I run my own equipment and after running company equipment that was junk and being told to take it . i dont run anything but my own because of that . take there junk have a problem and its your problem now . buy tires for somebody that ran recap scrap . trucking is a messed up living . Keeping equipment in good shape is not only safer, it's more profitable for the owner.

The DOT are not your friend. They are not there to help you.They have to find stuff to justify their existence.Luckily they have become lazy over the years.10 or 15 years ago most scales where open 24 hours and would do random checks all day . Best way to avoid being pulled in is to have your truck clean on both outside and inside. They do have cameras to look inside of your truck. Also make you that the driver looks clean and alert, sitting up straight etc and avoid scales any time that you can. Also fix your air leaks. They listen for air leaks when you are sitting on scale while they are looking you over and checking out your equips. Remember a majority of these truck cops could not make it as regular or state police so they have something to prove. In general its a good idea to avoid because they aren’t worth going to jail for and they don’t care bout you or your ability to feed your family

Bare license...that is all an overdimensional permit is. It doesn't guarantee any clearances, it only gives permission to attempt to use the named routes. Physically driving the route before the load moves, a route survey, is the best time and money spent.

he seems like a good DOT officer. I haven't met a mean one yet. they have a job to do and my experience with them hasn't been negative.

This particular inspectors perception of "adequately secured" versus another or other inspectors perceptions of " adequately secured " versus an actual standard(s) or rule(s) of what " adequate securement " is ALL DIFFER, and these differences are what screw up drivers csa's etc etc

@ 13:00 the inspector is informed about the high Sleeper lights being a standard manufactured light from Western Star. While he says he wouldn't violate a driver for them not working, he clearly said earlier on in the video that ALL manufactured lights and signals must work or else possible violations would ensue....sounds to me like they pick and choose what they want to hold against a driver and much of it has to do with their knowledge or lack thereof about what's standard manufactured issued and what isn't. #ignoranceisnoexcuse
