    I have had both over the years, I have the zorro now it's a great platform. The ftx is cheaper in money but not in quality. The traxxas is a amazing platform if you have the money for it and upgrades.

  • @barrycheesemore2928
    @barrycheesemore2928 Год назад +5

    I think you hit the nail on the head at the end, both are great vehicles BUT they are totally different price points so aimed at different sectors of the market. One of the biggest issues with the Traxxas is those stupid proprietary battery connectors, what a stupid idea! A lot of the FTX parts are the same across multiple cars in their range, spares prices are dirt cheap, and they're readily available. Personally I'd go for the Zorro, but each to their own. Great video though👍

    This is an excellent comparison review. One thing I don't think you mentioned was the ease with which you can work on the Slash. With the removal of three or four screws you can easily remove the back end or front end and have access to the diffs. In the U.S. parts availability would be a question falling in favor of the Slash.

    • @RCKickschannel
      @RCKickschannel  Год назад +2

      Yes the Slash is super easy to work on, but the Zorro is about the same, if not fractionally worse. I can't say about FTX parts in the US so can you have a Google and see if you can find parts for the Zorro? Let me know :)

    A must for the Zorro is a dust cover, when I had mine something broke every time I took it out. So was sold after a few weeks, personally I`d go for an Arrma Senton.

    • @RCKickschannel
      @RCKickschannel  Год назад +3

      The alloy chassis is a big help as it doesn't have sides so everything that gets in, falls back out vs the plastic chassis design. I'm not 100% on the alloy chassis for full on bashers but for doing what I did in the video, it's perfectly fine. I guess it comes down to how hard you bash. The 4x4 Arrma Senton is £347 so it should be much better for 40% more money.

  • @roblowrie1969

    I got a Zorro brushless as a roller, direct from CML for £100, and dropped a cheap Surpass Hobby brushless system into it (4500kv), and it's a rocket ship. I've run it for over a year, and nothing has broken from the extra power.
    I love the Zorro platform, but would be more interested to see the Apache up again that, than the Slash. I don't have the kind of money to drop £600 on a car, and the smiles per £ with pretty much all the FTX cars, far outweigh some of the opposition.
    They're not perfect, and the electronics can be a bit weak, especially their brushed motors, but everything is so cheap to fix. I'm also interested to see if the Apache shell would fit on the Zorro. It's much more aggressive. 👍🏻

    Ill always maintain you get the Slash, upgrade it as you break it or the pounds are there to spend on it. Plus the customization is there, RPM coloured parts or the coloured Traxxas replacements. Suspension and tyres transform the performance, and then toughen up your drive line if you want to bash it.

      I'd like to see 2 good drivers race these on a nice track with the same tires and power - gearing to make it even, I think the Zorro would do very well being it has a center diff and the Slash doesn't. The most important takeaway from the video is, the Zorro pushes like crazy. The Ultimate tucks her nose in, and goes to work. In terms of driving experience, the Ultimate is the far superior truck. Gear up a couple teeth on the spur, and that will counter the Zorro's speed advantage.

    Current Traxxas Slash platinum ultimate 🤔 Price here is base vxl 4x4 brushless almost $900.00. for the top of the range platinum ultimate 🤔.. its almost $1,200.00...
    If you look at the team associated Pro 4 sc brushless short course truck . Prices range pending store from $500.00 to $600.00..
    Part support however is abysmal pending store and location... Ease of access to a point goes to Traxxas for parts support... But definitely not overall price..
    If you drift over to the arrma senton 4x4 3s its around $650.00 .. but part support is way better than team associated..
    For non mainline brands HSP, River Hobby (think they are possibly connected to FTX..) they dont have much of the market here..
    Part support is very important even if the particular rc vehicle is hard to break or how and where its driven no breakage is likely to happen...

      @RCKicks Correct. Geared to the same ratio including wheel diameter and pushing the same mass(within reason), the traxxas motor would be faster. The extra 15mm of length on the 3665 can should give it more torque and overall higher wattage handling, so geared longer, it should be able to put out more power before overheating. Of course, internal dimensions and quality will come into play, but most of the sensorless ebay cheapies I've used have been great, so in theory the Zorro should be able to outdo the Slash, power and speed wise.

      @@RCKickschannel Okay, to me, when you when you were saying which one you preferred, it seemed like you were trying to respond from two POV: Which one you would pick, and which one was the best value for the money.
      But then you said that the vastly more expensive one was only marginally better in all categories, and I thought that even some frugal minded people like myself, AND people that make better money might buy the Zorro based on that.
      I thought a better POV to review by would be as the RC fanatic and expert you are, AND pretty much the same person except this version of you made half the wage you do.
      I think it would put you in the mindset of some of us that love RCs, but didn't quite make a good wage. That way if you answered from Half Wage You, and you STILL would buy the more expensive model, it would truly speak volumes.

    sorry mate I wanted an honest review and instead had you a sitting on the fence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, "with the greatest respect", I don't have money to burn unlike some , however I don't want to buy rubbish so would sooner save to buy a premium product. this told me nothing about the best car!!!!

      I have the Brushless Zorro. It's great on 3s but you may need to upgrade the ESC.👍👍
