The main reason the UDR doesn't torque twist is because it uses the planetary reduction in the rear axle. This means that there's less torque being applied at the rear drive shaft which is what actually creates the torque twist. That's why it's set up like that

Nothing beats 15 UDRs with the boys on my cousin's ranch that has a 1/5 scale offroad track. Racing and rubbing chaos! So much fun! If you ever come to Livermore on the East Bay Brent you need to bring a few buds and some UDRs. It's a huge track much bigger, wider, and longer than a 1/8 scale offroad track. We usually race Losi DBXLs on it or Losi 5T and 30-degree Norths SCTs. We are in the process of building a Monster Jam course for the Raminators using Powerwheels to run and jump over. lol.

The UDR is so sweet. That suspension travel and movement is unrivaled. The only thing I know that takes away from it is the way the battery plugs in. I wouldn’t jump either truck (I have bashers for that) so I think the UDR is the clear surface vehicle winner

I bought a UDR at launch BEST PURCHASE EVER still my favorite RC HANDS DOWN, be prepared if you get one swap steering servos and work on keeping it cool the the motor and Drive train heat up A LOT! I ended up swapping all the diff housings, and gear reductions for aluminum Vitavon parts and added fans to the motor, now it NEVER gets hot no matter how hard or long I drive it bit IT IS WAY WORTH IT and even though it weighs WAY MORE now (around 20lbs+) the weight makes it look even more scale when driving, and when driving in a scale fashion it is QUITE sturdy even with the stock control arms usually lasting a year and the rear links lasting 2 years on average

As somehow who grew up in this hobby in the late 90's ans early 00's, and is just getting back in to the hobby, it's been so odd to see Traxxas seemingly be considered the top brand, including truck racing. That idea would have been hysterical 20-25 years ago. It was Losi or Team Associated, and that was it. HPI was third, and traxxas was nothing more than an entry level basher. Full disclosure, I had a rustler and loved it, but my serious rig was a Losi XXT Matt Francis Edition.
It might seem like I'm being a brand snob, but I'm not. Ppl should run what they want, ppl enjoying the hobby is all that matters. I'm just making an observation about the crazy brand transformation Traxxas went thru in two decades. I know a lot had to do with marketing and corporate sponsorships that gave them major exposure in the real life off-road racing and enthusiast world, which translated to R/C success, but it's still very weird to see.

      @jeepmanxj 11 месяцев назад +1

It's hysterical now. Traxxas is only a top brand because they sued competitors into the ground.
Honestly they have a single good platform these days. That's the slash. That is a fine chassis and it has HUGE support and racing leagues for them world wide.
They would get annihilated by anything else but there are so many club racers that race the slash it's always competitive much like the tt02

@@Martin-xh1hd they have the slash, trx4, and the UDR. The bandit, rustler, 4tec, x01, stampede and their Maxx line is mediocre at best.
The UDR is ok but it's so outshined by the losi Rey it's irrelevant.
If you think Traxxas has anything going but the slash, the best selling and most raced chassis on the planet, you are the new one. I've been in this hobby for so long I remember a time before Traxxas.

Ive 2 baja reys, one stock and one massively hopped up, and an udr and BR seems like a toy next to udr. Lack of weight, cage wayy to flexible and body flapping around, the way it bobs around like crappy 1/10 trucks. Impossible to tune it even remotely close to how udr handles. BR 1.0 is also total pain to work on, 2.0 makes it slightly easier but still I'd prefer to service 3 udr's instea of one BR.
Scale look wise UDR is just densely packed with full wheel wells and no gaps where light gets through while BR has massive gap over front shock tower which takes away tons of realism.
Battery wise, UDR runs perfect on single big 4S pack. Gets half hour of scale driving and sliding around.
UDR has no torque twist cos of the planetary gearing, the rear drive shaft spins at way higher speed but lower torque reducing it massively. Limit straps are partialy there to make sure it does not overextend as it would just explode at high rpm.

I got upgrades for my udr. Just bought all of the common parts everyone seems to break. I havent legitimately broken anything yet on mine. Only issue ive had so far is the stock shock caps dont keep the diaphragms in place for sh*t

The difference being the superior design and quality of the differentials.
I've been bashing my UDR on 6S since 2018. I have never had to replace any gears in either of the 3 diffs.
My BR1.5 needs new diffs on a regular basis just running 3S. Losi really cheaped-out on the physical size and poor metallurgy.

I don't think rubber/flexible limit straps can't really be considered
    limit straps.

The UDR planetary in the rear axle is the MAIN reason for the absence of torque twist... I give sway bar some credit too...

UDR surfs through the dirt, it is amazing and looks so beautiful, the BR2 looks more like an overpowered truck wit some general upgrades. In this side traxxas really put out skmething unique and irrepetible

With the UDR, when you mentioned torque twist, you forgot about the planetary differentials that eliminate twist all together.

I think the UDR doesnt make as much "Sense" but i can truly say that there is no other RC machine out there that offers the experience that the UDR does.

i want to own a baja truck so bad and thought about these two trucks. But spending almost twice the price for the car and for batteries again, carrying nearly double the weight.... i went with the baja rey.

You need to take into consideration some Luke don't need to buy the battery because I have one, the price for me will not increase and you can tune the suspension on BR2 for soft oil to have much better experience
