Yup. That initial reveal of Man of Steel, with the Bridge of Khazad-Dum music, and two variants featuring wisdom from Jor-El and Jonathan Kent, and all that imagery evocative of a wholesome rural childhood. It was just perfect in how it established Superman's personality. I was in my early 30s but it moved me in a way that a lot of films until then didn't. And the film itself didn't disappoint. It's just a shame that Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill got shafted by one egomaniac after another at WB and I can understand that Snyder doesn't want to work with WB anymore, even if his life over the past decade seems to have robbed him of any real creative enthusiasm. My daughters love the DCEU films now too, especially Wonder Woman. They don't really share my nostalgia for the Reeve-era Superman films, but that's okay. If you didn't grow up in the 70s/80s with them, they look pretty bad and cheesy nowadays. I get that. Gunn is a genius filmmaker, but the man has a monstrous ego on him, the 2025 film seems to be trying too hard to be too many things to too many people. Just like Josstice League did. Whatever you feel about Man of Steel, it was at the end of day Snyder's and Nolan's unique and uncorrupted artistic vision. The new DCU is pandering to audiences and forum dwellers.

@@tuvu8394 The boom occurs when something travels faster than sound and its actually not a boom, the sound just suddenly increases within few milliseconds.
I love how he starts out jumping and then starts flying. The jumping part is an homage to the Golden Age Superman. The original Superman could only jump over buildings and could lift cars. Then later on the writers kept giving Superman more powers. But I loved that nod. This movie is the hidden gem of superhero movies
Fun Fact: The reason why Superman could fly now is because the animators from the Fleischer Superman cartoons thought it'd be more convenient to just animate him flying instead of just bouncing around with super jump, and they made the flying look amazing. So from then on, Supes could fly, and it's all thanks to those talented animators
You're wrong. Superman jumping in the beginning was simply him learning to fly nothing less nothing more. He couldn't quite figure out how to stay in the air till that final jump. That's why he was simply jumping at first
Came back here to watch again this poetic piece of cinema after the new Superman movie's teaser dropped. Man of Steel is still the best Superman movie and Henry will forever be my Superman

This scene made you FEEL like you were flying with Clark in the sky, the music is a massive part of why you feel this. That is how powerful Zimmer's music is.
Honestly, I really felt a human connection to Clark when he didn't quite know how to fly perfectly right out of the gate. When he realized that he could push past what he thought was his limitations and chuckled up a smile. I felt that. Riding a bike the first time you don't perform like a BMX pro. Even Superman took baby steps. But his baby steps were more like Hulk jumps.
Probably the most human portrayal of him yet. Not knowing all of the answers, having to ask people he knows for them and having to encounter things out of his control even with his powers. There are a few things that I would change, but I love this movie nonetheless for what it is.
The Jumps before he flew... is a callback to Superman's original powers... he didn't fly originally... it's where the saying Superman can leap tall buildings in a single bound... the flying was added later as a convenience for other people telling his story. And you can even see the other Kryptonians leaping around instead of flying, until the battle with Zod near the end of the movie as an escalation.
@@MedalionDS9 That is true man! This is pretty nice that Snyder made that evolution for Kal-El and the rest of the Kryptonians. Like, not even Zod and his henchmen were able to fly due to Krypton having a red sun and making them become weaker like normal humans. The exposure to the Earth's sun is their energy to escalate their powers. Like when Zod was fighting Kal-El and he awoke the heat vision and it was hurting him at first and he didn't know how to control it

Typically Superman tv shows and movies have either covered the days before he put on the suit and/or long after he has been Superman for quite a while. Some couldn’t stand this was a ‘grounded’ take on the first few weeks of Superman being officially Superman, a character learning as much about his origins as his powers and himself. You have to think that outside of the first Iron Man and Doctor Strange the Marvel movies didn’t have much in terms of character arcs. Pretty much the heroes, acquiring a power or ability aside, are the same at the beginning and the end of the films. A slower burn character arc was different and many just didn’t have patience.
@@MegaRayland Not only is that an uneducated response but it is also a stupid one. Say what you want of this movie but don't try to drag down something else entirely to make up for its faults.

Way ahead of its time. I've watched every single MCU movie and been hugely entertained for the most part, but none of them can compare to this, a superhero movie that takes its subject matter and us the audience with the mature seriousness they deserve. This is a superhero movie for adults.
@Yagami Eren Yes, this movie has aged well. It's developed a more popular following years after its release. The very definition of "ahead of its time".

They might have liked it. The 70s weren't incredibly rosey. It could have fit. The ONLY reason superman or batman quit killing people is because of the comics code authority.
When he has that serious look on his face at 2:56 after being all smiles it always gives me chills. He is happy and excited at first but it’s like at that moment he realizes “this is true power and I need to be responsible with it”. People who say Caville is bland and never acted well don’t have the slightest idea what they are talking about
Exactly! I thought I was the only one that noticed the lesson he learned in this scene..he was a bit cocky before he humbled himself and know he has to be responsible
I think that’s cause everyone wanted the Superman they knew. Another version of Christopher Reeves which is what they got in Superman Returns but for some reason people weren’t happy with that either. The problem with Superman and Batman is that every one has a preconceived idea of that character since they have been popular for generations and when you show them in a different perspective people reject it. Marvel was able to pull it off with Iron Man, Thor and Cap cause those were characters nobody cared about before. They were the B List super herd of Marvel which is why they still had the rights to them. They had sold off all the popular characters (Spider-Man, Hulk, X-men & F4). Because of that they were able to take more creative liberties.
Um no. He's literally focusing on where he wants to go, and adjusting his aerodynamics so he can't take steeper turns i guess. But he's definitely not thinking about that at THIS EXACT moment. That would be during his childhood/teen years or while Jor-El's replica was talking to him. AND he's all smile literally on the next frame

@@arishemthejudge6780 Agreed (if you're saying what I think you're saying). There are MANY differences between the MCU and the comics, pretty much ALL of which are due to (in my view absolutely spot-on) artistic decisions by the filmmakers who knew what works on the page might not work on film. In fact, my understanding is that comic Iron Man has actually changed to match RDJ's portrayal, because it works so well. If the DCEU had gone "full Snyder," it would've made comic fans scream (as this film did), but as with the MCU, they'd eventually get on board. Instead, we get a corporate product made by suits who trust focus groups and internet buzz over the artists they hire and hamstring. Again, IF that's what you're saying

This film is shockingly misunderstood and underrated. From the moment Jor-El ventures outside and Zod's forces have begun the insurrection, you know immediately that this film was a labor of love. And Michael Shannon's unending commitment to his role actually makes you want to root for him. And then flash forward to Smallville with the Air-Force scrambling a squadron of A10 warthogs. You sit speechless as these Alien interlopers rip asunder our military industrial complex but the soldiers and airmen do not waver as they fight alongside the man of steel. Even later finally two titans clash and a megalopolis is collateral damge as they hurl blows at one another with Earth shattering strengh. Its a feast for the senses. And it's better than any single one Marvel movie.

"Man of Steel" is not just a movie, it is a true work of art. Every scene, every frame is imbued with the diligence, attention and soul of the creators. This film embodies the philosophical depth and life meanings that are so lacking in modern blockbusters. There are no frivolous jokes and superficial humor - this is a story that makes you think and worry along with the characters. I have been rewatching it for the hundredth time, and it still does not get boring. Each time I discover something new, catch previously elusive details, and again admire the epic moments that take your breath away and immerse you in a state of delight. The epicness of this film is simply off the charts, and while watching it, you feel as if your blood begins to pulse faster. The technical execution is at the highest level. The image quality, special effects, scene dynamics and the finest visual details - all this becomes a real feast for the eyes. The creators did a great job, and the result is perfection that is pleasant to watch again and again. This film is like a fine wine - it only gets better with age. I want to believe that even after many years it will remain relevant and impressive. Special thanks to Hans Zimmer, one of the greatest composers of our time, for his contribution to the creation of this epic atmosphere. His music makes every moment more meaningful and memorable. In the future, I dream of rewatching this film in 4K or even 8K quality, with the maximum frame rate, to fully experience each moment in its technical and artistic perfection.

Gunn is a genius filmmaker, but the man has a monstrous ego on him, the 2025 film seems to be trying too hard to be too many things to too many people. Just like Josstice League did. I love how he starts out jumping and then starts flying. The jumping part is an homage to the Golden Age Superman. The original Superman could only jump over buildings and could lift cars. Then later on the writers kept giving Superman more powers. But I loved that nod. This movie is the hidden gem of superhero movies
Highly underrated film
Fun Fact: The reason why Superman could fly now is because the animators from the Fleischer Superman cartoons thought it'd be more convenient to just animate him flying instead of just bouncing around with super jump, and they made the flying look amazing.
@@MedalionDS9 true dat

@@arishemthejudge6780 Agreed (if you're saying what I think you're saying). There are MANY differences between the MCU and the comics, pretty much ALL of which are due to (in my view absolutely spot-on) artistic decisions by the filmmakers who knew what works on the page might not work on film.

That seriously gets annoying. Seeing people arrogantly say with such confidence, "Zack Snyder's Superman doesn't smile, he's a depressed emotionless emo, he's a murderer and kills people all the time, there's no color". All of those are lies and I somehow agreed with those a few years ago! I'm so thankful I've opened my eyes thanks to a friend

I feel like Rotten Tomatoes should go back to movies that was previously low scored and rewatch. Some movies were just ahead of it's time and this has aged so well.
But i think it's because of Zack Snyder, in every movie he directed they always react them suck, but they shouldn't do it in this badass movie
@@adamcade604 they simply don't understand Zack Snyder
Nothing about Man of Steel was ahead of it's time, it was extremely inspired by it's contemporaries. Critics didn't like this film because of it's poor plotting, over-indulgent writing, and lack of color. This scene's pretty good though. If you like the movie that's fine, but let's stop pretending everything we consider underrated was simply "ahead of it's time" without challenging whether that's true or not.

“Fly son, it’s time” is so much powerful, emotional, and meaningful considering everything Jonathan represents in MoS. He knew his son was an amazing person and he wanted the world to be ready for him. He knew one day he would fly, and the rest of the world would join him in the sun.

I'm gonna say it. The camera work in this movie are magnificent. The sense of speed is just insane.
