  • As a part of our 2024 January safety meeting, Officer Fleming from the Indiana State Police provided our staff and drivers with insight to what DOT officers look for when performing Level 1 DOT Inspections on semi trucks and trailers.
Thank you to Officer Fleming for joining us and making our company even more prepared to make safety a top priority.

Flatbed trucker here- My question would be, on these pre loaded flatbed trailers that are already secured... if our straps or chains are covering a marker light or turn signal light would that be a violation?

Any light can fail at any time. We all know that. Out of service over a light being out is nonsense. Instead of penalizing, it should be about education. Driver should repair/replace the light with one that is required to be carried as a spare.
Fishing...looking for any excuse to do an inspection. That is the game all law enforcement plays.
Hmmm...Officer Fleming....is he kin to Jeff Fleming ? I met Jeff when I hauled for T-U thru Landstar.

No, Officer Fleming has no relation to Jeff Fleming. Jeff is still the President of Trans-United, feel free to swing by our Burns Harbor, IN location to check out the operation any time you're in the area!
