The easiest way to waterproof a receiver is to take a finger from a nitrile glove and stick the receiver inside it. Put a little grease around The open end and wrap a rubber band around it tightly. I've done this on a few different vehicles that didn't have waterproof boxes and it works great
For those who don't want a Traxxas or arrma: The team associated pro4 sc10 is around 300€ (without lipo and charger!). It's my daily basher. The only thing I broke on it since july was a front suspension arm. It has a dust cover!! It's fast, durable and it's very easy to control even on 3s!
had to work on driveshafts , differential bearings , skid plate , dust cover glue wheels , tape in C-clip on servo, etc . but its great when its running !

Same chassis as the VRX Cobra (Violence Truck) lol.. Very good RC but watch those diffs on 3S.! The front will probably go first, then about a day after you replace it the rear will go.! 😜 Hobbyking do the ring & bevel gears for the "Quanum Vandal" (FTX Vantage/VRX Spirit), they cost around £4.50 & £3.80 ish for two. Or you can get the FTX ring & bevel for about £8 each per pair, they use the exact same ones in nearly every 10th scale RC they do. I'm on at least my dozenth FTX diff gear replacement.!..! It's kind of become standard maintenance now. Dialling back the punch & brakes is a good (boring) idea.. (all mine are running HW esc's, I'm not sure about the settings on that one, though I think it's a Surpass esc so the cheap little setting card should do it) if you don't like twiddling the tools, but it really isn't a hard job, an hour is plenty of time to do both of them. Anyone who says FTX are rubbish is a bit of a wally imho & they either haven't tried one or they don't know how to run & maintain an RC. 😜 👍 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚙 🚗 🚓 🚐.
Thanks for the info , my diffs went today , on 3s on the grass , hit a bump the spare wheel flew off , then the dredd ed grinding noise started , really trying to like this car , but it only 2Weeks old and on its 5 th battery pack , 3 , 2s and 2, 3s , and new bumper front plate and diff housing , I might need to get better at driving lol this is gettinging expensive
Would love too see more on this beast, I'm currently looking into purchasing it! It seems like a great starter, do you have any recommendations on RC tool's basic kits? Cheers mate 🤙

Arrma Senton is a class above this imo. If you are new to RC then FTX are perfect as you get everything you need in the box. Run it into the ground and then upgrade to an Arrma and carry over your battery and charger
I looked on the FTX site for the Zorro and found not only this version but another version that appears to have trailing arms and a solid axle (like a full-size trophy truck) but the solid-axle version is brushed instead of brushless...did they think the brushless power would be too strong for the trailing arm chassis? Both are called Zorro trophy truck, sort of confusing.
That's the old OUTLAW chassis which they made up a 1st issue zorro them found it was rubbish. under power .so they redesigned it which you see now brushless zorro . Outlaw it crap just rolls over all the time waste of money . Zorro well worth it
The channel budget was blown wide open this month so I don't currently have the funds available. I have some other crawlers coming to the channel in a week or two.
New to elec cars as kids imto them now... we running ni-mh 5300 for theres as brushd but last them full poke bout 30mins... haw long dose 2s 3s 3500 or 6000 8000 etc last in playtime
Nimhs are crap bin them and get lipo I have 5000 100kick and I get about 30mins plus on each battery going full punch. I had 6 4000 NiMH bats an never got more that 30 mins out of.all them combined . 2s lipos way to go
I would recommend the carbon fiber chassis because them aluminium chassis bend very esay on the vantage from what I have heard. Don't now about the zorro but I wouldn't chances it.
I can and do appreciate the new product reviews but it seems like they represent more then half your videos now. What happened to the vintage Gavin? Haven’t seen a restoration other then the Evo IV in the past 6 months. Don’t mean to be critical but your early day content was one of the reasons I started collecting vintage a year ago.
Unfortunately restorations are time consuming, parts are challenging to find, and now extremely expensive to do. The main kicker is restorations are not as popular as you might expect. The last restoration cost hundreds of Pounds and the viewer numbers are not enough to justify the hours of work required vs other content. I will still do them but unless more people watch, it's hard to justify. It's really sad.
The Vantage 2.0 is a total bargain for what it is. Don't bash the life out of it like I did and it will be great. I have some upgrade parts to fit to on mine so you will see it back on the show soon for some TLC and upgrades later this week.
Does anyone else have massive understeer with theirs? There's no way I can pivot mine 180 degrees like shown in this and TomleyRC's videos. Mine just wants to go in a straight line. Also, does anyone elses steering jitter at full lock? (yes, I set the end-points... 🙂) Great video! Loving the slowmo through the woods. 😄
If anyone is still following along here - I've put oils in the diffs and it's getting much more drive to the rear now. 3000cst in the front diff 5000cst in the rear 500,000cst in the centre diff Proper testing to be done in the dirt tomorrow, but so far it's shown it's now quite happy to light up the rear on wet tarmac.

Bit of simple bluetack will cover them holes, Easily removed if need be 👍🏻

Got this RC it's pretty good , had some issues with the front , bumper and had to change , to a Dumbo rc transmitter , but awesome car

You should have a look at wheelspinmodels they specialise in ftx

Ali express dust covers are way better/cheaper than dusty motors,paid £10 for the xmaxx one, much better fit as well.

Yes it did take a while to remove all the sand lol. It needs some TLC & a few upgrade parts & then I’ll run it again to see if it’s worth while.

A load of variables but in a rough basic form, a 2000 mAh will last half the run time of a 4000mAh battery.

what surface, not so good on grass, fantastic on everything else.
@@John.lakesrc dry roads, dirt, gravel... Not tried it on grass yet. It's a little better on wet roads, but still wouldn't exactly be doing donuts.

Hmmm. Maybe I need to try thicker diff oil in that middle diff, to keep drive to the rear when the front gets light...?
