The fact that he nailed it on the first take and then added more of his style/personality on the other takes is mind blowing
What makes Gregg even better is he’s one of the best drummers in the world but still humble enough to say wow someone else come up with way better stuff than me
He's not wrong either. the original drum parts are cooler!
It’s insane how I never realised how big the drums were in this song, until heard his rendition and it just changed the whole tone of the song
Right, his version sounds so much more swingy throughout the whole thing. It's strange but cool too
Changed the timing even for me! Especially when singing along with Serj, I realized I was hitting the words more so based off of Dols notes
How can you not realise that? Those original drums carry this whole f'n brilliant song.
This guy is so likable, energetic humble and excited about life... It's inspiring.. hope more people in the world were like him
I feel completely honored just to have seen this guy work in the video. What an artist! Such a humble gentleman.
Good lord, please have this man on weekly. Absolutely incredible personality, enthusiasm, and drummer.
I could literally listen to Gregg reinterpret songs he doesn't know on a daily basis. The dude is straight good vibes and a stone cold killer behind the kit.
The drumming was ass.
@@skinnykid8524 I hope you have a good weekend. ❤️
@@skinnykid8524 no u
Broo, what a professional and positive energy this gentleman has. It is really a pleasure to see someone enjoy what he does so much and do it so well.
This Man has a insane Energy! Probably one of the best “Listening to First Time”
13:55 IS THE BEST OUT OF CONTEXT RED BULL AD EVER.
I absolutely love what he did at 10:04
Same here! That hi-hat work is superb.
I'm no drummer just a fan of music, drums and this series but something about that and the earlier softer snare rolling @ 8:39, seemed understated but somehow profound, arresting.
Really creative
Came here to say exactly this
09:40 was great to0, leading into that second verse
This man has forgotten more about drumming than most will ever learn. True musician’s musician.
Except.... He hasn't forgotten any of it! lol
What do you mean by this?
@@IronFloydianIt's a common expression that means he has so much knowledge of drumming, he could forget a lot of it and would still know more about it than most people ever will. It doesn't mean that he literally forgot things.
@@bw24summit thank you. I saw some people in the comments bashing the drummer and I was hoping OP wasn't
You know what I love about things like this? It’s just great to celebrate great people in this world. We are just capable of so much. We have so much wrong in the world, it’s nice to at least have a break to watch something like this and be able to say “Look at this. Look at the really cool things we can do. Love this channel.
I don't think I stopped smiling for a second watching this, his energy and charisma is infectious!
This is what more people need to realize. Being a working musician isn’t just about being a great, reliable performer; it’s about being someone people want to work with, someone people want to take on tour for months or even years at a time.
A true musician is not only someone who plays his instrument perfectly and fits in with the rest of the band, but also someone who is humble enough to listen, accept and give a smile every time he plays. Gregg, you are the perfect example of that great musician that we all want to emulate.
Man.
This guy is a professional...
Really. Best definition of a session musician that I have ever watchhed
He definitely does NOT need a Red Bull, lol. But I love his enthusiasm and vigor for sure! What a talent!
Gregg drips with professionalism and seems like somebody any artist would want to work with, had so much watching him
Love how he during the listening part just keeps mentioning how cool the real drum part of John is. Just pure appreciation and love for the song and artist
Greggs positive attitude is so incredible. And I love how he's explaining everything he's doing so others can understand. Truly a great human being!
This dude is like ADHD, but cured the AD part, and makes the hyper activity super efficient.
Greg is who people who really have ADHD strive to be. I love this man! Thanks for being so inspiring!!
Dude this is probably the best one yet, dude just kept evolving his part on each take
I like to think that's from being a session musician. You give the original artist and producer a few options, they Cherry pick, then you go back and assemble!
Thanks for accepting the challenge, Gregg 😈😈
man you guys love putting people on the spot. Great stuff! 😄
My guy doesn't know one of the most famous rock songs of the 2000's but IMMEDIATELY knows the drummer's name. I fkin love it! What a great guy.
yeah, and this story is completely true. ;)
It's amazing how much the flow of the song changes.. So an incredible drummer!
It's so fascinating how Gregg interpreted the flow of the song in a more chill way, and it honestly worked really well. It also made me realize how insane Toxicity's general structure actually is. And Gregg himself is just a joy to experience, on top of all that! What a guy!
What an infectious personality. Gregg really reminds me of a uni professor of mine. He didnt teach music he taught MT in computer science but his personality, charisma, passion in his field AND his voice match perfectly.
Probably the best breakdown on drumeo yet. He nailed it in his decipher and on his first take. As stated already, each take he evolved it even further. Gregg is a fantastic drummer!
Nah, look at the one black dude listening to enter the sandman by metallica. Its handsdown the best breakdown ever made! This dude absolutely destroys it! One go and his kills it!! Way better than the original. Sorry Lars 😂
@@janosch7210 For quick reference: He's talking about Larnell Lewis
I love the way he explains, and draws, how he builds the structure of the drum version! Amazing!
I've wanted a SOAD ep and when it finally comes the show is STOLEN by the contagious energy of Gregg Bissonette - what a legend!
14:18 going all in playing Bleed was unexpectedly amazing
He even played it cleanly!
That was incredible hahaha
Once your BRBC (Blood Red Bull Content) is over 0.2%, you'll be able to do it, too.
@@burritoomgredbull gives you leeeeeeeeeeeeeegggssss!!! 😂
cleeeeean ass hertas, would’ve loved to hear him do the whole beat
Just casually does the drum part of Bleed LOL> This guy is awesome.
🤣😂🤣😂🤙🏼
I REALLY hope the man didn’t learn to play that whole song just in case Drumeo threw that one at him lmao
@@frightenedsoul Gregg is the Herta master. He could probably play Bleed if he wanted to.
@@frightenedsoul Silver lining: it's probably good exercise in both the physical and musical senses.
If in doubt, play Bleed
My favorite guest ever. Love how much fun he was actually having, you could tell
That double bass in the chorus @9:16 really changes the feel of that section and I love it!
really accentuates Serj vocal dinamics
Agree sounds so sick
My wife and I had the good fortune to see Gregg perform live as part of The Cream of Clapton Band about 6 weeks ago. Forget about Gregg's drumming skills which are second to none, he's one of the most incredible entertainers. We had a smile on our faces the entire show watching him. Talk about uplifting, inspiring, and infectious! Gregg's got that in spades. He brings a lot of good to the world between his talent and his attitude. One of a kind.
this guy is every drummer put into one
Underrated comment. Gregg is KNOWN for being able to play basically any style at studio-level quality.
Maestro Bissonette...one of must versatile, live, session and cool drummer of all time...a point of view ❤️🎼❤️...blessings.
john dolmayan is a super underrated drummer imo. his rhythmic hooks its what makes SOAD song so memorable. well done to gregg as well for interpreting this style so well!
Gregg is an absolute treasure. Seasoned veteran, played and still plays with the who is who of the music world, amazing energy, great feeling for songs... Fucking nailed this one with his unmatched energy. I love it! His version of the intro/chorus has so much weight and feels so damn heavy.
As a Polish person, that "na zdrowie" (cheers) at 12:19 blew me away.
Unfortunately russians also use this phrase. But I hope he uses it as polish one...
@@deXXXXter2 nope, in this variation its something between Ukrainian and Polish ``cheers``
@@deXXXXter2 when Americans say it when drinking they think they're saying the Russian one but really are doing the Polish cheers.
My mother in law was Polish ancestry. She said something like Nastrovia. We didn't call her Crazy Shirley for nothing.
ngl that perfectly pronounced "Na zdrowie!" took me by surprise 😲
I love this guy's enthusiasm and his joy for the craft.
Greg is a legend, and so is Drumeo for making these series! Absolutely love Greg's take on this one! Thanks for awesome work Drumeo team!
My favorite part is hearing the drummer say, “that was way cooler. I should’ve played it like that” so awesome. Keep it coming Drumeo! 🤘🏽
He's right though - the original is absolutely iconic. Greg's was fun but not as good.
And the fun thing is that he's a beast, and after a couple of listens would have been able to play it perfectly as written.
@@jeffc4862 Man he dont need a nobody like you defending him !!! Moron !!!! he lacked alot off fills in the song ! A little weak ! the bass drum and hi hat and cymbals were good ! but weak in the snare and toms department !
Gregg is national treasure - boundless enthusiasm and humility from one of the most versatile, experienced and well-educated musicians on the planet.
He is a treasure!!! The passion for playing is so obvious ❤ what an incredible thing to witness
My high school band director was cool enough to have Gregg come to our school for a drum clinic.
Gregg was incredibly patient and nice. As you can probably imagine, he put on a super engaging drum clinic
Even the woodwind players loved him!
So cool!
@@vipe650r one cool thing I remember was how he uses his left foot to hit the hi hat pedal AND the left double bass pedal at the same time. He used it to make some unique grooves
@@majicks.musick That kind of creativity is so fantastic to see.
Jesus fucking Christ. I watch all of these. This is top 5 of all drumeo. Incredible
This guy's energy is insane. He clearly loves what he does. Its always so lovely to see. Also being impressed by the original and lovely words of it. Great guy.
