@@HeisenPL Yeah, they for sure couldn't do a lot of the same stuff without being sued, but even beyond that it felt like there were more budget constraints on TG that they didn't have on TGT. They are following the bass guitar since the two are strongly linked and they match each other the vast majority of the time. That's how they know how to play along with the entire song. Since the bass cuts out, they assume they aren't supposed to play anything. Obviously they don't always match since a song can lead in/lead out with the bass and no drums and vice versa. That's why they always struggle matching the intro and outro during these "hears for the first time" videos, since that is the one time that the drums can't follow the bass.

Lol ...... yeah the original drummer is just like, staying well out of the way of the other parts, but then the other parts aren't very expansive either. Very spare song. This series ALWAYS results in the drum part becoming larger than in the original song. And for this song in particular the original song seemed to need it. Then again imagine dragons is a wierd band and that's what their fans like about it so, no worries

I love it. Art you rock! Your playing lines up with the lyrics and sounds like you're crashing those cymbals in the clouds like lightening. We're hearing thunder cracking above us from your snares and your bass drum reverberates through us. I enjoyed your passionate, yet measured crescendo, as well.
I love how you recognizes how pop they are. Honestly, when I saw Imagine Dragons live in Sacramento, I felt the drummer was the best quality musician and was giving it his all during that performance. Without him they sound like, "pop. like Taylor Swift, but not Taylor Swift", as Art said.
Imagine Dragons has pop hits on the radio as they are well produced. Live, without a million dollars worth of equipment and editing behind them, we are left with folks with mildly decent musicianship who have the creativity to repeat "thunder 12 times" then say, "lightening and the thunder" as their chorus. It is a memorable hook, as it's repetitious, but not ambitious lyrically in my humble opinion.
