I remember meeting Hellhammer once in my teens and the dude had arms and legs thicker than my whole body, that's what a drummer that plays basically _nothing but_ blast beats every song of every gig they play almost has to look because of how much strength and stamina something like that requires.
The amount of time spent at the gym some of the metal drummers I've known is pretty much comparable to semi-professional athletes, and that's on top of the time they spend practicing on the drums 😅

People don't understand that Slipknot's drumming is downright mid-tempo and simple for metal music. Not even to knock Slipknot, but every video I come across that is related to Slipknot drumming, the replies are about how fast and hard it is but like... Wanna listen to more metal? A decent metal drummer (this dude is a really good drummer, but isn't into metal and you can tell he lacks the basic muscle memory for the genre) could pick this song up almost instantly. One or two listens and improv something just as good. A few more and go note-for-note. Hell a few more still and create a drum part far more complex to change the entire dynamic of a very simple song structure.

Jay used to play double bass just like you actually when he first started with the Knot- he's cleaned up his technique so much and his stamina is superb. I'm seeing them in a 2 weeks I'm stoked

Awesome video!!!! You nailed it!!!!! Seeing this gave me an idea for another video. Have a drummer play a song they have never heard before BUT have them play using a Drumeo chart...no practice or rehearsal. Just sit down, open the chart and start playing along. :) Anyway, thanks for doing this! Many props to Ms Santantonio!!!!

Great job! There are many great musicians, and every time they play metal they all say the same thing with widened eyes. There's an art to playing fast, complex, loud and intense music. If it's done right, it's the best.

@@codersexpo1580 I mean, for this music, in specific, he was able to make the cover, but he suffered considerably in the proccess due to the lack of intimacy with doouble pedals.
