As a bass player I'm so jealous that there's not a comparable Basseo channel with all the amazing stuff yall do. 10/10 content. If you need me, I'll be in the pocket.
Bass player here but I think there's something special in the drums that attracts other musicians (who play armonic/melodic instruments). It's probably wrong but I feel like a guitarist would never look at a Basseo channel... 😆😢😇
Man, the more Drumeo videos I watch with Chad and Brandon, the more I love their little bromance. People always say don't meet your icons, but I think Chad is one of those very rare exceptions where your icon totally meets and even surpasses all your expectations. Such a cool and fun guy to be around and learn from. Brandon is living the dream, and I'm slightly jealous haha
You’re envious, not jealous. Envy means you are happy for Brandon & wish you could be in his very lucky shoes while jealousy implies that you want it for yourself & have enmity towards Brandon for his having such an awesome experience. I used to use say jealousy all the time until someone pointed out the error to me too. I’m with you 100% on enjoying watching this bromance with Brandon & Chad!😻 What a joy to watch & I’m not even a drummer! LOL! I’ve always loved Chad, but after seeing him on Drumeo, I’m absolutely head-over-heels for him!💜😽💋
completely agree. when I first heard the album as a kid I didn't realize how much I appreciated the mix but as I've gotten older and learned music I've realized what a big part that's played on this whole album.

It is always interesting when a top drummer like Chad breaks down what to the ear may seem simple but turns out to be complex in the most subtle ways. He's one of the all time greats.
Man....This channel has done so much to really highlight the genius of so many great drummers. I always knew Chad Smith was a solid, respected drummer, but I never knew he was THAT good. Its one thing to see a performance or a drum solo, but when you see a drummer just fooling around like that, IMO, thats where you can really see what theyre all about. Also, what a F**ckin nice guy Chad is!
I don’t play an instrument but it was really cool to see this. Chad is a premiere example of why people LOVE their favorite musicians! Incredible mastery of his lifelong passion that has deservedly led to a massively comfortable life… so humble, generous and super cool.
This is the most fun, laid-back entertainment I've had on RUclips in a LONG time. This type of content is absolute gold and separates the good from the epic. Drumeo, while these productions are surely expensive, they matter. A great deal. BRAVO!
There is one thing you have above anyone else who’s played this track (including myself) and that’s playing this in front of the man Chad himself. There’s no way I could’ve done that. Badass job dude. That’s a take of a lifetime.
This was absolutely one of the best videos yet! Congrats Brandon and the Drumeo Team on this. Brandon you were awesome! Great digging deep into the details for these parts. What a great experience for you hanging with Chad Smith at his house. Kudos to Mr. Smith for his generosity and giving us all some lessons!
On the final play-through, about a third of the way through, it was *obvious* that you loosened up, got into playing *the song* and emoted more. That was a great lesson in itself.
Brandon. You are am absolutely sick drummer! I absolutely appreciate your transparency in what it took for you to learn this song! I played this song in my cover band years ago, and I don’t think I ever played it 100% correctly! Great job man!
lol yeah. i wonder if it was because the video was out of sync with the audio. or they just bumped the time up so there's a less noticeable lag in the convo. or the direct feed looks better than watching the video from the tv monitor. maybe a mix of all those and more
That was inspiring. Working with Chad like that shows the importance to detail you both believe in thus absolutely owning that song. Congratulations. Only on Drumeo!
The content this channel produces is the best out there - this video is another example of a massive win for me, seeing Chad help someone through one of his songs is amazing on so many levels
Can we just appreciate the dedication to not just have a whole production crew come in and set up a drum kit, but to also pretend it's his kit, play along AND stay in character the whole time? Thank you. You're a legend, Will!
Man, Brandon, you did awesome!! What a teacher Chad is!!! Of course, you weren't playing exactly perfectly just like Chad at first, but who would expect it?? You WILL get it though after Chad's instruction and a little practice! I have no idea how you could play at all in front of a legendary drummer, you are awesome! Chad Smith is a hard act to follow with his swing and feel, and that is the exact reason so many people love him and his style of drumming!! The story Chad tells of Neil asking him after his performance at the tribute was hilarious, I think Chad said Neil asked him if he could play any harder or something along those lines, haha!! What brilliance!!
This episode made me subscribe. Chad is such an icon to me and I am 63. He has such a great presence on the drums that his entire personality comes out in his performance. For him to take the time to help you says a lot about his character. Good job!
Great job Brandon! Chad is one of my favorite drummers, his approach and feel on the drums are next level. I have his Chad Smith signature snare and it sounds great!
Worked hard to learn this song and the album back when it came out. HUGE influence on my drumming (no blame for my mediocrity LOL). Can't wait to see this and laugh at my mistakes! Those who can and then give back by teaching... mentors to millions, man. Eternal gratitude and mega respect.
You're clearly an amazing drummer, and it's fun to see how shy you became when playing in front of the master :) Chad seems like such an awesome human being!
Dude for such a good drummer in yourself I honestly cannot believe how good chad is, he just sounds on another level even tho it's not that complicated. That is impressive.
Biggest takeaway from this i definantly to play it with conviction. Once youve got the basics down, everything will take care of itself. Just gotta play it like you own It. That should be the mantra for every song you play, regardless of genre.
very entertaining video, it's always fun to see Chad hangout with someone, and Brandon it's inspiring to see you so eager to improve your performance on this song - and improve you did. Chad's right, that conviction to play with is really important and you nailed that with the last take, that was impressive!
So awesome! Brandon and Chad have such great chemistry and the final version sounded soooooo good!! I love how Chad mentioned it wasn't the hardest song in the world... looks pretty hard to me!! Haha luckily I'm a bass player and we have it a lot easier playing this one. Thanks so much for the awesome content ❤❤❤
Extremely well done, Brandon! What a good production this video is. The storyline is very strong, it shows how even for a 'simple' song there is an ocean of nuance in its performance, how much the details and the vibe (so hard to capture both) matter to the original musician that wrote the part and finally you beautifully display the exchange of so much more through this learning than just drum stuff, it's so human. Some of the best stuff online right now. Give this crew a raise!
That final rendition was so excellent Brandon! Chad puts so much soul into his playing, it's impossible to replicate it exactly, but you got pretty close! Chad was very gracious in his distinctively comedic (yet serious) style. Mission accomplished!
