Hearing he's a jazzdrummer is not the same as seeing a quick snippet. Sure we can google it, but it's a good suggestion for these videos. Just like having the original drummers react, btw
Natural talent. Truly. You can tell he is in his natural element!
Zack is just straight vibes. The best friend I wish I had. His drumming is so smooth and loose. I love it.
Impressive how Zack "understands" the music instantly and comes up with some crazy shit that realy fits well. Love it.
This is hands down my favourite from this series. Amazing.
i always love hearing Zack play with his style over heavier music. it’s so unique. i would love to hear him in a rock or metal band
He played in a band called SLOP back in his hometown, I've got some demos and footy lying around, gonna have to find them tho
As a person who has never heard this song either, Zack did pretty awesome! Loved his grooves
These are amy fave videos from drumeo. Just shows how much the drums can change the feel of a song!
This is amazing! Those ghost notes on the snare are perfectly filling the void of where that second kick is supposed to be.
This is a genius concept. Please never stop. It is so interesting to hear different styles collide and the result of it. Zach is a beast.
Love when drummers figure out certain grooves that they aren't use to. Yet it's beautiful when synchronized. They are hard on themselves 😂👊🙏
I LOVED Zack's version! He interpreted it in ways that no one else can! I like this just as much as the original!!!
4:45 That kick/snare/floor combo was so sick
lol i paused the video to scroll down to make sure someone had already acknowledged this!
seriously
Bonham triplets. I caught that as well. Sick!
Then to follow it up with the linear fill at 4:43 is unreal
Brilliant getting a groover for this song, it's inspiring how jazz grooves are present in metalcore sometimes
I actually prefer his version of the quiet part at 3:50, that hat work is immaculate.
Came to say this. Not gonna say it anymore since you did first
Yes, he did great
I Agree
I actually prefer his version overall... I'm kinda over double bass playing the exact riff pattern every song. His groove let it breathe more.
It is fun to hear a different take, but I like the consistancy and tightness of the original. I would say the most important part of this song is actually the drums.
3:48 absolutely gave me goosebumps, that is so goddamn tight! I've listened to this song probably a few hundred times and this new twist fits perfectly.
This is the best so far of this series🙏 Zack actually made this song sound better which is unheard of, bravo🙌🏻
Them ghost notes... Damn 🤩
Live earing interpretation of songs I know. It's almost like earing it again for the 1st time ^^
The way he created a similar groove with the toms that the original had in double bass was outstanding. I love both versions.
The way that Brandon fixes the Cymbal at 3:33 was so smooth.
those fills was everything, damn he's a beast
3:47 this part is so fucking insane dude. great work!
It's crazy how it literally changes the entire sound of the song, Literally the best drum content on RUclips
Yo can I just say, as someone who loves metal but hasn’t heard this song.. HE KILLED IT.
3:50
dude wtf this is so sick and fits in way better than the original 'nothing'
I'm doing Zack's chops course on Drumeo right now and loving every minute of it
I much prefer this to the constant double pedal tbh 🔥
Considering the fact his playing without the context of the original drum part - this is just amazing...)
I love how Zacks brain works. He’s such a talented drummer. Btw I’m a HUGE Architects fan and I think he had a great interpretation.
This was the best one of these videos that you guys have made, which just goes to show Zack's level of musicianship. Despite being out his element, he wrote a drum part that fit the song well and sounded great.
Zack made it sound natural with single pedal
One of the only drummers I’ve seen on here that actually listens to the song and plays exactly what it needs to match the instruments and vocals! Could easily be the drums to this song also
It's soo cool hearing these drummers' takes on unheard songs. This was like hearing Doomsday again for the very first time. It was such a different feel from the original. Also goes to show how much drums affect a song.
"You can clearly tell I had no idea what I'm doing."
My dude, that groove blew away the original. That made the song so much more interesting. It was amazing.
Ahhh, yeah.. idk about that..
It really did
@@DanielFreakinAwesome2 Don't get me wrong, I like double kicks as much as the next metalhead. But this guy showed how much potential the song had for a more interesting groove than what the original gave us.
@@thefallenmysthe had more groove to it, but if you actually understood the meaning behind this song, you’d understand why it was written to sound like this. Dans twin brother, Tom, the guitarist, was dying of cancer. It’s not suppose to be a groovy upbeat song.
@@Ep0nzGotcha. This was my first time hearing the song at all, so knew nothing about it.
Really dig how the snare’s overtone worked in the verses! Such a great coincidence that Zack picked up on when he heard the space available and knocked off the dampener at 3:51
I didn’t notice that at first, but you’re totally right.
I think he heard the first hit and think "where the heck are my overtones?" hahah
yes yes yes yes
Mann, as a long-time ZackGrooves fan, this is so extremely interesting to watch. Thanks Drumeo!!
I actually like what he did at 4:19 before the first chorus, instead of the silence, he does the crash, HHx3, Stackx4. You still get the quiet with the stack, but it adds some anticipation.
yeah I noticed that. I was like... oooh that caught me off guard. obviously it was an accident in timing as he thought the chorus would come straight in but it actually worked going back to the stack. like you said, the tension/anticipation
The way he dropped into the beat at 6:22 gave me a dopamine rush. My jaw was open the whole way but that was just beautifully timed.
He counted the drop into the second verse perfectly off one listen, between that and the shuffle added to the verses I am in awe
This take was unreal. Found his interpretation to be incredibly tasteful and musical - can’t stop rewatching!
Super impressive for a non-metal drummer/fan who's barely listened to the song! Still sounded great in its own way! Great song choice!!!
Who ever came up with the idea for the this series is seriiusly a genius.
Zack is an actual master of this instrument. Holy god hes just amazing. Totally playing out the fill and using the whole instrument.
These videos really make you appreciate drummers from every genre and style of music.
