this. This also proves that inspections aren’t primarily made for safety.
I drove for 45 years I had tickets from the DOT and neither one of them was about safety all they said it was but it didn’t have anything to do with it it just the officer needed a ticket and that’s what he did one I would stop you don’t have enough straps on your load Well yes I do know I said OK I’ll I’ll throw a couple more stabs shit OK oh the county officer wants to talk to you so I go around the truck. He’s right now to take it already. OK I got the ticket they left I got in the truck and I left. I did not throw one belt, so you tell me it was about safety no it wasn’t so I have many many examples of DOT officers needing tickets to pump up their whatever yes there is some real blatant things that go on on trucks and drivers should see but I still say the same thing like an owner operator had on his truck everybody’s piggy bank and that’s exactly what it is

I had a DOT inspector in Banning CA try to put me out of service because my airbags didn't inflate fast enough. I asked him to recite to me where the time it takes to allow my airbags to inflate. He came back a few minutes later and jusk told me have a good weekend and let me go
As a trucker, yes I get it some guys have a really bad truck or trailer and it’s very noticeable, but when we are empty and the truck and trailer are in good noticeably good shape, why the inspection? In those two hours at least 10 tucks in bad shape and load it drive by
I have been a truck driver since 2004 and have seen very few drivers doing a good pre trip or post trip inspection on their trucks.
Oh they never do... I do what I can in the time crunch but honestly I don't think anyone is paid to do a pre trip to the standard that is set...
Shut your mouth.you snitch and btch.......
I've been driving since 91 and I assure you, I don't do every step of the pretrip. Tires oil and let's ride..the doors were on when I parked the fuel tank wasn't dragging..tf else?
To busy racing the DOT 14 HR clock, apparently you weren't around before that change. Typical slave always making excuses for gov incompetence. DOT DEPARTMENT OF THIEVES
@@fishy2939 Do you actually drive a truck?
Never seen DOT kick a tire. His attitude does not give me the warm and fuzzies.
I for one do not like aluminum flatbed trailers because the aluminum stake pockets and welds are far weaker then steel stake pockets🤷🏿♂️
You can't prevent violations or being pulled in, if they want to ticket you they will and if they wanna pull you around back they will. You could have the safest, cleanest rig on the road and they will still find something. Run at night or dodge the scales.
I had a couple of clean inspections, and they wrote it was level 2, but they did the same things as level 1 inspection
He missed 2 things, Current inspections for tractor and trailer, and locking pins for the rear axle that slides on the trailer.
That flatbed didn't have sliding tandems.
How to prevent violations as a truck driver?
Avoid problematic scales.
I Avoid one scale and choose to take the route that involves passing 2 because the 2 never inspects. The one I was going through always finds something, everytime. Fairfield, Ca.
I got dinged once over a flat plate on the catwalk.
The random cinematic background fight music is a nice touch.
why test the turn signals separately instead of 4 ways on for pre trip walk around? Pigtail connection on trailer you've never hauled might not be properly wired. Seen it first hand - right is left and left is right. 4 way only walk around would never catch that.
How about highways and bridges that dont match height, almost loose your teeth or dentures on some of these severe bumps. Also , highway severe bumps that are either ignored for a extended amount of time, or poorly repaired but as long as highway department puts up bump signs, thats perfectly ok.
Good vid! Been running for 3+ years now and I still take time out to get refreshed on the rules and regulations. Safe runs are always the best runs!
Ok. But how do I prevent getting violated by the DOT as a truck driver? 🤔
A Lawyer. Look into CDL legal protection plans. They are like $30/mo and have a 95% dismissal rate on citations... You do see a lot of people calling them scams. However, that's usually the 5% who truly deserved their citations.
Chaffed. That is why we have pogo sticks. I'm a 30 years licensed mechanic in Canada and I can't tell you how many times I've seen this. Somehow the driver's don't see it but being at the back of the cab where the driver should have seen it on the pretrip. Not any disrespect to the slightest just saying that I have seen it time and time again.👍🇨🇦
Any violations is a violation of DOT contract. When can an organization demand you to contract with them?
This guy knows how air brakes work. A air leak would slowly apply brakes for safety. Fix the roads so there vehicle safe. Worried about a air line over the condition of the roads is absolutely crazy shit.
Great instructor
This particular inspectors perception of "adequately secured" versus another or other inspectors perceptions of " adequately secured " versus an actual standard(s) or rule(s) of what " adequate securement " is ALL DIFFER, and these differences are what screw up drivers csa's etc etc
I see this truck has the VIN # applied to the outside of the truck. Is there a legal requirement how and where it needs to be displayed?
I drive a truck that has a VIN sticker on the door jam, but also has a partially missing sticker on the door. Is this illegal?
The truck passed a DMV VIN inspection in the state where it is registered but a neighboring state has turned it into a legal matter.
I'm not a truck driver but it's obvious that the inspector has room to fine for anything that he wants lol. This sounds like scam to me. These technical violations should be written black and white no room for interpretation.
I had woman inspector in Washington state tell me she had me oos because i had brake fluid on my brakes 😂told her please write that up her boss came out of weigh station told her please dont write that up
Here in the UK all trucks & trailer have to have your level 1 every 10 weeks.
Washington State dose not allow anything strapped to the deck plate on the frame of the tractor.
the only way to not get a ticket from a dot revenue person. is never let them within 100 yards of your truck.
there job is to get money for there district.
they will find a problem. even if they make it them selves. or change there wording to make it so.
yes there are trucks with very bad problems. but any machine running as hard as a truck does over the increasing piss pore roads there will always be a problem showing up.
now if the states would really spend the tax moneys collected for road repairs. on the roads. NOT “ other” projects.
A revenue bot.
Drivers are not being taught the right way
How can they when we have a nation of tax charging slave drivers selling the training which is 3rd world and wrong.
????? For you ! I've seen many O/O That are OTR which is the main line. They will customize their trailers and trucks with extra lights. I had some customs done to my rig and trailer. They say whatever light even if you install it or it's manufactured that it must be working. 🤔 If the manufactured light is working and they felt that that was the minimal standard for highway safety. What's the damn difference if one of my personal lights has happened to go out? Then being wrote up for it. Hope this message doesn't seem to Short, just an issue that seems to be a loophole to that standard effect. How would you reply?
If a dot inspection scares you, either fix your junk or park it.
Or run at night like a real trucker!
I don’t need the DOT doing my job for me.
@@Solitaryman70 Run by the scales at night with the lights out.🤣
@@maxpuppy96 , Actually, there hardly open at night anymore, the only States that are surprisingly open sometimes are North Carolina, Virginia, and Kentucky…
@@Solitaryman70you’re the reason we have the dot. I’m from Kentucky see how that works out for you.
@@andrewhatton1606 See how what works out?
I retired in Jun, 2022!!! ⛳️🏌🏻fourrrrr!!
They should go inspected the roads and report it
Remember, DOT inspectors don’t get into this because they care about safety, they do it because it’s a cushy state job with great benefits, a little bit of petty power, and a nice retirement
10:05 good luck to those guys with 20 tail lights on the back of the trailer.
Quick tip if your carrier has a shop mechanic tell him to seperate all brake lines electric lines off of anything rubbing on each other. You will thank me later
😂 what are you going to bribe him with to get him to do his job.
@jameskerrigan2997 that's a good one
38 years trukin, Sir can you speak on " driver cooperates and very respectful", yet DOT officer/State Trooper is still a jerk with a pissed off attitude?
Its almost miracles to make it from A to B in state of Indiana without some serious damage to the truck or tralier due to rough and broken pavement,
Didn't hear him say anything about inspecting high beams 🤔 Is that not a requirement?
They put my driver oos twice in less than 24hr over 2 brake hoses shafting, there was no fiber out. First DOT didn't put on the report it was supposed to be both hoses replace. Roadside assistant came to replace the issueand we were good to go. After 10 hrs same weight station pulled him over and another dot find the hose next to it shaft so they put him OOS again. Truck passed everything brake test. This has cause my safety score to go high and i lost my job. Over a freaking hose after i work hard to keep my job. Now nobody wants to hire my co.pany smh i cant even fight the case because they didn't give us a fine
Damn man so how did this situation play out for you? Did you ever get hired again
Has anyone checked with a DOT regarding _sailboat fuel_ being a legitimate cargo type on a bill of lading or no? 🤔 What about screen doors for submarines?
Sadly there is no way to avoid violations someone will warn u or u will get & both will go on your record + today's Drivers know nothing about these pre-post trips he is showing & all Rigs have mechanical issues only if DOT finds them so PRE-TRIP & Happy Trails 🚛 🙏
Wait til they come in with that big ole bat and handicap your ass.
Here in NYS they have some of the highest taxes in the nation, WORST ROADS and they charge you for driving on those roads and use DOT, state police to extort even more. It's criminal.
@ 13:00 the inspector is informed about the high Sleeper lights being a standard manufactured light from Western Star.
What section of the codes says a driver has to do all this to incriminate himself
What type of lines are they painting on the roads now
Bet every new truck off the line would fail a DOT inspection.
Most Drivers today barely due a Pre or Post Trip Inspection. Hook up and go.....sad
Bro i got inspected there I65 they always open. They dont play. They always looking at your truck. I started taking taking I57 lol. Its always an old guy checking i once got inspected by the woman and that old dude. I always pass but i avoid at all cost lol😅
This is question to any police officer and trooper is this responsibility to a truck drivers to replace them parts or is it up to the owner of the truck ???
The owner but they may tell you drive it or go find another place to work. In the end though when you fail to pass inspection all fees and fines are the responsibility of the driver as he/she is the one behind the wheel.
He didn't check the ubolts on the headache rack
Brake test is part of all three levels of inspection
Nope.. level 3 is DRIVER ONLY. As in you are wearing your seatbelt, are awake, and your logbook is updated and legal..
Thank you. Most helpful.
Noticed at the end he didn’t say the consequence if neither the buzzer or light doesn’t come on… OOS
How to avoid officers who are just looking to harass drivers? And that they don’t know what they’re looking for?
Drove 18 wheeler 12 years most of the time i drove thru indiana had dot inspection in that state.
Weight stations open 24/7
Indiana sucks
I remember being young, dumb, and ambitious when I was 18 and still thought the world was fair. I called up the state police police to ask about what was required to make my one truck lawn business legal, DOT numbers, etc. I talked to a DOT sergeant who laughed in my face and said, "look son, we can go down to the chevy dealer and pick any truck on the showroom floor, and I can find $20,000 worth of tickets, you're better off not even trying."
They say it's all about safety! If that's true then they shouldn't charge U the money! It's all about the $$$$.
My truck was purdy fast but it ain't never popped no willy
This guy really needs to re read the lighting section again. Only required lights are required to work. Any additional lighting is not required to work. If your wondering which lights are required are under 393.11
I wonder how many of those dot’s would still have a job if they were inspecting regular vehicles like this. This also proves that inspections aren’t primarily made for safety.
How bout blue or green or purple or pink marker lights ?????
i'm a super trucker and dot only shakes hands with me 🤡 and ask for autographs
He forgot to check the white backup / reverse lights. 😮
Fantastic video!
Can you point me to the death training facility sir

The whole I 70 in indiana, especially between Ohio and indiana, can damage even any newer truck easily if that truck goes over i70 again and again
A very nice oil job ,
Congratulations!!!🎉
Leaks, kinks, cuts, cracks or abrasions.
I’m surprised he didn’t ask to see the Dot medical card in any of the inspections levels.
Well I would hope not... It's been 9 years since the FMCSA required drivers to carry a hard copy.
This is all common sense
I drove for 45 years I had tickets from the DOT and neither one of them was about safety all they said it was but it didn’t have anything to do with it it just the officer needed a ticket and that’s what he did one I would stop you don’t have enough straps on your load Well yes I do know I said OK I’ll I’ll throw a couple more stabs shit OK oh the county officer wants to talk to you so I go around the truck. He’s right now to take it already. OK I got the ticket they left I got in the truck and I left. I did not throw one belt, so you tell me it was about safety no it wasn’t so I have many many examples of DOT officers needing tickets to pump up their whatever yes there is some real blatant things that go on on trucks and drivers should see but I still say the same thing like an owner operator had on his truck everybody’s piggy bank and that’s exactly what it is
Where are your papers show me your papers I had a teacher in diesel school from Bulgaria he said when the Nazis came they took all the guns but the shotguns for hunting then they took those then they put up perimeters within perimeters and said where are your papers where are your papers
An officer can make shit up and write you up for it, then YOU NEED to contact a lawyer and then defend yourself and then prove that the cop was lying or being HYPER AGGRESSIVE with violation writing. Notice that ANYTHING can be a violation if the cop believes it is
