I just happened to buy Scenes From a Memory as my first album of theirs and to this day still consider it the best. That album did not leave my car's cd player for over 1 year straight my senior year. I listened to it over and over without end. The best was when I would pull out of the parking lot on a Friday and it just so happened the last track had just kicked in "Feelin good this Friday afternoon..." I'm 40 now.

The instant creativity and ability to swap between completely different ideas are inspirational. I do not know one thing about music, but I play around with improv acting as a hobby and really do admire the speed and range of his creativity showcased here. There's a lot of multitasking going on in flowing smoothly from one idea to the next. Neither getting stuck with in train of thought, nor getting jumbled with too many ideas at once. To keep that headspace whilst performing requires 100% pressence and a deep rooted technical ability.

I love when Jordan closes his eyes and starts to 'lock in' on what he is hearing. Simply phenomenal.
Lisa, I also LOVE your reactions as well. Proud to be part of the Painote journey.

He does the same stuff like everytime before that. Incline scale or figure on the build up chord. Really nothing special 😅

That sound he went to at the end when jamming with the full track was magical. Jesus Christ that was incredible. And Drumeo just had Portnoy on playing Nickleback! Gonna be amazing those two in the same band again!

Well, it puts context into their playing. I have no problem with it. I don’t take it the same as a “I’m vegan” or “I CrossFit train” etc. It’s more like an explaination as to how and why they listen to and then absolutely shred a piece of music (in a great way). I WISH I had perfect pitch. While I have very good RELATIVE pitch (discerning chord types, intervals etc) I can not 100% instantly and accurately identify any note. In a way that has to be a curse at times if listening to a struggling musicians. lol.

No shame here in admitting I felt emotional watching this. For no other reason than appreciation of seeing a genius and master of his craft do what he loves the most.
It is absolutely a pleasure to watch.

Jordan's capabilities are beyond comprehension. The dude's as good as any human will ever get at the keys. He shreds the keys like Petrucci shreds guitar, and then some!

Jordan practiced quite a bit of guitar during Covid. He's become a decent shredder there too. Not quite like JP but still...
