Some great tips here! About covering the hole in the tire though. What is the point of the hole if we are covering it up to protect from sand and water entry?
Hot air expands, cold air contracts. With the tire glued to the wheel, without a vent hole the air gets trapped inside and is susceptible to temperature. So in cold conditions a sealed tire would actually shrink, and in hot conditions it would expand. The ventilation process allows the tire to retain its original shape'ish in varying temperature conditions. But in sand or water, or even snow, it's worth sealing up those holes temporarily. Hope this helps explain why. -Brett

Yeah, usually. You'll have to see what operating voltage the transmitter runs on. A rechargeable AA operates at 1.2V where an Alkaline operates at 1.5V. Most transmitters will operate within a voltage range to accommodate this, but just check first. -Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies I wanted you to know I got a Maxx. I ordered it and all batteries from AMain because of the helpfulness of this response and the overall awesomeness of the channel.
Question I want to buy 2 RC cars for my girl's kids (10-11) and I know if both cars are the same frequency they can interfere with eachother so what frequencies are there for me to by? Its been a while since I bought my cars (20 years)
Hey Jay! Transmitters today use 2.4GHz technology and they cannot interfere with other transmitter frequencies. So as long as your R/C says "2.4GHz Transmitter," you'll shouldn't have issues driving multiple cars. -Brett
Question: if you keep your Lipo on storage instead of fully charged and you need it fast is it still good to go or do you have to charge on balance again first?
I'm not quite sure I understand you. If the battery has been sitting at the storage voltage, you will need to charge it before using it. You could put it in your vehicle and use it at the storage voltage, but it won't last long. Is that what you mean? -Brett

@@AMain_Hobbies thanks for help. I never heard before about the viscosity of CA glue. Just classic or gel. Were is the viscosity written? I usually use the 401 by Henkel
@@bipantera Not all glues will say the viscosity. 401 is probably good to use. We only recommend medium, because thin glue is very runny, like water, and it harder for new users their first time. If you are used to 401, that is all you need! -Brett
I always struggle understanding what KV motors I can match with lipo batteries? I'm building my first 1/10 2wd buggy. With a 2s 100c battery, what KV motor would you suggest for a high grip but tight circuit?
In 1/10 scale cars we talk more about turns. The lower the turns the more power it has. So a 5.5t is modified for a 4wd. For a 2wd i would use a 6.5T or a 7.5T. If u wanna drive stock class i think it is 13.5 where ever you live and what they race.
Hi, I picked up an old 3-band 27Mhz RC car t(a very cool, HUGE Ford GT, almost 2 feet long!) that takes a 9.6V NiCd battery pack. It didn't come with a remote, so I bought a few 27Mhz remotes, even some with 3 or 4 bands, but none of them would operate the car (which I think is weird because there are only 6 bands in the 27Mhz range, so I figured at least ONE of the remotes would work). So I assume that to get this working, I must buy a new transmitter/receiver kit. My confusion is, the kits I see (for example, the AUSTAR AX6S 4CH 2.4Ghz) are all either 6V or 12V, but I don't see any 9.6V kits? What am I missing here? How does a 6 or 12v receiver work off a 9.6v battery? Thanks for any info.. (PS: Is it difficult to swap out the original receiver for a new one?)
The 9.6V battery is plugged into the ESC (speed controller), which is then plugged into the receiver. The ESC manages the voltage that the receiver receives, which is usually 6V, but it can vary. Hope that helps, but shoot over other questions. -Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies Brett, thanks so much for the explanation. I believe this car is what you would call "toy grade", but it's still cool so I'd like to work on it a bit-- I'm new to this so it would be fun to tinker/learn. I think the best idea is to take the body off and see what it looks like inside before I buy any parts. I'm thinking if it's cheaply made, it may be all sealed and self-contained, such that I can't just (easily) pop in a new receiver. I don't know-- Maybe you do? The brand is "1 Badd Ride". They're out of business now but this was made in 2006. In your experience do toy grade cars also have removable ESC/Receiver setups? Thanks again.....
@@epf1961 I don't have any experience with this sort of thing, but in theory, it seems like it should work. The only issue that could stop you, is if the car doesn't use a standalone receiver, and instead its somehow wired directly to the circuit board. Some hobby-grade R/C's come like this as a 2-n-1 ESC/receiver combo, but it's usually the real small ones. I guess you'll just need to get in there and see? Not sure how to determine this other than seeing if a receiver is missing. -Brett
It's because your boat suddenly doesn't know what to do without signal. In the future, always power on the transmitter first, model second. When powering down, turn off model first, transmitter second. With this, you shouldn't have any more issues. Hope it helps Rick. -Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies One more question ,I have a Proboat 23 stealthwake,it has a lipo mode, the stock battery is a dynamite 2400 MAH 6 cell 7.2 ,my question is , the Spectum Smart Lipo 5000 mah 2s 7.4 30c compatible for my boat, thanks again for your help,🇨🇦🍺
@@rickbarg3980 It's compatible, but i'm not sure if it will fit. Boats don't have much space inside, so that's the one consideration, and I'm not sure how that Smart battery will sit in there. I checked the boat manual, but couldn't find any specs on the battery compartment. If you have a local hobby shop, maybe take your boat in and try some batteries; see what fits and what doesn't. -Brett
Hey, new to rc hobby. Just ordered an Infraction for my first car. I was thinking about getting 2 3s 150c lipo batteries, but I wanted to know if running 2 6s batteries parallel would give me more run time?
lol - 'first' car and getting 2 x 3/6S.... just wondering, how many parts did you break 🤣 Personally I grew up driving slower basic cars and progressed... so many people these days just jumping straight to the fastest most powerful as beginners. Hope you went well, but I don't recommend for first timers / beginners to go from zero to the best/fastest straight up... There's a learning curve.
@@AMain_Hobbies first, thanks for this informative video, very helpful for us newbies.Im starting to like this hobby and still doing my research on how to properly charge the lipo batteries. I dont have the proper charger yet (the one that can check the cells), and still thinking if its necessary to get one. Im still using the factory charger and using this formula. Got this from some rc group topics; Mah of battery divided by mah output of charger= hours to be charged. Eg. 1500mah (battery capcity) vs 1500 mah (charger electrical output) = 1 hour(charging time)..
There is no hard rule, but the longer they sit fully charged the more harmful to the battery. I try to avoid them sitting fully charged for more than a few hours. But if you charge a battery the night before a race so you can immediately practice the next day, the battery will probably be fine. -Brett
Wife lost the manual straightaway. I can’t figure out why there’s a wire attached from the vehicle (right where the battery goes), to the transmitter. I’m a complete nube. 🤷🏻♂️
The transmitter may be the power source to charge the battery; some mini and micro r/c vehicles do it that way. Once the battery is charged, you can unplug it I believe. For your manual, try checking out the manufacturers website for a digital copy. It will be good to have. -Brett

Yeah, usually. You'll have to see what operating voltage the transmitter runs on. A rechargeable AA operates at 1.2V where an Alkaline operates at 1.5V. Most transmitters will operate within a voltage range to accommodate this, but just check first.

Question
I want to buy 2 RC cars for my girl's kids (10-11) and I know if both cars are the same frequency they can interfere with eachother so what frequencies are there for me to by? Its been a while since I bought my cars (20 years)
Hey Jay! Transmitters today use 2.4GHz technology and they cannot interfere with other transmitter frequencies. So as long as your R/C says "2.4GHz Transmitter," you'll shouldn't have issues driving multiple cars.

-Brett
I bought my car used... no manual... I've figured it all out from RUclips.
Hello! Just curious what brand of tools are you using in this video. They are very nice.
Yeah, they're pretty slick! They're the ProTek SL hex and nut drivers and then we put them in the tool bag. Makes for a great grab-and-go setup whenever we leave to drive, or need to wrench somewhere other than the studio.

turn the transmitter on first // on some GPtoy's " ALWAYS turn on the vehicle first , then the
transmitter , Always power off the transmitter before the vehicle "SO ALWAYS READ THE MANUAL ! : )

i run a castle system with motor temp warning and sensor lost warning
Ok so dont drive during rain or In a wet ground. Got it
Is a xinhlong 1936 brushed rc car a bigginer rc car ??
dont go for speed, i just got my first car ever a HPI subaru nitro, and its insane fast.. think its only really doing 35-40 but how can you need more unless you want to drag race. I find its harder to control than my model Aeroplanes!
Great advice Brett, Thanks!
Here’s my biggest tip, if you like your car running never use traxxas self right

Hi, great videos. I wanted to ask one thing, I've a 2s lipo and 1 cell is 4.09 and other is 4.15 and this difference is always present. Do I need to be concerned? I purchased it just a few days ago.
Yes, you should be concerned as the cell voltages are not balanced. Please try to balance the cells with a LiPo specific balance charger.

Dear Sir, sorry for question but I'm not m. language. What you mean with CA glue? Cyanoacrylate?
Yes, you are correct, cyanoacrylate. We recommend a medium viscosity.

Thanks, that makes more sense now 👍
Hi, I picked up an old 3-band 27Mhz RC car t(a very cool, HUGE Ford GT, almost 2 feet long!) that takes a 9.6V NiCd battery pack.

When I shut off my transmitter first ,the prop still runs when Boat is on??? not sure why
It's because your boat suddenly doesn't know what to do without signal. In the future, always power on the transmitter first, model second. When powering down, turn off model first, transmitter second. With this, you shouldn't have any more issues. Hope it helps Rick.

@@MKu64 No crashes yet. I’m a very cautious beginner.
Do you have a video about charging lipo batteries?
No, but that is a great topic. Thanks. Is there anything that I can help you with right now regarding charging?
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies first, thanks for this informative video, very helpful for us newbies.Im starting to like this hobby and still doing my research on how to properly charge the lipo batteries. I dont have the proper charger yet (the one that can check the cells), and still thinking if its necessary to get one. Im still using the factory charger and using this formula. Got this from some rc group topics; Mah of battery divided by mah output of charger= hours to be charged. Eg. 1500mah (battery capcity) vs 1500 mah (charger electrical output) = 1 hour(charging time)..
For how long can you leave a 4s lipo fully charged b4 get to use it again?
There is no hard rule, but the longer they sit fully charged the more harmful to the battery. I try to avoid them sitting fully charged for more than a few hours. But if you charge a battery the night before a race so you can immediately practice the next day, the battery will probably be fine.

The worst is when you lose manual:/
Whats the max temp on escs?
11:00, maybe a new transmitter too.
First tip should be buy "TRAXXAS" for it's ease to work on and repair...plus excellent part support!!!!!
There’s a manual in rtr kits? Ah. Nm. I’ll just wing it. Lol.
9:58 motor temp is 0 K ? Damn thats chilly
Didn’t even notice the tier vents... oops thx!!
What is CA Glue? Anyone?
My rc car didn’t come with out a manual
Me having a mini crawler and seeing number one: 👁 👄 👁
Wife lost the manual straightaway. I can’t figure out why there’s a wire attached from the vehicle (right where the battery goes), to the transmitter. I’m a complete nube. 🤷🏻♂️
The transmitter may be the power source to charge the battery; some mini and micro r/c vehicles do it that way. Once the battery is charged, you can unplug it I believe. For your manual, try checking out the manufacturers website for a digital copy. It will be good to have.
-Brett
