Apache motor is 3652 2500kv.... the end can is wrong. If you look at the Motors side by side, you'll see the Zorro has a longer can (3660).. and it's 2900kv, hence it was faster than the Apache. Be good if FTX had the Zorro Electronics in the Apache... it would make a big difference to the low end grunt
I wonder with the Apache and Ramraider being quite big and heavy whether the bigger motor out the Zorro brushless would work in it, with having more torque the ESC shouldn't have to work as hard 🤔
For me definitely the Zorro.. sure the Apache might have more bulk.. but the zorro is cleaner looking and is better in every way in terms of electronics. It’s like the 205 Peugeot gti vs the 206.. we all know what was better lol to this day the zorro I think is untouchable for the money 👊🏼
I never had the zorro and it’s a shame the Apache didn’t have as good of an Esc , but I’ve had the Ramraider the Apache and the rokotan and I really like that platform. I never took mine on thick grass or anything so never experienced the cutting out. It did handle really nicely and the body is really nice as a complete package I think it’s well worth the money for the Apache . Great comparison!
Depends what suface you are gonna run in on on. Tarkmac/streets go for the apache (slipper clutch) or if off road go for the zorro (center diff). All other future upgrades will be suface specific anyway. Great vid guys 👍🏻🙂
I must say that this genre of RC and car racing has really grown on me, I definately have to get one of these that you demo. I have the Kyosho outlaw rampage pro but compared to these it has quite high cener of gravity and too hard rubber on the tyres. But I love to drive it and these seem a little more robust 👍😊
Hehe, loads of fun there! I bought the brushless version of the Zorro, because I wanted the Trophy Truck style suspension. I then burnt out the motor running a 7cell Nimh pack. So I installed a, relatively cheap, brushless combo from E-Tronix. Spent quite a bit less than the Brushless Zorro price all in. Traxxas Slash brushless 4x4 is a lot more expensive by the way, £439 from ModelSport!
I've got the slash 4x4 with a max8 and a hpi 1/8th motor it's expensive yes are the ftx cars good value yes I just bought something that I could be confident in thrashing
@@daylightdies7194 Heh, I'm as cheapo as they come most of the time, but I do have a used 1/10 Summit and a used 2wd Rustler, both are great fun and pretty tough. Nothing broke in the year I've owned them!
@@daylightdies7194 Yes they are, all the reviews say so, and so do I. Get an FTX Ravine crawler less than £100 in the UK (also called Danchee Ridgerock in the US) Around $120 in the US. You won't regret it. It's so cheap you won't think twice about modding after a couple of weeks. LoL, I nearly doubled the price with the softer wheels/tyres that I got later. But you can remove the tyre foams for no cost at all!
Absolutely great video definitely looks great fun in the video I was leaning more towards the zorro but then when thinking about it and looking further down the line and upgrading some parts I’ve made my mind up and now I definitely deciding on the apache
Nice one, bro, thinks it the zorro for me,I had a brushed one once, upgraded it to a hobbywing max 10 combo 3300kv motor, it flew ,still have combo but not zorro ,🥺,,been thinking about getting the new one for AGE,S lol ,so many mixed reviews, but you made up my mind, it's the zorro for me, mate, cheers bro, 😁😉👍
There is definitely some good things about both. A center diff makes the zorro my choice. It does suck that zorro is only available in us as legendary nitro. It may be same design, but lengendary version seems so cheap with no part support. In US, I'd have to say go with TA pro4 sc10...
I like the look of the apache, it's almost identical to my Senton, again even with the upgrades to my senton (4S running gear, motor and esc) the Zorro handles better and is just as fast on 3s. Hmmmm🤔
Interestingly the Apache is basically the pre-cursor of the truck that came before it when they were originally under the Helion brand, they obviously learnt a lot from it
The ESC isn't exactly better just better suited to the vehicle. The Apache/Ramraider has the Hobbywing Quicrun 50amp in it which just seems to be too low amp for the weight and size of the vehicle, the 60amp version what comes in the Rival MT10 and Pro4 SC10 would have probably been fine. The Zorro Brushless has a Gool RC ESC which are very hit and miss and have been known to catch fire, had this happen before when running 3s, I don't believe the claimed amp rating on these. I think you can only really compare amp rating between manufacturer as they are not tested the same way. As you say the Apache is more durable, it's actually the pre-cursor to the Rival MT10/SC10 Pro4 when it was under the defunct Helion brand, this was called the Helion Dominus. I believe they were designed with only 2s in mind which is why the 3s battery options are so limited.
@RCKickschannel it's just the 2wd part mine were early ones before they started with the directional aids had full upgrades including trenchers and still wouldn't go in a straight line with any more power than the titan 12t brushed can I run all 4wd rcs now couldn't afford a Slash 4x4. Have an AE ProSC and a ProRally there epic brushless!

Not much use to beginners but for those of us who might want something cheap the clear body choice would be nice
Nitro fuel will take the paint off. Then little 70-90% rubbing alcohol to clean it up before you paint what color you want..
Its just a basher with a Trophy body. Lazy tbh.
