What an awesome budget truck and yet again another great release from the guys at FTX. This isn't a new truck but its certainly still a great budget option for anyone looking to get into the hobby! Cheers for watching see you on the next one! #RoadTo20kSubs! 😎👍
My son has a Zorro, and the motor only lasted 15 minutes, on its first run with a 2s lipo. The motor melted all the plastic parts round the armature, and seized up completely!! That's now running a Surpass Hobby system, and goes like a scalded cat!! I've got the brushless chassis, running a slightly higher KV system than my son's, and it's mental!! Given the weakness of FTX electronics, it's such a brilliant truck. If it breaks, it's really cheap to fix, and parts are easy to get hold of. There are also loads of upgrades for it, including loads of metal and carbon parts, like the chassis, suspension parts, etc. My 10yo absolutely loves it. 😎👍🏻
I think because of the issues with electronics, the fact you can't get them in the USA, and limited Parts support, the more expensive Arrmas are the better choice. Not only is Arrma way better built as you said, you get the 2-year warranty which gives you piece of mind. The Arrma Boost 4x2 trucks are incredibly inexpensive if you want to spend as little as possible, or for the best all-rounder - A 3S BLX is the way to go, simply start on 2S LiPo and upgrade to a 3S battery when ready, no need to replace or upgrade electronics and you still get the fantastic Arrma warranty while being cheaper than Traxxas options. Arrma has been the king of 1/10th since the Version 3 trucks came out and I think they will continue to dominate the 1/10th market. The Big Rock has a cult following for a reason...
It's interesting to see other people are having issues with electronics on these. I recently got one, and very quickly converted it to a brushless set up, but have now melted 2 escs in the thing. The first one was a silly kv motor on 3s, but the second one was with a 3100kv motor and a supposedly 120a esc on 3s, which I don't think should be too much of a strain, but it lasted about 5 minutes. Was quick AF though...
Also replaced the naf servo with 20kg Banggood special not just cos it was slow but cos the amount of times it’s been crashed into walls lamppost’s trees and hand rails whilst flying down 5 big steps AND me by my son 👊🏻🤣 the servo inside would probably not took it. This has been thrashed the body shell is the only thing that has sustained damage it’s cracked and battered but that in my lads words makes it look real/cool and of course SICK 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
As you guys say it is a little over geared for a 15t motor out the box, best option is to stick a Fastrax 550t 21t motor in it. The Outlaw is worse with it's even bigger tyres
The motor cant handle a 2s lipo. The car needs a brushles set. Front stabilizers and home made rear stabilizer. I did that on my outlaw and it run so much better. Whitout stabilizer it lifts 1 front wheel of the ground and keeps rolling over. Since its the same platform i would recommend doing this.
Can you review a popular 1/10 cheap (around 80-90$) rc car xinlehong 9125? Or do you have a review of something similar? I really like your review and want to know your opinion of it before buying it or some other offroad rc.
Does it handle much more like a trophy truck than a short course truck? One of my biggest RC regrets is not buying the Losi Baja right when I could have got it for under 300 brand new a few years ago.
You can make it handle like a trophy truck which is what I have done and I would say the suspension travel is compared to a Baja Rey once you tune it right. You can see the suspension movement which is incredible but the handling around corners isn't that great but for going fast and straight it is the best thing I have seen as well. Good luck mate!
Yeah you should've definitely gotten the Losi Baja. I'm sure it cost more but well worth it imo l. These are decent for the price though. Just needs a few adjustments few upgrades. Cheers ✌🏻
Sure but the added friction of the thick snow, snow sticking to the truck etc generate more heat. Similar to running in thick grass that also stresses electronics massively. The electronics on these aren't great and many people have had issues. The chassis and truck itself is great. Cheers
Omg what wrong why is it smoking for mate 😳 great video and good information. I've got the same one has that I've upgraded it now to 4s its nuts and fast 😳😅
I got one last year for a lad and dad thrash and smash it’s brilliant and strong as you like 🦾 and fairly easy to roll at full speed! BUT beware of the aly’ hop ups cos of the don’t fit properly - too short/long bearing won’t fit and body posts holes are too small for ftx body pins/clips so I had to use tamiya body clips.

They are decent little trucks Rob! with a cheap brushless you cant go wrong! Love it! :)
Nice platform for experimentation with brushless systems
there's a 17T motor mount available for this - i think that comes as standard on the FTX Outlaw/VRX Octane XL, because of the bigger tires
I swapped my Zorro brushless last year, every time I ran it something broke. If you do get one, buy a dusty motors dust cover. An essential first mod.
I sold my Zorro brushless, could not keep it on its wheels, kept rolling when I cornered, that being said it was fast. Thanks for your upload 👍🙏🐈
It's all in the driving I found mind very stable

Actually, you can get these in the U.S., under the IMEX RC name. They sell both the brushed and brushless version as the IMEX Samurai 2.0.

I have one and love it . I am undecided about trying it on lipo as i dont have a big garden and only use it in the garden
I think the performance is good even though it is a small size trophy truck. It was an interesting video.
I think its sold as VRX Octane Blast.
the FTX Outlaw is a VRX Octane XL
these are essentially banggood cars, just sold in your LHS
Sweet! I just got n made the $97 Laegendary version brushless. Top notch Truck! 👌 I want a Nitro now
Nice truck! Could be a Christmas present on the way 👍🏻👊🏻👊🏻

Yes but I think getting a fan on. Is another good option, is it?
@@julianwillems2295 best two options are to change the motor or the gearing
👍🏻
I run the oulaw on a brushless motor and stock gearing. Works perfect
love my brushless Vantage, amazing for the money.
100%

I killed the brushed motor too easily on 3s😮

feels a little top heavy but nothing too bad and very comparable to a normal SCT.

Been looking at the Zorro brushless the other one using the carnage chassis, have you tried that one.
my girlfriend has it, she refuses to use any of my other RCs as she loves the brushless Zorro
The brushless version uses it's own chassis it isn't the same as the Carnage chassis which is the weakest in the FTX range in my opinion
Isn't cold actually good for electronics?
I mean, electronics get cooled, so the conditions should be better, not worse? Oo

this 400 plus dollars in Australia so not cheap or budget for us but i like the truck
i hear the prices are crazy over there at the moment!
Put the Brushless again and do a new vídeo please 👌
been done already and that vid is on my channel :)

awesome!
My girlfriend has the brushless version and I think it's much better with that chassis, awesome RC car for the money
i agree 100%!
Hey bro I did a review 2s,3s on the Amazon Laegendary Nitro short course version if you'd like to see
This was a terrible rc for me burnt out 3 motors and 2 escs
did you run it on 3s?
No 2s at even that was only a dozen times
I think its geared higher than it should be for the setup. Doesn't help its a fixed motor mount so fitting a small pinion isn't that easy.
@@beyondRC i think im just go brushless with it when i cant be bothered to dump more money in it. Has cost me a fortune in repairs already
Nice masks. Lolololol
