Lyrics:
Remember when hell had frozen over?
The cold still burns underneath my skin
The water is rising all around me
And there is nothing left I can give
All these tears I've shed
I saw the wildfire spread
You said you cheated death
But heaven was in my head
They say the good die young
No use in saying what is done is done
'Cos its not enough
And when the night gives way
It's like a brand new doomsday
What will be will be
Every river flows into the sea
But it's never enough
And when the night gives way
Its like like a brand new doomsday
No matter what they say
It's like a brand new doomsday
The embers still glow when I’m sober
The gold in the flame burns brighter now
I have to rebuild now it's over
Maybe now I’m lost I can live
Souls don’t break they bend
But I sometimes forget
I have to do this for you
And the only way out is through
Death is an open door
Words the prophets said
Still swimming through my head
Now theres no stars left in the sky
'Cos this well will never run dry
What if I completely forget?
What if I never accept?
'Cos when you fade away
Its like a brand new doomsday
They say the good die young
No use in saying what is done is done
'Cos its not enough
And when the night gives way
It's like a brand new doomsday
What will be will be
Every river flows into the sea
But it's never enough
And when the night gives way
It's like like a brand new doomsday
No matter what they say
Its like a brand new doomsday

seems more like djent to me idk how they get called metalcore. song is good though i like it.
Can't believe there are hardly any upvoted comments about Tom Searle passing. R.I.P to an innovator of metalcore. Thanks for the amazing songwriting and cutting edge, soulful contribution to music and carrying on for years even with life threatening disease, making amazing songs till the end
it might be because he died before this song came out. prolly more comments on songs he was playing in.
@@texdillinger6173 yeah but didn't Sam say this was one of his last riffs
🫡
Life goes on and is hard enough to not have the luxury to remember all the dead.
4 years ago today. Rest in peace, Tom.
Mine almost five on Christmas day. Love your profile pic bro! Booty boy!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can't believe it's been 4 years. Time where are you running? It's been 4 years...

Tom would be so fucking proud.
Rui Carneiro This is actually a song mostly written by Tom. Must have been hard to finish, but they clearly did a great job.
of course he would!

#Amen!
definitely

Thx for making Tom alive for ever.
Rémi Charliot Tom will always live forever regardless as to whether they continued or not
Yes but they are brave to continue to play for him. Some people will just stop all and they didn't do this.I respect this over all.
Rémi Charliot tbf when I saw them at Brixton academy. I wasn't sure they were going to but I'm so glad they did. Yeah mad respect to them.
I saw them in June at Anger (France) that was so awesome. That was the second time i saw them and the second best concert of my life ^^'. BTW they played with another good band who make a good show too (Northlane).
Rémi Charliot Northlane are awesome!, yeah the show they put on at Brixton was mental that has to be one of the greatest shows from a band I have seen
How heavy and emotional you want this song?
Architects: Yes.
we can make it whatever we want
Best comment, hands down.
One of the catchiest riffs I've ever heard...in any genre.
Can't believe how long I slept on these guys. RIP Tom.
This is genre defining riff... Sadly literally
Check out Low by Wage War. Basically the same riff. I found this song from a video accusing Wage War of copying the riff. Personally I think Wage War did it better.
Novelist FR did it 3 years before this song came out with Gravity. Not 100% the same but it's very easy to see that it's heavily inspired by it. The entire Souvenirs album is a masterpiece.
@@XDarkStrikerX since they lost Matteo, they lost their sound. Sad
@@XDarkStrikerX that Novelists rhythm is much different. Plini is a crazy good guitarist
I lost my Mom last year and I'm 31. This song hits me because of the lyrics but also because she liked this band because of me. I love you Mom. This is for you. You're headbanging in heaven.
Amazing. Max respect.
Are the band members of Architects Christians?
@@mrdavidwlowe I'm not sure.

R.I.P. to her!
His voice is like pure rage mixed with pain, I really love this song.
Such a perfect description!
I cried listening to this song. His voice you can really hear the pain and frustration. He executed his voice so damn perfect
He sings from the true bowels of his soul no doubt
Never have I heard emotion conveyed in a song like in this one. No other song has ever matched it for me. He gave everything in this track
yeah aye that’s architects for ya
My mom and my Dad taught me Metalcore and Metal Music. She died 8 years ago and my dad did suicide with 25. This music is helping me cure my inner feelings and I'm glad I had parents who listened to this kind of music. Without them I wouldn't be what I am today.
Brother hold on! Life is strange and sad but also beautiful, Inshallah! Your moments will come, sooner or later! Hope you find peace with such songs until then..! Much love ❤
sorry to hear that.... stay strong the world needs you cheers!
Keep going for them and for what they made you become 🥰
Judging by their musical taste, they were awesome parents. May they rest in peace...
My condolences.
I just lost my brother on Sunday and he loved your band and music. I play it all in his memory. RIP AJ

Jack Marshall haha yes, awesome idea. I bet Sam would be a bit chuffed, even if he see's people wearing their merch all the time.
tell him in the shower
he should start singing doomsday in the shower and tell Sam about the awesome band "architects" xD
Just drop a dumbbell on his foot.
It will have a great outcome, you will hear his scream irl and it will be great ice-breaker.
What happends after is irrelevant, the main thing is he will notice you :^)
Love the symbolism.
Tom ascending into the universe. A higher plane. Beautiful
Ghost Iris
Was seriously thinking the same thing. This is truly a powerful tune.
Reminded me a bit of The Fountain movie.
Most definitely. Complex, yet amazing movie :)
- Jesper // vocals
The video is actually heavily inspired by the fountain, even recreating most of the scenes in the movie almost exactly. Spoilers below.
The Fountain is about a man who’s wife is dying of cancer. She’s writing a book about the tree of life, and she leaves it to her husband for him to finish. She passes away, and he writes about himself, traveling through space in a spaceship with the Tree of life that holds her soul. He reaches Xibalba, and the tree dies before he even gets there. He realizes that death is inevitable and incurable, and in order to bring her life, he must sacrific himself.
It’s a fantastic movie and I recommend it. I have a whole tat sleeve dedicated to it.
This and Gone with the Wind are peak Architects for me. Especially Gone with the Wind. Such raw emotion, absolutely haunting and so powerful.
Yes 🔥🔥🔥
My 12 year little brother lost his fight with cancer last week and I eventually found my way back to this song recently. I knew the lyrics but didn't understand the meaning until now. One of the hardest things I've ever had to deal with, but at least there's others that know my pain, and there's music to express my feelings. Between this song and Always by KSE, they've been getting me through this.
Jesus man... I cant imagine losing one of my little brothers that young, they're my best friends... dude I cant imagine how much that hurts and I hope you are doing okay... he will always be watching over you just like you no doubt watched over him
Sorry for your loss. Hope you and your family are doing well.
Sorry for your loss
I cant for the life understand how kids get cancer, doesn't make any sense.
Fck cancer, bro
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the growth of this band overtime?! Everytime you think they've reached the peak, they come out with something better. Man, You're making Tom superproud. This is fantastic.
I 100% agree
this album looks set to be even better than A.O.G.H.A.U
ThatBlindGuy247 not an album just one song they decided to realise just to show there is a future for architects...Dan confirmed it on twitter
i love your comment and if i can add to the list of bands that grow overtime i would say August Burns Red deserves to be mentioned too
Artraxast ABR is among the list of bands that keep the flame of the metalcore genre alive for sure

It looks like a tribute for tom. like him rising to the sky and becoming a star. Beautifull.
You are Missed tom.
I believe the song is about not being able to move on after losing someone, as well as the fear of forgetting about that someone now that they are gone. Very heavy stuff as well as very fitting given what happened.
Whole latest album is a tribute to Tom.

I know I could be accused of bias here but this is just utterly amazing.
It really is. You're 100% correct there
Chris Searle what a legend
Papa Architects should be proud.
Chris Searle They have lifted your son up, letting him be free. God bless your family. Greater things will come.
I feel lucky to have been able to follow your sons' music for the past decade. You're so much more lucky to have been right there the whole time. I'm glad to see you're proud. Give Dan a big hug for all of us, yeah?
This was my dad's favorite song I listened to before he passed. He's in a better place now. See you soon my friend
do what you can sorry to hear that
13 years ago I lost my twin sister to a rare blood disorder, she was 20, I'm now 33. Listening to this with the knowledge that Dan and Tom wrote it, and it's release after Tom's passing, feels like emotional therapy for those who've gone through what Dan experienced, and by extension anyone whose lost a twin.
Love those cleans, and damn that chorus is sooo good.
Z La yeah it reminds me "novelist". Go dicover it if you don't know.
Coco Chanel after I read your comment I went to my subscriptions and happened to see the latest one being from dreambound novelists lead the light. They're pretty good.
I went to the post office to receive a parcel from my mother and listened to this song. My tears came from the magnificence of this music. People looked at me like a madman.
Thank you Architects. For all.
Ikr I was listening to it at work in the truck trying not to cry haha
The verse 1:13 - 1:45 is just something else. The drums, the lyrics, Sams notes, the guitar, the ambience and all it means… it always gets to the deepest part of my heart about loss. Thanks Architects for this and every single song you have created. I will forever love you.
I lost my best friend in December to a heroin overdose, he was 28. I miss him like nothing I've ever felt before. This song is fucking incredible. The reality of going the rest of my life before I can see him again makes me feel like I'm breaking. I'm so glad I found this song, it's making me feel and I haven't felt closer to Timmy since he died. I miss and love him endlessly, and fuckin a right this songs gunna be on repeat for a while. Thanks for reading.

Yes this one always hits home
Girlfriend: "Why is the singer screaming like that?"
Me: "He screams for me so I don't have to"
Deeper than i thought it would be
I love this. I’ll never not think about this again
"It's like a brand new Tuesday!"
This comment hits differently
why I find metalcore music calming. They do the raging for me :')
Sam Carter is actually one of the greatest vocalist in modern metal
Julien Assier And he has without a doubt one of the most intense voices I have ever heard.
This guy just nails it on live
TheBoberroV98 Architects is also the most intense live band I've seen up to now. I was standing pretty far away from stage and still felt like 5th row
Uhmmm... not sure about that. Corey Taylor is a monster. I'm sure there are a few more I could mention.
He didn't say he is the greatest, but one of the greatest, so what you're saying doesn't make his point invalid
One of the rare bands i can listen to the entire discography without skiping a single song.
Still a killer hit, sad part is the older you get the more real this song becomes
Death is an open door was on as I read your comment :D yes.
A lot of Architects songs are like that. They are so profound. They really help when life brings you down
I can't be the only one that thinks they reached their peak and can't possibly get any better. Then they release this FUCKIN MAGICAL PIECE OF LITERAL HEAVEN. FUCK. ME. UP. Unbelievable.
Hazel McCormack expect your expectations to be broken, Limits are bound to break
Hazel McCormack I thought they peaked with lflt, then aog came out, I was certain they peaked with that, maybe they have, but there's potential based on this song for a masterpiece
To be fair, this song was partially written by Tom before he passed. I'm still waiting to see what they're capable of without him. I try not to doubt my boys at all, but it's still a possibility that it will be different.
Snooch tbf with Josh in the equation as well, and Dan being there to help Tom on past albums I believe they can write killer instrumentals, my concern was lyrics but I have been shown dans got his twins talent regarding that
Snooch to be fair, Tom is a mastermind at writing music, but Dan and Sam are just as talented, and Josh seems to be close to Tom with writing potential and shredding skills.
Fun fact (for people who didn't know): Jordan Fish of Bring Me The Horizon helped produce this song. Also Nolly (ex-Periphery) sound engineered and mixed this song.
MarkyPaligs makes sense. Glitches I'm guessing?
no wonder they all sound the same. *puke*
Glad to hear BMTH still makes good music lol
@@Wollmammut I think Amo is amazing
And BMTH and Architects are both british bands sooo :)
Watching him transcend with that yell is just pure art. It's so powerful and visually stunning.
I have heard 100s of thousands of songs and never have I heard any vocalist EVER give everything they have. He absolutely put everything he had into this song. You can literally hear every single emotion
then also listen to "god went north" by Nothing More ;) beautiful and haunting song - not to take anything away from this song offcourse, damn.. these feels.
You must to hear "Thing with feathers" from everytime I die
Listen more.
I have said to people many times before, that harsh vocals, when used in the right way, are not only a good sound, but they can convey emotions that clean vocals may not be able to or not as well, this song 100% proves that, the emotion of this song is felt through these harsh vocals, and I dont think they would be so well conveyed with Cleans all the time
They released a piano version with clean vocals. Still portrays the emotions superbly
Rip Tom Searle
Clean vocals or harsh if you just put true emotion to you're music that what truly matters
James Alva amen to that
Pain and anger. No clean vocals will ever convey those two emotions like screaming can.
The chorus almost brought me to fucking tears. I just want to scream along to it. But I'm at work and I'd look like a fucking crazy bitch, screaming and crying in my office cubicle.
Well screaming and crying in the toilet doesn't look better.
YESSSSSSSS DO IT, SHOW THEM. THEY WON'T GET IT BUT THEY SAW IT ;)
MOOOOoD
I decided to do that, i live my emotions, if people disrespect me I shout, if Im sad, i cry, i am a big good looking guy, it is rare that someone disrespects me and it is a long time ago since someone had the balls to laugh about me. I see that most people want to do this, i get more likes that hates for this behaviour, people are coming to me and not moving away, some years ago it was different. We are all fucked up, fucking each other in any way, people got enough of this psychopath bullshit mental desease coming from the USA through the media, spreaded all over the world, fake-psychopath-emotions and showing bleached teeth all the time. Mother nature gave us our emotions as the most important part of communication, but since people talk, they talked every fucking thing to death, every time they find a new word for something, you can be sure it is the death of this, they are talking about freedom? Freedom is dead. They are talking about tolerance? Tolerance is dead. They are talking about courage? Courage is dead. And so on. Let's be humans. Sure you have to know your limits and don't behave just like an angry kid. Sorry for my bad english.
Same
I lost my mother four years ago to renal failure. I discovered this band after her death and bawled the first time I heard this song. The loss, the pain, the rage is overwhelming.
Thank you for this. Thank you for giving a voice to loss and grief.
I'm currently fighting kidney disease and failure. It's not nice I hope she went peacefully brother or sister.
Pure power coming through Dan’s drumming and lyrics.
(Sorry for my long ass comment)
I've been so lucky to have seen Architects live 8 times. I remember this one time they played in Norway on Tom and Dans birthday. As me and my friend walked super early to the venue we met Dan outside. That day was particualarly hard on him (on the whole band really), yet he took the time to chat about tour, life, their music, their fans and their beloved brother Tom. The amount of strength that takes is incredible, and this song proves it even more. With that being said; congratulations on getting married, brother. We are all so proud of you, this band and its members, and of course its legendary music.
For Tom, forever.
(This song was btw 🔥🔥🔥🔥)

Jhan Gaviria
You are wrong there bud, the band never had any lyrical message against the idea of a creator, in fact the last 2 albums had a lot of references to the old testament, who ever wrote the lyrics , was heavily invested in it.
The first time I heard architects was coming home from a guitar lesson in my dads old Yota. We had just had a laugh about how the radio only played the worst heavier music so you’d listen to the mainstream brainwashing. As we joked about about the hosts “architects with doomsday” call out…. The intro riff silenced us. My dad cranked the knob almost instantly. About a year later he surprised me with a concert ticket. I wasn’t a stranger to live shows alone as a young teen-adult. And as powerful as my father has always been, he was nearing his last few crazy shows. I didn’t tell him until last minute. He drove me 3 hours, with the intent to hang out until the show was over and drive home late night. Nah, I bought him a ticket. Got to see Tom shred some of my favorite Riffs. A few years later we had planned to see them again, but Tom passed. And my dad fell very ill. I went to the show alone. A week before my old man left this material world. Holy hell tour was in my top 3 favorite shows of my entire existence. I like to think that my dad was in the vip section with Tom Searle. Annoyingly telling him “my son loves you man he’s down there in the thick of it” and deep in the thick of it I’ll stay for architects 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

This song is amazing and so crisp, I'm so proud that Architects are going to continue as a band.
The music video is insane, the lyrics are so touching and it shows what an absolute legend Tom was. The brotherhood behind Architects is one you want to see in a band.

So much could be said about this videos meanings. But what I like most about Architects (apart from Architects itself), is their fan base. Never saw in my life another band with truest fans. Understanding Architects messages, philosophy and history. I find it rare, and it just embellish the band.
We love Architects and Tom, who rejoined with the universe.

Architects don't have that much space for attacks. They don't have a girly fanbase, like f.e. BMTH, they don't have cringy/immature lyrics and they all mastered their instruments(counting in Sam's vocal cords).
2:41 might be my favorite metalcore moment of all time. Absolutely breathtaking.
Holy crap. I’ve been living under a rock. Kick ass song.
First time I'm hearing Architects. Damn theyre good
same
bruh same
By far the best metalcore band the last 5 years. Their last 2 albums are pure.masterpieces
Just.Another.Guy. Dude Tom (RIP) was the guitarist, Sam is the singer and always has been.
GNR4Alife I would give that honour to Polaris over Architects but man they’re both that fucking good it’s hard to choose
Looks like Epitaph loves Architects. The production on this clip is fucking epic. As well as song itself. Great job guys!
Why would they not ? :p
tellus.aflame who doesn t love them?
tellus.aflame that's because Nolly Get good mixed/produced it !
Architects are at their most successful right now so of course Epitaph is going to drop $ on these guys. Tom would be so proud of how much influence he's had and how many new fans came to appreciate his band. And the production/video is unreal!
I Also thought of that, they must have worked on this video a long while, like hell look at all the the detail in the cgi or what to call it.
That opening riff has lived in my head for the past year and I don't think it's leaving anytime soon, damn.
When you write a riff so amazing that everyone else rips it off. Like I am not the biggest fan of metalcore, but holy crap Architects are friggin amazing
Okay, I can't believe I'm saying this but THANK YOU RUclips ADS! GOOD FUCKING JOB.
TANGINA LUMABAS DIN TO SA RUclips AD KO HAHAHAHAHAH
I really hate when youtube autoplay switches to another band when I listen to something I love but yeah... good job youtube!
I liked a TesseracT song and this one popped up in my recommended section. Thanks RUclips. You're not all the shit i thought you were after all. Maybe just 98% of it.

Epic intro, soft cleans, nice transition... A killer song is made.
one of the best out there
As someone who does a fair amount of poetic writing, I adore the lyrics of this song. "All rivers flow into the sea, but its never enough" Its weird being a whole ass adult and being able to feel the crushing weight of the sentiment. Very powerful stuff.
It's from Ecclesiastes. I recommend it (at least the first part) even if it's taken just as literature or poetry. It's really beautiful in kind of a sad way
This video is absolutely beautiful. The music is amazing, and the visuals are just phenomenal.
Production is on a whole new level
I just realised that it must be so hard for Dan. Every single time he takes a look in the mirror, he will see his own brother's face. :(.
Andrew Lenhard it's also something to be immensely proud of-- not just upset
how are you just gonna assume that.
I'm new here .can you explain what happened?
One of the members passed away, he was the drummers brother he played guitar.
Bro, keep that fucking comment to yourself. Jesus. What are you thinking?
the emotional impact of toms passing will elevate these artists capabilities far beyond anything we'e seen before. they really loved him.
You called it exactly right. The entirety of Holy Hell was filled to the brim with such passion.
Yea, you know them on a personal level, please get the fuck out of my comment section.
@@imnotsmartbutimdumb isn't your comment section stupid
oh is this your girl 2? thanks lol
3:43 How it feels to find new musik that makes goosebumps.
Эта песня даже на 100-ом прослушивании берет за жабры и за самые предвздушия ребёр, покрывает мурашками в припеве! Одна из самых духоподъемных песен, просто Божественно)
Holy fucking shit
Time for a new architects cover ayy? Lol
ayy thats a great idea! Miss your covers Christian
BEST THING EVER TO WAKE UP TO
Can’t believe this song is 3 years old already.
The dark atmosphere and raw emotion in this metal track are captivating.
Lost my father Last month, saw architects last weekend, this song was truly a experience live, Rest in peace dad, I love you
The whole Architect's family hails your Father. May he rest in peace and may calmness and warmness surround you through this path... Much love from France
@@normanrocher3180 thanks a lot man, greetings from México!
I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my dad too 8 months ago. Love from Turkey
Mi mother hate me and yes i love this song and i hate mi mother
Going on 2 years for me. Hang in there brother, it gets better.
Song of the year.
DiTzZ it’s really not
Definitely.
Not by far
Radio 1 Rockest Song of the Year wooo!
I remember the first time architects opened my eyes. It was this song. 3 years ago.
I only started understanding metalcore that day.
That intro gets me everytime. Fucking dope.
The lyrics, the meaning and the visuals in this song/video, makes you feel empty about what death truly means. This is one of my favorite songs ever.
FearlessX7
Death is an open door ❤️
"Death is the road to awe"
Lookup The Fountain, watch it.
@@InanDante Exactly, funny how no one is mentioning that the entire video is based off of The Fountain lol
No one truly dies, we only live on as living beings* in another realm more real from the last.
But all our bleagh have abandoned us (awesome tho)
don't you know? cutie beautiful clean ass vocals are the new bleagh
I legitimately can't tell what peoples' actual opinion of "bleaghs" are, but personally the less the better. I wouldn't mind it so much if it weren't so common. I really like the Architects but that one random ass noise can throw me out of it when I'm thinking about it.
I really like the "bleagh" thing i think that it brings more "violence" or something into the breakdown or the song so yep i like it
reNINTENDO I love em
There's nothing wrong with a good BLEAGH!
Caliban do it alot.
Best. Song. Ever. My executive judgement
I dunno why but I keep hearing "IT'S LIKE A BRAND NEW TUESDAY!"
Tom would be proud of you...
FOR TOM FOREVER!❤
This song felt like a huge tribute to past songwriter and guitarist Tom Searle, who was working on this piece but was called early and died of skin cancer in 2016.
rest in peace, always.
thank you for putting into lyrics and music what we all, who lost a dear one, feel . Thank you so much
