Ulysses is obviously a killer jazz drummer. It's funny how he just can't separate the jazz influence while playing a rock tune. It's so engrained in him like Jazz is part of his soul. Love this Drumeo series!
That's exactly how it is! It's really a relationship to the music. But other musicians have that, too. You grow up listening to something, then playing it for 20 years, and it's ingrained into your being. You remember life events by the music that surrounded them. You hear little snippets in your head while walking around. I think that's what we're all striving for as musicians: to practice something and know it so deeply that it can't _not_ come out in your playing.

His fills are so melodic omg
I love the shared respect and common language that's present between fellow musicians. The reactions from the OG drummers is by far the most interesting and insightful segments in these videos!!
I just want to see Ulysses reaction to the intro to "Come Out and Play". It's one of those that really can't be a play along due to the unique nature of the drum intro, nobody would ever guess how that intro goes.
Great touch to have the original drummer watch the guest drummer - I think I enjoyed that the most.
Ulysses is a total gem of a human and this series is straight dope
He needs to take his genius to Africa and build Wakanda
How can one who loves music not respect all the musicians on this channels! Love to see the talent and creative nature of all the drummers here? Love this series!!!!
This series is the best thing on RUclips. It would be very interesting to watch a pure rock drummer try to play a jazz piece. It might not go as well.
I just wanna say how much I love the overall drumming community. 99% of all are really awesome and inspirational and encouraging. Lets keep it up!
I'm glad that Brandon is open to hearing different interpretations of the song and learning from them, too! ❤
Brandon didnt write it. He replaced the original drummer, ron welty who played this song originally
Love love love this song. Best memories of my older brothers introducing young me to great bands.
Wow!! You can tell the jazz influence in his beats. It's feels like it's offbeat but it somehow fits the structure. I love it! It's different and really opens my eyes to a genre that I wouldn't gravitate towards.
That was such an awesome interpretation of this song. I love how he made the main riff more a crescendo/break at 4:39. So sick
I get more impressed with each video you guys upload. The production, the organization, the planning is unreal. You have a limited time with the artist, to create as many content as possible, and glue together with post reaction with another artist is so well thought. Kuddos for all the production and people behind the camera that make this videos so espetacular, I can't imagine how hard it is to put everything together.
Love how the original drummer was feeling inspired by this take.
Now see, as a fan of hard rock and heavy metal...
This guy nailed it 👏
Some aspects of this are like witnessing the song being reborn. It's amazing.
My bass drum is jealous watching this.
I don’t think I’ve ever kicked that delicately 😂
Love seeing these videos.
I love how consistently wholesome the comments on these videos always are.
A long time ago a great drummer told me a life lesson. If you can play jazz you can play anything. This mans just proof of that. Great video
This channel is so good at showing that amazing musicians live in all scopes of life.
It is not just the popular, nor the avant, not the high resound, not the gutter, not in the pocket all time, ness who follows line, but this show shows those all things are collectively intertwined. The divine rhythm of the metric, the static takes the hectic, the class takes the exit, the soul feeling rested, the music goes on. The music goes on.
