As a drummer who primarily plays metal and hardcore, if someone gave me a song like this I’d be able get it pretty quick, and nail the accents. But if you sat me down at a gospel session, I’d probably be accenting the wrong stuff and over playing. Coming from this old head drummer, who spent much of the late 90's and early 2000's in a Slipknot mosh pit, I loved what this young man did! That was a lot of fun to listen to, and fun to watch as well. Good job! 👏👏👏
He was real nervous the first time but his 2nd take after hearing it is nuts. The foot speed, creativity in his fills and groove, and consistency with rhythm are already top notch.
I really was I’m not that good at metal but I did what I could😂🙏💪
@JoshuaCGrant you just keep at it my dude. You're already a star, just keep shining.
What a nice young guy. Hugely talented and a fantastic warm attitude.
Church drummers are always top shelf. This dude rips.
Facts
Fr I had a church drummer reach me triplets and quads. Another dude I played in a band with told me start my rolls with left hand an I played some nutty stuff for me a guitarist on a kit for less than 6 months. I wished I had been able to keep the kit was my pops an he took it off for his band.
6:43 oooooo I like that tho ngl
This kid is incredible. On that first take its a straight up textbook gospel beat and on the second he damn near had it. Hell of an ear and hell of a sense of groove. Chops like crazy too. You cant always teach that and to
switch up like that at 16 years old is crazy impressive.
I love, that he was bobbin’ his head to it like it was a simple little drum part. He was claiming how his foot tired, trying to do 3 bass drum parts with his one beater.
Amazing talent!
Thank you!!
Bro putting a gospel vibe on Slipknot, pure class
SlipToken
This is like the 2nd or 3rd gospel drummer I’ve seen do metal. Very impressive. Kids gonna go far if he wants to for sure.
So dope to see JC’s growth as a drummer. Met em as a young kid (9 yrs old) in Guitar center and he continues to grow! 🙏🏾
@@OGtha3 big broooo ws good💯👊🏾🙏🏾 yessir ppreciate that
@ yessiir!!!
This was so fun to watch!! And Josh absolutely killed it. Mad props and respect to drumeo for supporting this! That's the mark of a great musician, because if you only heard the second take, you'd never know he's new to the genre. Great drumming for any age, but especially for being so young. Cracked up at the "man, my foot is tired." I bet, playing joey jordison parts with a single kick.
Editing was great too.
Thank you and great job to all involved!!
Joshua nailed the grooves in that 2nd take after hearing the original. Nicely done!
This was incredible. That kid just put himself out there and gave it his all. Love watching talented people who obviously put in the hard work. Loved everything about this video. Even on the redemption take he was still doing his own thing and had some dope fills. There aren't enough words.
Being a gospel drummer is probably very hard, you're the coolest person in a room of ladies that want to wait til marriage.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦🏾
@@edwardfordyce6174 nice🤣
LOL
Joshua!!! You are a dream child!! Please be as spiritually strong as your talent.. btw.. ROCK/METAL is your friend!!! You are the best raw talent I have seen in many years.. appreciate the comment from a 61 y/o ww who has experienced this stuff for many years.. Keep going, you are a star... xo
Man you killed it once you heard the actual drum part. For this not being your genre, I'm impressed! Well done!
That foot technique is crazy.
That song has 3 drummers so an impossible sound to fully replicate, he did a great job.
percussionists not drummers
1 drummer, 2 additional percussionists that aren’t really necessary for the majority of the sound. Most people would only notice a difference if you removed the keg
@@IceScreamey Piano is a percussion instrument so they're actually pianists.
@@petehakkinen3020 no lol that's illogical, not all percussionists are pianists
@@petehakkinen3020😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Hahahahahaha tienes todo el conocimiento sobre música que tiene un doctor sobre plomeria
He did an awesome job! Jumping into that style from his comfort zone...wow very impressive!
Love watching videos like this. Makes drumners write on the spot and expand their musicality. Young man did a great job 🤘
Hey my man, Mad skill!! You are an amazing percussionist! Never stop playing and growing in your genre and styles! You have an artist touch on the kit!! Awesome work!
Okay I met this dude at church when he was like 8. I remember asking him about some cymbal. He was like “yeah, I’m with the company.” And I thought he meant he liked the brand. But he had an endorsement deal already.
Damn 16! Keep smashing bro!
So cool to see Drumeo on board!
This is drumble
@@EYESORE-band go watch the vid, kiddo
@@JulianFernandez I’m aware, I think it’s funny hit the names are similar
I love seeing all these channels (including Drumeo, but it's a bunch of channels doing this for many types of instruments) doing this format, but especially the channels doing this with drummers, because, as a drummer, it's a LOT of fun to see these drummers put their own spin on various styles of music. I've seen metal drummers on jazz pieces, pop drummers on gospel, and gospel drummers on metal pieces, and I love it. This kid tears it up, and that's what I love. Great job, my dude. 🤘
gave you guys a subscribe. Keep going, guys. You'll be at 100k followers in no time.
Hell yea!! Love your appreciation for the amazing tunes that have been conquered before their times by some of the most incredible musicians that have graced us and paved the way. Joey was something else… simply put something else. RIP to the king
Well Done Sir, Been to alot of Slipknot shows.... your Take on Duality is absolutely Awesome. You are a good Drummer sir... Rock on and stay frosty.
Good job kid! Cool to see him getting comfortable and having fun as the song goes on. That fill at 8:20 was 🔥
@@michaelnewman9996 that was awesome
Joshua throwing a nice Punk feel on his grooves works really well with this track
From drummer to drummer, you’ve got some damn good talent! Don’t ever have an expectation of what talent is behind a certain genre… you started doubting your vibe to it and found yourself really enjoying it by the end… well done brother! 🙏🏻🤘🏻
i love watching talented artists in their genre, break out into something I know well. The way they find an appreciation for something they might not otherwise, so powerful.
10:08 my dude got that stank face. One of us!!!! 🎉
Literally watched a slipknot fan being born
Yesss had this same thought at the same time 😎🙌
Best redemption ever!!!
Fr
This dude is mad talented. Saving his name for when he makes it big
Good job, young man. I've been watching these blind drum vids for a while. I really like your drum version of the song. It fits the song. Some guys are all over the place. It's like, are you listening to the same song?lol
Good stuff man! Keep up the fire drumming! 16 year old gospel drummer playing slipknot is crazy! Super dope bro!
Left Jordan: Been through 2 games of use.
Right Jordan: Been through 8 seasons, 3 all-star games, 2 dunk contests, and a Doordash delivery.
I think a few of wish we were this good at 16.
My guy smashed it on the redemption
Still waiting on our main man Tim to throw down.
Until then you will be known as a coward 😂😂😂 (still love you tim)
🤣🤣🤣🤣ima keep DUCKING!!!
Some of us were blessed. Went pro at 14 but never made it on Drumeo 😂
If Slipknot had travis barker lol
thats what im saying
he'd be an amazing punkrock/ska drummer fr!
Travis is an amazing drummer though. Pretty technical and actually incorporates a lot of drum rudiments in the songs. Most drummers just skip rudiments and go full on blasting the drums.
clearly you NOT listen blink 182
That would be interesting
It is so cool to hear how a different musician can take a song and interpret it in a different way with their own style and flavor. Hooked on these videos lately. Awesome work!
Make more of these videos with this format. Super entertaining and truly creative what you did with this video. Algorithm loving it. Make this a series bro. I loved it.
Started a bit like he was in a KNOT…but then he SLIPped into his groove.
I’ll let myself out.
🚪🚶
This kid is UNBELIEVABLE! 16 years old! Wow!
I started my first band when I was 16 in 1999.
Why wasn't he born earlier, we needed him.
This is such a great channel. Great song, awesome young man, so wholesome and humble. The redemption is straight 🔥🔥🔥Little bro, is gonna go places.
Dude... that 2nd take gave me tingles.. so cool to hear you grasp the metal feel and incorporate your own smothness. Amazing talent my guy, keep working hard
Got it good on the redemption!
Totally
I think it's cool to see someone younger try this challenge. I feel he was afraid to really get away from the hats, but definitely a good watch :)
Joey gave his blessing at 13:00 - Josh went off from there. Awesome.
My dude was not playing double with one foot. SLIPKNOT HAS 3 DRUMMERS! He was playing 3 drummers with one drummer!
So nice. Really like the punk attitude you gave the refrain in the first take and it's crazy at the end, when you leave your comfort zone, love it! Great work and awesome anticipation :) 2nd take's just impressive
Great Performance. And thank you for not copying the concept but putting a Twist on the drumeo formula. It was really cool to hear the second Performance after heard the original ❤
7:13 has a punk sound
lil bro crushed that last take, bro was feelin himself
Awesome video, the kid is a natural talent , great ear , that kick with one pedal was tremendous, great job, you got it 2nd take . I love Slipknot , reminds me of 8th and 9th grade .
Never stop making music , God Bless.
